How long till I hear back after a Hiring Manager Interview?

So recently had an interview with the Hiring Manager and I think it went well (I say this because i honestly dont know what a good/bad interview is anymore so I am not thinking much about that), and was wondering how long would it be till i get an update about a rejection or the next round.

I ask this because the first step in the process was an AI interview. I received an automated rejection email the very next day, but later ended up receiving an invitation to interview with the Hiring Manager. I also emailed the recruiter to ask about the general timeline for next steps a day after the interview, mainly because I don't want to be caught off guard like last time but they haven't replied yet.

For those who've been through similar hiring processes, how long did it take you to hear back after a Hiring Manager interview (it has been a few days so am I screwed)? And is there any reliable way to tell whether an interview went well, or is it really just a waiting game at this point?

Would appreciate hearing about your experiences!

I don't know how to get out of the situation I am in

I don't know if I have depression or is it just a momentary thing but I am not able to get out of this cycle. I am currently looking for a job and it has been almost 10 months since I graduated, I have not been able to find anything yet and it has been deteriorating my mental health. I wake up everyday from the most vivid dreams, no matter how much sleep i get i always feel tired and sleepy, I have no motivation to do anything I like, i am not able to go out because I feel so alone and feel like i have eyes on me judging me for being unable to get a job (I am not able to even go on a walk), i have let myself go completely and gained weight, i stay on my phone all day scrolling reels because if i stop i just overthink about everything and anything i have ever done.

I know what i am doing is very damanging and it does not feel good in doing so but i can't stop, i was always the "smart" one in the family and now that i am stuck i feel so worthless. I want to go to therapy but i cant afford it right now, i want to make myself better because i hate being like this and i recognize this is an issue but i am not able to get out of this situation. I live in another place so i don't have a lot of close friends here to talk to about this and the friends that i am close with are thousands of miles away and in different stages of their lives so reaching out to them also feels difficult. I don't even like talking to my parents because it feels like i have let them down.

I find me comparing myself to other people and friends when i see their posts on Instagram or Linkedin always thinking "if they were able to move forward in life why am i not able to, i deserve that too" or i think " are they better than me? is that why i am stuck in a rut right now" like i am jealous instead of being happy for them, and I know it is such a toxic way of thinking but i find myself getting fixated on that part.

The worst part is that even though I am aware of how bad it is, I have no motivation to make it better either. I feel addicted to my phone but I continue to be on it. If I put my phone away I become numb or start crying. I try to do my chores to distract myself but they don't help at the end of the day. I don't feel like eating either but then I suddenly start binge eating at times as well. It is so confusing, I really feel so lost and don't know what to do or how to get out of this situation. I am writing this right now because it might be the first time it has been out there and it feels lighter to get it out there but i know that feeling won't last long.

TIFU by forgetting excel in an interview

TL;DR: I got anxious, and completely forgot Excel formulas despite calling myself an advanced user. 🤡

Today I had an interview and I feel like it was doomed to begin with. The interviewers had some technical issues on their end, and because of that, the interview started almost 10 minutes late (it was 30 minutes).

When we started a few questions. They couldn’t hear me because of the aforementioned technical issues and they had to exit the meeting and join back again after few minutes.

At this point. I started getting anxiety and was getting brain fog as well because half of the time was already over when we finally started the questions but it was going good until they asked me about Excel.

They asked me if I have used it and what would be my proficiency and how would I rate myself? I said I would rate myself as an intermediate to advance level excel user, but they followed up and asked if I could list out any formulas, I have used in Excel and I could not come up with anything like not even =SUM(). I sat there for a good five seconds before telling them that I don’t remember anything right now, and after that, even with all the the interview ended on time, so yeah 🤡

Transferring my spot in a tech career coaching program (SWE, AI/ML, Data Analytics, PM)

Hi everyone,

Due to a change in my personal circumstances, I’m looking to transfer my spot in a tech career accelerator program focused on helping candidates break into and advance in the tech industry.

The program is designed for people targeting roles such as:
Software Engineering (SWE)
AI/ML Engineering
Data Analytics / Data roles
Product Management

The program includes:
Career strategy and job search guidance
Resume and LinkedIn reviews
Weekly Interview preparation and mock interviews
Technical and non-technical career support
Coaching sessions and access to career resources

The transfer would require taking over the remaining program commitment. If you’re actively looking for support breaking into tech and are interested in learning more, feel free to DM me. I can share additional details.

Thank you!

How long should I till I follow up with Tesla’s recruiter?

So I had a hiring manager phone screen round for a TPM role at Tesla (initially it was supposed to be a video interview I guess because that is what the recruiter said). It has been a week since then and I haven’t received a rejection or an email for another round. I have read that they move pretty fast in their hiring process so should I consider this a silent rejection? Or follow up with the recruiter? And in how many days would it be appropriate to follow up?

Chances of getting an interview for Google APM 2026?

I am looking to go into more PM roles and I am currently a TPM with 3yoe and come from a Mech. Eng. backgroud and have an MS in Eng. Mng., given all this what are my chances to even get an interview for the google APM role? Are they open to Non-CS background folks? I have exp with programming languages and I also know how competitive it is.

Just wanted to know if coming from a Non-CS, is there even a slight chance in getting an interview? If anyone has a similar background, I would love to hear from you. Also do refrerrals help?

How do you get over the nerves before an interview?

Are there any ways people get over their nerves before interviews?

I have given around 2 interviews now, since months of searching for a full time job. When I was searching for internships, I was able to give interviews confidently and performed well enough for them to give me an internship offer.

But now when I was finally able to get an interview from a FAANG Company, I was so scared of the thought of losing my chance at the company that I don’t think I performed as well as i thought I did. I prepped for days before the interview but received a rejection from the company even though the interviewers (2 1:1) and I had a good conversation. They didn’t exactly tell me the reason since it was an automated rejection and now I am scared and nervous that if I get a chance at another company, I might screw it up without knowing what I did wrong.

How to get over such nerves? Because I don’t want to play with my chances or screw up again by being scared of losing the chance.

I don’t know if I explained myself properly but I hope I got the point across. Any tips or advice would work!

Job reposted on the company's website after I interviewed

So I interviewed with a company on Friday and until Sunday of that weekend I couldn't see the job post on the website but I see the post today (Monday) again.

I know it is bad and looks like I might not get the job but since I haven't recieved a rejection yet should I follow up with the recruiter? Like today or still wait a few days or should I just move on?

The interview, imo, went fairly well but seeing that update makes me think that I might have been delusional about that. I don't have the email of the person I interviewed with and only the recruiter so following up with them is the only option.

Please let me know what to do.

Drew’s latest video

I wasn’t paying attention but at first glance the cover of his latest video just seemed like him in different outfits with Danny.

Specifically the two people at the bottom left of the cover 😭😭

What is the difference between hourly and salaried employees? And what does it mean for benefits?

So I was going through the Apple careers’s page and saw a few jobs had an hourly rate vs a few were salaried.

As all of the positions were corporate and for Apple Park, I am confused about what does it mean for benefits and the other stuff?

Do people still get those or just the hourly pay with OT? What does it mean for employees who need sponsorships (like H1B) as well?

Is there something going on at the Track and Field today?

Are there tryouts going on? Or was it something else? Because it didn’t look like tryouts, but there were a lot of people there

How do you prevent burnout from job hunting?

I have been job searching for 5-6 months now and I feel like I am burnt out. I open LinkedIn scroll through posts, jobs, etc. and not apply to anything. Even when I find a job I think I am a good fit for, I just open it in a new tab and keep scrolling, this has been going on for the past 2 weeks now.

It’s not like I haven’t applied to ANY jobs but it is down to 2-3 applications a day. As someone who is early career I know I should be doing a lot more applications and I do feel the guilt of not applying to as many as I should but my mind goes blank as soon as I sit down to apply for jobs. Even those few applications feel exhausting!

How do you prevent burnout and get back on track?

I have gone on walks, taken a break, etc. and those didn’t work so looking for some advice other job seekers might have.

How many job applications did it take for you to get a job at Google?

I am thinking of giving up on this company entirely because I truly don’t know what to else to do.

I am currently at 27 job applications with 0 callbacks, out of which 3 of them were applied via a referral but no responses there except for a “thanks but no thanks” automated mail.

These aren’t SWE roles and mostly TPM/PM (supply chain and ops), early level role. I personally have around ~2 yoe and 70% of the jobs I have applied to fit my profile almost exactly but still no responses. I was pushing myself thinking that it’s big tech so of course it’s not going to be easy but I feel like it’s no use applying to the company anymore.

Wanted any info on how long it took others to get a job there? And if after these many apps is it even worth it or should I give up and move on?

How to get an interview at MAANG?

I had a referral for Google and applied to 3 positions (2 were matching exactly with my skill set and 1 was 80% of the way there). The referral was from a senior at the company and has been there for almost a decade but I got rejections for all three and not even a recruiter call was setup.

I know referrals don’t guarantee interviews but I have come across profiles with less skills and qualifications get interviews at the company while I can’t even get past the recruiter screen.

I am targeting TPM/PM roles and have rewrote my resume countless times, changed to the XYZ format, followed the guilds lines and tried to make my resume as clear as possible to showcase my skills but still nothing.

Any help or advice is appreciated on how to get past this stage not just for Google but also for other MAANG Companies!

I feel so behind in life

I feel so behind. Some of my friends have found jobs right now and are moving forward in their life while I feel so stuck. I still haven’t found a job after graduation (it’s been almost 6 months) and everything I did in my life feels like it was for nothing. Like every move I made was wrong and it led to here where I am just stuck, can’t find a job and can’t move on from my college. While the rest of my friends are moving to new cities for their jobs, buying cars and expanding their life and career.
At some point I might start going backwards.

It is so frustrating because this is the first time I have been stuck for such a long time, I don’t know what I am doing wrong nor what I am doing right, at this point I don’t know if it’s my bad luck or what.

The friends who haven’t found a job yet, I don’t have good relations with them anymore due to some fallout (another story altogether) but they still seem put together (maybe they aren’t and that is just what they show). But I feel like a mess due to all of this and it is demotivating me to even work hard anymore because everytime I just think “what’s even the point”

What counts as experience?

I'm trying to understand how recruiters and hiring managers evaluate experience, especially for PM/TPM roles.

I recently completed my MS and, during grad school, held several paid on campus/university positions with significant ownership.

My question is: when job descriptions ask for "2+ years of experience," how do recruiters typically view university-employed roles that involve real program management, stakeholder management, process improvement, reporting, and delivery ownership?

Do these roles generally count as professional experience, or are they viewed differently because they were held while pursuing a graduate degree?

I have been rejected from roles in the past due to "lack of experience" so would love to hear perspectives from recruiters, hiring managers, and anyone who has gone through a similar transition from graduate school into PM/TPM roles.

Having sex with the same guy in my dream 😭

Ok so I have had this dream 3-4 times now. It is the same guy, from what I remember when I wake up. He is not someone I have ever seen or know of but I have had this dream with him almost 3-4 times already and in the same scenario. I am out on vacation with friends, I meet him, we click and then have sex and then try to find places to have sex, like weird places 😭😭

If it was just the situation I would be totally fine with it but it is always the same guy and that is what is making me scratch my head. The guy isn’t someone I know and he is someone I wouldn’t typically go for (muscular build type). Does it mean something? Am I missing something? It is getting weird for me and I feel like a creep as well for dreaming of someone like this again and again 🥴

The other part is the sex is always great and what i actually like without me having to say anything.

I am seeing a new trend of not applying until you can get a referral

I have been job hunting for a few months and my Instagram feed is filled with “job search hacks”, tips and tricks. I am seeing a lot of people now post about a new thing (at least for me) that is basically “no cold applications, only referrals”. Which means unless you can’t get a referral for a job, don’t apply.

Curious if anyone in the real world is doing this right now? I am a new grad so if anyone is willing to share stats about their reach outs vs the responses and what worked vs what didn’t, would appreciate it!

I personally haven’t. I reach out to people and if they respond and are willing to refer me, great. But if not I apply anyway because I don’t want to miss out on the chance.

Who can I contact for issues with Amazon’s OA?

I recently applied for a role and received the link for an OA. But when I go on my application dashboard I am not able to see the link. This has happened for a couple of applications already. I have already followed a couple of troubleshooting steps but nothing worked and I am not able to contact any support for this and neither am able to get in touch with an HRs who could help.

Any advice? I have responded to a couple of posts who were facing the same issue, waiting for an update from there as well.

Anyone know who I can contact?
