You up for a chat RIGHT now?? (June 25 PM, from now until 9 PM) - McKinley Park

I’m hanging out at the ASL table (43 M). Yah I’m Deaf and i’ll hear you out anyways. Don’t need to know ASL (i’ll teach/show you useful signs you could use in practical situations whenever you meet a Deaf person).

From 7 PM until 9 PM tonight at Maria’s Packaged Goods and Community Bar (https://maps.app.goo.gl/MkgCaU5XXgro2WKS6?g\_st=ic)

Must go through the store to get to bar in the back, I’m around the corner and the only person with Hearing Aids. Come down and say “👋”. Tell me how was your week and whatcha looking forward to!

IDL Oatmeal Raisins Bars in USA’s economy.

The only fucking way i can buy oatmeal raisins granola bars in USA is through this when they used to have boxes of .just. oatmeal raisins granola bars… they stopped selling them after the health scare/recall over these specific granola bars

By the look of this, I thought they started running 24 hours already (not yet)

I appreciate the stations that strategically place the trash bag bin on the way in/out of the station.

New Bench at Western Orange Line

Faces south, my favorite color and it’s comfortably low. Perfect while waiting for the loop bound train but kinda surprised by the location. Recommended!

Moving Info - storage units

Avoid making the mistake of having to get a Chicago storage unit without checking what they mean

1st Floor Unit = Unit located on ground level”

“10ft x 15ft (150 sq ft)
Amenities:
Self Storage, 1st Floor Unit, indoor access, Climate Controlled
Location:
Indoor Access, 1st Floor, Fully Enclosed”

Much earlier than the (this) weekend you have to move your stuff into a Chicago storage unit to find out that the “1st floor” means “the first full floor from the ground” because it used to be a Chicago warehouse that got converted in a storage unit, so first floor starts basically 3-6 feet from the ground

Tldr: check the storage unit and see how it’s laid out before buying into the internet deal without checking… now i gotta fight a flight of stairs or an elevator to get to the first floor…. God forgive my body, it’s already chipping away my “moving logic”…

Redline is shit at communicating

05/28/26, 11:18 AM, two red line train back to back before north and clybourn (i got on at roosevelt), it literally took 20 mins to go from roosevelt to before north and clybourn. Train operator says nothing while we sit before we even get to north and clybourn.

How the fuck do CTA keep allowing trains and buses to be riding on each other’s asses like the Chicago jukebox dance instead of actually sending the front train/bus to run express when they used to do it right??

Your community involvement

As a Deaf guy living in Chicago, I have to ask the Deaf community (our entire Deaf community), how many of you actually volunteer your time in participating in activities for the Deaf community?

I ask because I recently volunteered my time for Deaf youth activities (approximately 150 Deaf kids from elementary to middle school programs across the entire city of Chicago) and there was less than 2 handful of Deaf adults and the rest were hearing adults helping us make this activity happen for the ~150 Deaf kids who really didn’t know any ASL.

Instead of me being disappointed and frustrated by Deaf adults not being there for the Deaf kids, I just wanted to know if any of you at least volunteer your time once in your life for the Deaf community?

The look of the Deaf kids not being able to see Deaf adults being there because a hearing person is there for them instead, is what erodes the fabric of our community.

**Deaf adults: You should, could and hopefully would, be there for the Deaf kids (so our language, culture and community can persevere).**

▲ 6 r/Amtrak

I’m currently riding the Amtrak from Chicago to Syracuse, NY and for curiosity’s sake, I took a look at Google and Apple Maps to see if it’d tell me how much time i have left to get to Syracuse (riding between Rochester and Syracuse stop).

Wouldn’t it make sense to include Amtrak information into the maps apps? Apple maps says transit is not available even tho my GPS dot shows me riding the Amtrak route on my way to Syracuse… Google Maps wants me to take an entirely different route that includes using Greyhound but leaving Amtrak option completely off the radar…

What are your thoughts?
