Looking for insight on an ancestral message

Nothing like this has ever happened to me in my life, idk if it ever will again. I met a shaman today while I was running errands. He started a conversation with me while I was in the store and said that I have very strong lineage, culture, ancestors. That I have a very bright spirit and asked very specific questions that aligned with exactly how I’ve been feeling. He mentioned a female, grandmother spirit, that’s guiding me - this is the part I’m not sure how to go about or what to feel or think.

Back story: Lately I’ve been doubting if I’m where I should be in life. My job is mundane and I feel like I’m on autopilot a lot. I’ve been seeing repeated numbers a lot in the past few months and haven’t been sure about whether or not that means something. That being said, I’ve also been really feeling my late grandfather’s spirit. He passed away almost 2 years ago and I hadn’t felt his spirit in a year or so. I don’t know how exactly to describe it, but I know he’s been around lately telling me things will be okay. It brings me peace and I’ve been telling myself that even if it’s fake and in my head, at least it gives me peace and have sat with that for the last few months.

Fast forward to today: I was running some errands and a gentleman started a conversation with me. We talked for a while.

He started the conversation by touching on the energy I expel and that it’s very bright and overall engaging and that I have a very strong lineage. He then went on to tell me the numbers that I’ve been seeing have meaning and they’re real. I didn’t bring these numbers up at all, he did, and then he suggested I look into numerology (I think is what he called it) and it just validated me because I’ve been brushing these numbers off. I keep seeing 444 or variations of 4 repeated or 5 repeated and just tell myself it’s timing.

I’m a bit confused though after thinking about the next comment and I wish I asked more about this but there were people around. He said there was a strong grandmother spirit guiding me. I’m not sure about grandmother, but could this apply to my grandfather? My mom was adopted, so my grandfather is not technically part of my biological ancestry, I’m not sure if that impacts the guidance aspect. If I’m thinking too far into it and there *is* a grandmother spirit, how do I research into this more? I have no idea where I’d even start since my mom was adopted. I have her birth name, but I have very very little info. I also want to do everything safely and have seen that there can be dangers to ancestral work..

Lots more was said in this conversation that seriously resonated, but these two things really stuck out to me and I don’t want to make this post any longer than it already is. Please let me know if you have any insight on the ancestor comment. This feels extremely surreal and I think I’m in shock. It feels like I experienced a very spiritual moment out of nowhere.

Carnival Goldfish Update

Hello all! I just wanted to give an update on how my goldfish parent life has been going. Here is how my tank is looking thanks to this group. I have learned so much about tanks, water cycling, and my little goldfish along the way. I truly feel like I owe it to this group and can’t wait to upgrade his tank in the coming months to a much longer tank until our backyard pond is ready in the spring. Then I can put new fish in this tank, have a second bigger and cycled tank for some new fish as well, and my backyard goldfish pond for my little Alfred. I’m so excited to have been opened up to this fishkeeping journey!!! All thanks to this group and my little carnival goldfish. ❤️

For about a month after I got my goldfish from a carnival on July 12th, I did daily water changes because I was having to do a fish-in cycle. I felt bad for the little guy, but I managed it pretty well (thank you to those who encouraged me with the cycle and recommended the water kits and online resources). His tank is fully cycled and the tests have been coming back clean and his tank is thriving. His water lettuce (thanks to a recommendation on this group) has been growing like crazy! Again, super thankful for this group, the positive and negative feedback, and those who were supportive and kind to me throughout the journey so far.

Can someone help me understand the mod policy in this situation?

I’m not a mod, and want to learn. I’m genuinely curious how people feel about this moderation practice and is this normal? Relatively new to being active on Reddit. To preface, when I made these posts, no megathreads or posts about this topic were available.

I made a post with a lot of engagement and an active discussion around some very specific questions. A moderator locked it and created a more generalized megathread, telling everyone to continue the discussion there. The megathread ended up getting basically no engagement, while the original discussion was completely cut off.

I reached out directly and asked why (I understand now that’s a big no no and will never do it again). They told me that was unacceptable and blocked me and permanently banned me from the sub. I went to mod mail and apologized because I really didn’t know that and honestly made this Reddit to participate in this specific community. The mod on mod mail understood and apologized, unbanned me, then unlocked my thread

Then the same thing happened again with another post on the same subreddit by the same mod. It was getting a lot of engagement and had an active discussion, but it was locked and everyone was redirected to another generalized megathread with no conversation and ultimately isn’t getting engagement. I also can’t see the new threads because the mod blocked me. I messaged mod mail asking why or if they could help and got banned again now.

I understand wanting to consolidate posts about a popular/current case and make moderation easier, but why move an active, specific discussion into a megathread where the conversation isn’t actually happening? And why did I get banned for asking?

Does anyone else feel disconnected from their relationship because it doesn’t feel real?

I’m having a hard time putting this into words.

Logically, I know my partner is my partner. We’ve been together for 7 years, live together, and own a house together. I love him very much. But sometimes it doesn’t feel real that he’s my partner? It’s almost like my brain knows the fact but doesn’t feel real? it feels like I’m larping or something.

I know that sounds strange because I obviously know he is, but it just doesn’t feel like it. It’s almost like the relationship itself doesn’t register in my brain the way I feel like it should.

It’s not that I don’t love him… It’s just this weird disconnect that I’ve actually felt since the beginning of our relationship. Idk what it is but it’s draining.

Thoughts on the Lindsay Clancy case?

Now that the Lindsay Clancy trial is underway, I’m curious about your perspectives on it so far.

Context: Lindsay Clancy is a former labor and delivery nurse who, in January 2023, killed her three children. 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan in their Massachusetts home before attempting to take her own life. Her defense argues she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and other debilitating mental illness, while prosecutors argue she was aware of her actions and planned the killings. The trial has reignited debate about postpartum psychiatric disorders, the effectiveness of mental health treatment, and where responsibility ultimately lies.

Do you think Lindsay was failed by the mental health system, by the people closest to her, or both? Do you think she truly acted with malicious intent, or do you believe she was experiencing such a severe psychiatric crisis that she wasn’t thinking rationally?

A lot of the details seem to point toward postpartum psychosis or another severe psychiatric illness rather than someone acting out of hatred or malice. That doesn’t lessen the horror of what happened or the unimaginable loss, but it does make me wonder whether this tragedy could have been prevented..

I’ve also seen rumors that Patrick was involved with the woman who is now his wife before the murders, but I haven’t found any credible evidence supporting that. Is there actually anything that substantiates those claims, or is it just internet speculation? I’ve also seen many people comment that his current wife bears a striking resemblance to Lindsay, though I’m not sure that means anything beyond coincidence.

I’m very interested in hearing different perspectives from people who’ve followed it closely.

Most importantly, may Dawson, Cora, and Callan rest in peace. They are the true victims in all of this.

LET procedure?

Has anyone had the LET procedure and are far out from their surgery date? I had it done alongside a repair of my first reconstruction on ACL and meniscus. My surgery was only about 2 months ago (7 weeks post op). I’m worried and it feels like an uphill battle here for me with the soreness and stiffness on the side of my leg that I had it done on. The scar tissue massages they advise genuinely makes my leg sore for days. Anyone going through this or has anyone gone through this? Many people I say LET procedure to don’t even know what it is. Mentally drained currently, however it does feel more stable.

What explains d4vd’s decision to leave Celeste’s body in his car?

Context: For anyone unfamiliar with the case, it’s alleged that musician d4vd killed 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Court documents allege they had been in contact for years before her death. His vehicle was street parked for a while and ultimately towed to an impound lot, where employees noticed a strong odor. Authorities then discovered Celeste’s dismembered body inside the vehicle. From what I remember, d4vd was on tour around the time the vehicle was impounded, which makes me even more curious about the timeline and his decision-making.

One aspect of the case that I can’t understand is why he allegedly left Celeste in the vehicle. It seems like that decision would make discovery almost inevitable especially because the car is registered to him and he had openly had her on his stream and private social media??

I’m interested in the psychology behind that decision. I’d be interested in hearing thoughts from people who have followed the case closely or know of similar cases.

Does anyone else get judged for caring “too much” about a goldfish?

Idk if many people in my life really understand why I want to give my fair comet goldfish the best life possible. “The less you do for them, the better they do. I had one that lived 3 years.”

Maybe that’s true for some fish, but I just think, why wouldn’t I want to give mine the best chance at living as long and as healthy a life as possible? Just because he started as a feeder fish doesn’t make me care about him any less? Then I get judged for caring for something that’s disposable to many and for doing “too much” research on something that’s a feeder.

Does anyone else get this reaction from the people around them? This feels like such a lonely journey for me and I’m having to defend myself constantly to keep my tank.

Can I get my young comet a friend in a 30 gallon bow front?

Please read this before passing judgement: New goldfish keeper here! Here’s my current tank set up. It’s a 30 gallon bow front with a filter rated for 100 gallon. My plan is to upgrade the tank within about 6 months to a 75 gallon (he’s about an inch right now, but I plan to adjust the timeline based on his growth) and ultimately to a backyard pond we are creating. Edit: the backyard pond will be running by this time next year.

I don’t want him to feel alone. I’m going to change some of the rocks out for sand for some more enrichment.

I didn’t know much about goldfish until I got one at a fair and am trying to give him the best life. I’ve been monitoring daily and have been extremely attentive to him, the tank, and what they need.

Would 2 comets be ok in this set up for the time being, given my timeline? TIA!!

Man found with tooth in his mouth that wasn’t his?

Update/ I found it on tik tok. Timothy Dees case

I saw a video on Facebook about this case and can’t find the video now. There was a case where a man was missing/killed and months later was found in a place nearby that they had already searched as if his body was placed there. And he had a tooth in his mouth that wasn’t his??

Help, I want to learn more about this!

Very new to the goldfish parent life…

You can judge me, but I won a carnival goldfish without having anything set up or ready. It was impulsive and I just felt like I could give him a better home without really thinking about it unfortunately. I wouldn’t change a thing though because I love my little Alfred.

I have never had a fish tank and had no supplies about a week ago. He was sadly living in a 6 gallon bin with daily 50% water changes the past week until I could get the supplies together. I think he will need a longer tank, but this is all I can do for right now :/

Anyways, any critique for the tank (constructive please I’m sensitive) or things that I can improve? Will he be okay in this? All of the water testing results, including ammonia, are at perfect levels.

Help! BFR

I’m 6 weeks post op and started BFR this week. I’m honestly sick to my stomach over this and want to skip my sessions now knowing that that’s something I’m expected to do. I know it’s super beneficial, but has anyone ever not done it and still gotten good results? I had an ACL revision (retear), meniscus repair and LET procedure done.

The first day I did BFR again, my body went into fight or flight. Mentally I was okay, but my body wanted to flail around because I was so uncomfortable. The settings were correct, it’s just a matter of it being extremely hard for me to tolerate. I was doing an unweighted leg extension.

I won a carnival goldfish on impulse and feel awful about it.

TL;DR: Won a carnival goldfish without thinking and regret giving into the gimmick. I realized afterward I had absolutely nothing to care for it properly, and now I feel incredibly guilty.

I feel awful, and I honestly deserve to be judged for this.

I was at a carnival and ended up winning a goldfish. At the time it felt like a harmless, fun thing. Everyone around me was excited, people were carrying fish around, and I didn’t really stop to think about what I was actually taking responsibility for.

The second I got home, reality hit me.

I know absolutely nothing about caring for goldfish.

So I started panic-Googling everything, and that’s when I learned just how much care goldfish actually require. They need much larger tanks than I ever imagined, filtration, cycling, water testing, and all kinds of things I never knew about. Apparently carnival goldfish often die because people treat them like disposable prizes, and reading that honestly made me sick to my stomach because I realized I had become one of those people without intending to.

I’ve spent the last day scrambling to buy supplies and figure out what to do, but I keep thinking that I should have never accepted the fish in the first place. If I wasn’t prepared to care for a living animal, I shouldn’t have brought one home.

The part that’s bothering me the most is that this fish didn’t choose any of this. It didn’t choose to be a carnival prize. It didn’t choose to end up with someone who was completely unprepared. It just exists, completely dependent on whoever won it.
I know people joke about carnival fish, but the more I’ve read, the more guilty I’ve felt. It’s a living creature, and I feel like I made an impulsive decision without considering the consequences.

I really am trying to do right by it now, but it’s not doing well. I’ve been researching constantly, buying what I need, and trying to give it the best chance I can. But I can’t shake the feeling that my lack of preparation may have already put it at a disadvantage.

I guess I’m posting this because I needed to admit that I made a selfish, impulsive decision. I didn’t think through the responsibility before accepting a living animal, and if this fish dies because of my ignorance, I’m going to feel responsible for that.
I hope it survives. I genuinely do. If nothing else, this has taught me that no animal should ever be treated like a game prize, and I’ll never casually accept one again.
