A random contacts question (and cute story)

So way back in university probably 15 to 20 years ago I had a dear friend that I met at a patisserie. She continued on about how badly she wanted a cookie, but couldn’t because of her diet. I threatened and then changed her name in my BlackBerry at the time to Cookie Monster from her actual name. Can anyone explain to me like I’m 10,after multiple phone changes and to iPhone why when I start typing her name to send a text message it permanently comes up Cookie Monster? The contact somehow seemed to know her name still, but it always corrects to Cookie Monster.

Customer service: sorry we can’t update your SIM card for you because you’re in British Columbia. Go home to Alberta.

I’m currently visiting family and bouncing between BC and Seattle. I had a Humpty Dumpty moment and somehow managed to royally mess up my phone. It could still ring but was just a useless white screen. OK, fine, the Apple Store is a little bit out of the way, but I got a new phone replaced under AppleCare. Annoying, but smooth sailing. They hand me the new phone, and I know how to set it up, so I wander on down to the Bell store in the mall, and they proceeded to try everything under the sun to activate a SIM or eSIM for me and get told that because I can’t tell them the last two people I called three or four days ago, and my address is in Alberta and I was in BC, that they couldn’t change my SIM card. I understand the need for protecting SIMs and unauthorized swaps. I worked for a carrier for 10 years, but this is ludicrous! I presented with three legal forms of ID that all match, including a passport. I’m currently looking at not being back in Alberta for over a month. I beg your finest pardon? What in the ever-loving f*** do mean I’m still expected to pay my $160 a month bill for one line while I have no access to it? (I have a premium North America plan, paying for an iPhone 16, and a crave subscription please don’t come for me for the amount)

Anyone got any ideas here? Really not looking to spend like $350 round trip in gas just to get my phone working again. That will be a long ride in silence too. 😂😂😂 Laughing right now so I don’t cry. It’s ok you can laugh AT me too. However, do better Bell!

Year 2: Anniversary weekend

So, for any of you who might have seen Heated Rivalry, I identify as autistic in many of the ways Shane is. (I’m Team Ilya for looks, in case anyone cares.)

The reason I share this is because my hubby, who is the one who passed, was the person who became a pro at calming me down when I was in a spiral. We were both 35 when he died.

This weekend is our wedding anniversary, and the one person who could help my spiraling over death is gone.

One whirlwind romance, an airport proposal, a COVID wedding, one intense international border/immigration, a new citizenship, and a life we were supposed to do together.

I’m not sure where one finds another guy who’s that awesome, trusting, loving, and chill . I’m also not sure I want to.

I mean… I’m positive I’ll never find someone again who only asked two questions when I took $10k out of our joint savings without asking, while also being unemployed:

  1. Did you do this?
  2. Is it for a divorce attorney? (Very jokingly.)

I don’t know what I hope to accomplish by writing this, and there is just so much more rumbling around in my head.
I guess if you’ve gotten this far, thank you for reading.

Make it make sense!

So Stanwood is a smaller community out of the way out on the water. You’re bypassing like ten other grocery stores that are closer, some like Safeway and Haggens are even in the same set of companies. Why on earth?

Would you have taken it?

I’m curious on everyone’s thoughts. Would you have taken this offer for $65? It was so easy to shop as most of what they wanted at Costco was fruit and veg, so all in one section. Shoutout to the helpful guys at my Office Depot. They were slow and eager to help, so they ran to the two different parts of the store to grab the two things I needed without prompting.

Specifically looking for under 40

I lost my person at 35. He had cancer twice as a teen and early 20 something. He always joked that he was here for a good time, not a long time. There were obvious reasons why he was and is in a better place, but how do you come back to a place (the lake) without your person and even try to enjoy yourself? It may seem simple, but it’s as serious as an anniversary.

Excessive mileage to store/to customer.

Does anyone have any idea why this order would need to come from Bellingham when there is another location just 6 to 8 miles from the customer? This isn’t the first time I’m seeing this either. There was an update offer last weekend to shop at a hardware chain and deliver 60 miles away. Again. Definitely locations in between the pickup and delivery points.
