i feel so empty after finale

i just finished rewatching the series after a few years, but a few years back i never watched the last 2 episodes because i couldn’t bring myself to finishing the series. and today, i finally did.

some of the plots over the last few season were lacking, and the ending… well, we all know, could’ve been better. i’d like to think that there are many good things that happened over those years we didn’t see, as cope. but it’s not even that, that hurts the most!

watching the character developments, watching such a beautiful and electric love blossom over 6 seasons, lucifer fighting his inner demons (pun intended) which personally, some aspects i can relate to, in a non-celestial way of course. the beauty and power of love and chosen families, forgiveness, faith, empathy, strength, self redemption and growth and purpose, etc…. so amazing. so beautiful. maybe slightly corny but also really entertaining and funny. oh my amenagod i’m going to miss this show so much.

if you can’t tell by now, im dramatically emotional and weirdly very attached to this show, ive been on a recent kick of rewatching all my comfort shows but god, this one hit the hardest. what should i watch now to fill the void?????

guarantor/application eligibility hell trying to rent in NYC

Hi all

First off, I genuinely want insight and opinions if this is the norm, I am new to this, so pleeeeeease don’t hate (partially also venting frustration regarding housing regulations in nyc)

So going into this housing situation, my roommate and I finally found an apartment we liked, is in our budget, in a lovely neighborhood, and is truly everything we ever wanted in an apartment; we have been on the hunt for over 3 months now.  The issues started arising once we began our application. I completely understand the requirements for meeting 40x the rent if you’re applying as an individual, and 80x the rent for a guarantor. I am a student, so I am using my dad as the guarantor, and my roommate will be applying as an individual. We were initially told that it's acceptable, especially because my dad did make 80x in 2024, but he made just below the cutoff in 2025 (he’s self-employed and was selling and acquiring new businesses over the last few years, so it wasn’t due to the change in income; it was simply a reinvestment my dad was going through last year). Our leasing agent initially told us that it is completely ok, as long as the CPA letter clearly outlines the income difference between the years and the projected income for this year, which would definitely be well above the 80x requirement for the entire apartment.

We submitted everything the way they wanted it, and some time goes by. Eventually, we are then told that the CPA letter isn’t enough bc the underwriters are only prioritizing 2025 income. Fine, I get it I guess.

We asked if we could be evaluated based on assets and cash we own, rather than income, because both in the CPA letter and our bank statements, it clearly shows that we have a couple hundred thousand in cash and millions in assets. After that, they said no once again. Alright, slightly difficult, but then we looked into other options.

We proposed we take my roommate off the lease, and I apply for a 3rd-party guarantor since they only accept that for students, and I am a student. The leasing agent told me that should be ok, but he’ll check. The next day, he gets back to me, and he says that management only allowed 3rd-party guarantors for international students. Ok, sure, I guess, but even more difficult for us.

Lastly, our final attempt is left to finding a 2nd personal guarantor. After going through most people we know, my dad’s CPA has kindly agreed to be a guarantor for us. But the issue is that he is also self-employed from running his own CPA firm, is 80 years old, and does everything on pen and paper, so he doesn’t have online banking/paystub accounts set up. A part of the application process is using a database to log in to ALL of your bank accounts/paystub accounts (I know it's encrypted or whatever, but seriously, who *enjoys* going through barriers of authentication for multiple banks and providing so much more sensitive information? I completely understand the logic for verifying income, but... isn't 2 years' worth of tax returns and IRS transcripts enough?). Obviously, it would be unreasonable for us to request our CPA to set up online banking and then give that information to 3rd-party services! Again, he’s a traditional paper trail kind of guy who gets extremely skeptical about these things (rightfully so with all these data breaches these days)! We offered to provide PDFs of his bank statements, all the tax return files they need, IRS Transcripts, a photocopy of ID, etc, instead. But to no one’s surprise, they said no again. They won’t even bother to look at the application unless we use this third-party service to link all of the bank accounts. The leasing agent also told me that its a very common issue with their guarantor applicants, and provided no accommodation regarding the matter.

Is it just me, or does that feel kind of ridiculous? I get that management companies have certain protocols and stuff. But isn’t that a bit… excessive? There has to be some accommodation for people who are much older and don’t use online banking? I managed to get in touch with one of the directors of the company, and even he said that underwriters should be able to manually verify income instead of using the third-party service, and they will talk to the supervisors and see. So we are waiting on that. I’m not hopeful at all because we had some people from the management company telling us that it’s absolutely not possible, while some told us there are workarounds.

I guess we are just taking it as a sign to move on and find something else, but you all may know how hard it is to find something that checks off all your boxes all within budget, especially given the summertime rental market in NYC and having roommates agree on an apartment. I understand that I should accept my losses and just settle for a place because it’s (sometimes) all about making sacrifices in NYC housing. But to me, it’s so disheartening and feels like an extremely unfortunate loss. We are more than qualified in terms of paying rent; both my roommate and I have enough money in our own accounts to pay for 7 years' worth of rent! But it hurts so much to let go of a place that we both finally agreed to and is genuinely our dream apartment.

Anyways, has anyone been in a similar situation? And came to a resolution? Or really end up giving up and finding something else?

TLDR; Roommate and I are financially more than qualified for our dream NYC apartment, but the guarantor process keeps hitting walls; dad's income dipped just under the cutoff in 2025, asset-based evaluation was rejected, 3rd-party guarantors are only for international students, and now our backup (my dad's 80-year-old, non-digital CPA) can't get approved because management insists on a bank-linking service instead of manual documents

*note: me, my dad, my dad's cpa, and my roommate have credit scores above 720+ each, so that has never been a concern.

how can i tell my narcissist roommate i dont want to live with anymore

basically, we've known each other for many years and decided to live together, however, over some time i started noticing things about how judgemental she is about my life, my friends, about people in general. she has very questionable values and essentially no morals. she was actively plotting to homewreck someone. she has made nasty comments about my bsf and belittled her. she is constantly making judgemental and condescending comments about my career. she is always saying some extremely fatphobic shit.

we have never had issues with each other particularly, and we co-habitat together pretty well, but her negativity and perception on life is so toxic and in an environment i no longer want to be in. idk how to break it to her that i no longer want to live with her because she genuinely thinks we are best friends, hence why she got comfortable enough to say such vile shit to me. i hate beef and i just know if i were to confront her about these things particularly, it would cause a lot of drama, and she would never want to speak ever again. im a very sensitive and emotional person, so even if shes a terrible person, i dont think i have the mental capacity to deal with drama and cutting off a friendship ive had for many years, i want to end things civilly.

i really dont know what to do. im on the brink of telling her that i just want to move back home just to avoid any conflict and drama but i dont want to lie too much either. its a tough situation....

none of my friends like my best friend.. and idk if i do either

It's a really long story how this came about, but essentially this came up bc there was a miscommunication between my roommate and me regarding some things we were planning with my best friend. It resulted in my roommate saying some mean things about my best friend and essentially "banishing" her from our apartment. It's fair to set boundaries in a shared living situation, but it rubbed me the wrong way with how it came out. Her saying she doesnt like my best friend, thinks its weird how on and off me and my best friend are, that she "dodged a bullet", at some other things... this instance with my roommate is the primary concern -- I should add though, she has been moving really weird w me recently and does/says extremely morally questionable things-- but her saying how she doesnt like my bsf at all and doesnt want her at the apt... I know her opinion is just an opinion, and a relationship between people runs a lot deeper than what just a roommate observes (because in the end, she's not really a close friend of mine, because we have very different morals and perspectives on life), so her words in a time of heightened emotion shouldn't affect me this much, but it still made me start thinking about how a lot of my other friends dont like her either for some of the same reasons.

me and my bsf tend to fight often, and I often share that w my other friends from time to time when its something i need insight on. she has intense anger issues, but so do i, so we have an extremely complex relationship. to be quite honest, there has been many times where I question if i like her as a person too, but it runs very deep. We have a lot of history, depth, and love in our friendship, so it's very hard to let go of. But sometimes, I can't help but wonder if my other friends are right. She's not a very appealing person on a surface level, but she has gotten me through so many things bc she has emotional depth. But when we do fight, it gets nasty, and sometimes I dislike her so intensely. But at the end of the day, it always ends the same way: we apologize to each other, and all is well. However, sometimes the cycle of repetitive mishaps makes me question things-- whether I continue to keep her as a best friend if I genuinely cherish our friendship and keep going back to it, or because it's convenient and I'm afraid of being alone.

I don't have a lot of friends, especially not even close ones. For me, having a community and friends is so important bc I grew up as an only child in a very mundane life where I had severe depression because of how alone I felt, so the idea of losing friends makes me feel like my world is falling apart. I've always had a lot of friend problems my entire life, constantly losing people, so im kinda at the point where I don't want to do anything anymore to jeopardize what I already have. So, I guess the point of my rant is that I really don't know what to do, I don't know if I could bring myself to cut either of these people off, because I don't know what I would do if I were all alone. Idk if anyone else is going through similar things, and how they went about it..

106/104 Fleet Place + 163/165 Willoughby Street (The Fleet)

Im aware this is a new development so no one has lived in it yet, but I was wondering if anyone knows the property management group (it says rentopia is apart of it, but I thought theyre just a generic rental website like streeteasy) that has an intel on how it might be? we were thinking of putting an application in because the units and pricing along with amenities, seem too good to be true. we were told the amenities wont be available until mid-August but idk how much to trust that because I've had rental problems in the past where we were promised access to specific things and it was completely untrue.

i can go on this rant for hours but all i can say is that doing practice questions and studying is starting to drive me into a wall. im actuallly borderline having thoughts of unaliving myself just to release me from the pain of studying (not that i would actually EVER do that dw bc i know its absurd, but i do fantasize about it), and i know its not that serious and i can just push the mcat back more or choose a different career path, but i dont want that. i genuinely feel like i have no purpose if not being a doctor. but god freaking damn, this mcat is driving me insane!! the kicker is that im not even studying as hard as i should be!!!!!!! ive taken too many "mental health" days and then it just puts me into a further pit of guilt abt how i didnt study enough. PLEASE HELP i cannot escape this feeling of despair, its so.... miserable (it also really doesn't help that my personal life is in the gutter rn and i have no support system besides my parents.. who try not to pressure me but they definitely are pressuring me so!)

how do u guys combat this feeling is impending doom and despair while studying : (
