I’ve been seeing a lot of arguments for and against MiniMuse recently. While discourse is healthy and actually conducive to growth (as a community, and for MiniMuse as a game), I’ve been seeing a lot of extreme takes one way or another.

It isn’t fair to simplify down complaints about MiniMuse to “oh different art style” and “you’re just not used to new things.” It also isn’t fair to say “ew, MiniMuse SUCKS and I don’t get why anyone would use it!!!”

Everyone has different preferences and opinions. It’s okay to not like MiniMuse, even to hate it. It’s okay to express your love for MiniMuse. What’s not okay is to dismiss other’s concerns and complaints or make people feel bad about liking something.

“People only like MiniMuse because it’s new and hyped up” – that’s not necessarily true! MiniMuse is a genuinely promising game with a passionate team and engaged community. I may have my issues with it right now, but I’m sure it will improve and I’m excited to see that.

“You just don’t like MiniMuse’s UI because you’re not used to it” – this is not a valid assumption to make. Any UI can be displeasing to anyone. It’s fine for someone to dislike MiniMuse’s UI. It’s also fine for people to dislike GL2 or Gacha Club’s UI. I must admit, I am personally not the biggest fan of the UI, and that’s okay. I do want to use MiniMuse in some occasions in the future, so I’ll just deal with it, or submit respectful feedback.

“Stop being negative” – respectful complaints and disliking something in general is not unwarranted negativity, and also, being negative is not inherently a bad thing. Without criticism, how are we supposed to grow as people? This doesn't really apply to unfounded and shoddy grievances.

"I don't like MiniMuse" - okay, great! Then don't use it right now :) express your opinion if you'd like though, but remember to stay respectful.

"I like MiniMuse" - okay, also great! Then keep using it, give constructive feedback if you feel like it, but don't disregard the fact there are people who dislike it for valid reasons.

"Why do we have to be respectful to people we disagree with?" - because that is how mature people interact with each other! It costs nothing to be considerate and it fosters a more welcoming community.

"I HATE MINIMUSE" - this is bad criticism.

"I have a few issues with MiniMuse" (and elaboration) - this is typically well structured criticism.

"I LOVE MINIMUSE YAY" -Yay!!! :D

"I don't get why everyone says MiniMuse is hard" - kinda rude and dismissive of how people can and will struggle with this game.

I'm personally excited to see how MiniMuse develops from here, even if I'm not personally the biggest fan of it (yet). The devs put a lot of energy and heart into this project, and they deserve that praise.

so I've lowk always found pants in GL2 kinda boring...that's why I always use shorts and skirts...but I did this thing! and I like very much!! yay!!!!!!

I haven't seen anyone else do this pants thing (or the shirt logo) anywhere, so I guess I'm being original?

I showed the adjustments I used! I'm sure you can also use the other foot accessories (as shown in 4th image), which I do plan to use someday!!

I would say that you guys should also play around with this on your own. Some ideas I want to try are just shortening the foot accessory to be just the length below the knee, or with different shading, etc.

also I played around with posing (bending legs), and I think it will be okay too!! all you have to do when you pose, is to shorten the foot accessory (the part that makes the pants look wrinkly). When I tried it, it didn't look off or jarring, so I think it should be fine!! yeahhhhhhh :D

I'm a big fan of easy poseability.

I play GL2 on PC btw! I just cropped it weird...

Also, for u/Mew_Kyu's OC, the Gacha Life redesign is so different because I received a different reference image from him and since he was unavailable when I was making the post image, I took a different but similar ish Annastasia.

Got pretty good at Bedrock PVP because I used to only have Bedrock, and just recently got Java. I started trying to get decent at PVP about 3 days ago, and whenever I queue in unranked duels on pvpclub, people tend to be kinda rude when they see how ass I am. I get I'm ass, but is there really a need to say it? 😭 Is the PVP community on servers toxic or am I just that shit ?

I played a bot for 20 minutes and I did get better ig.

oh yeah, should I look into getting a mouse? probably just something cheap. I currently play with a touchpad

1. Avelina (brown cat) is quite nice and easygoing, though there are some particular types of people she dislikes. Vivian (snow leopard) is a bit indecisive but overall more judgy, despite being more shy. Don't get offended by any of their opinions, and yeah!

I chose these two to use because they are one of my most "normal" couples, since their arc is set in my more fluffy/wholesome and realistic storyline. (High school water polo girls/boys in a universe where everyone has animal features!!) Most of my OC ships are a lot more complicated/angsty...

It's been quite upsetting seeing a rise of unwarranted (and almost always unwanted) criticism of each other's specific styles. This has always been a problem, but I've been seeing people grow bolder about this recently. There is genuinely no real good reason to make a post calling a specific kind of style "weird" or "jarring" or anything else negative.

Most people are not going to change their style just because you make a post saying how much you dislike their kind of style. All this does is make some people feel bad about their own style.

If someone makes an "I dislike this kinda style" post so they can see if others agree with them, a kind of seeking solidarity of sorts, that's quite childish and immature - and honestly, comes off as so rude and mean - to be bonding over agreeing on how much you dislike seeing a real human being's Gacha style that they probably quite love.

Yes, it earns you quick karma. Yes, you may be happy to see others agree with you. But at the end of the day, what these posts are saying do affect others. Imagine how you would feel if people constantly commented on your posts, "why is your style so xyz", "why do you do xyz in your style", "I don't really like your style, sorry".

To those people who dislike small head + long leg styles because "Gacha is meant to be chibi" - just because you have that point of view that Gacha = chibi, does not mean that the game actually intends for a chibi style! That is what you believe and your impression. There are plenty of presets in both Gacha Club (from what I remember) and GL2 that are very realistic or non chibi styles.

The art even inside of Gacha Club is often not chibi. Gacha World, which was one of Lunime's first Gacha games, does NOT have a chibi style! Even in Gacha Life (1), there was an option for smaller heads. Lunime Gacha games were never meant as only chibi.

Negativity and complaining that doesn't bring about positive change really is no good. It always is harmful. I've had friends quit because of too much needless criticism. It costs nothing to be kind. It costs nothing to just downvote and scroll, or block and scroll, or just...scroll!

There is nothing wrong with small heads + long legs styles! There is nothing wrong with chibi styles! There is nothing wrong with styles that are in between. Whether you have simpler designs, more detailed designs, in between, or a mix, everyone's style is fun to look at and we shouldn't be criticising styles if unasked for.

TLDR: If you have nothing nice to say about someone's Gacha style, just please, don't say it! Unless they're asking for critique on their style specifically.

I would love to see your style if you'd like to share, and I'd like to compliment everyone's style individually because we are all unique and creative humans that have all developed our own different personal Gacha styles - and all in the same app! It's amazing to see how different our styles all are.

Grey hair (Orion) is the critical one. He is overly honest and will be quite rude if he dislikes something. Blonde hair (Castiel/Cassity) is a bit nicer and will compliment you on what you have done well. am I using these OCs so people don't get mad if I'm blunt? yes

I made a post about this OC recently and someone called him a twink. Fine, whatever, I hate that, but maybe they just skimmed over my post and didn't see where I said not to. I have it stated in my profile not to do that and when I have posted here before, I always make it clear. I state it in most of my posts involving my male OCs unless they're kids or something (which should be a given to not label a kid a twink or femboy...)

I told them politely to not call my OCs femboys or twinks and for some reason, got down voted 😭 this reminded me of how some of my friends have told me when they defend themselves or express boundaries (for example, telling people their OC is a boy when people mistake them for a girl or telling people their boundaries about their OCs), they often get down voted for simply having preferences and being uncomfortable with certain subjects.

Respect your fellow Gacha creators and acknowledge that many of them don't like when you directly cross their boundaries/rules. If they restate to you their boundary after you break it, then respect that and own up to it. We're people, not just random floating profiles.

Edit: Adding on to this whole topic, please treat each other like we're human. I'd strongly advise not to idolise any online figure because that gets uncomfortable for both that idol and sometimes for you. If you want to compliment someone? great!! :D but everyone has boundaries and it would do well to remember those. A lot of people are also scared to firmly set their boundaries. I know I am, so even if I'm upset, I try to be polite and kind about it. I will probably be more assertive about restating boundaries in the future.

If you dislike someone's style, please just don't be rude about it and comment it for no reason. I've seen this happen way too much. So what if you think someone's style is "ugly" or "weird?" That's subjective. Remember, at the end of the day, there's a human behind the screen.
