Preseason

Watching this Nuggets/Jazz preseason game that they are playing in Boulder and I am missing when the Celtics used to do this. As a Worcesterite I would love if they did a preseason game at the DCU every year like they used to.

Quiet Restaurant

My parents (mid 70s) are coming for a visit this weekend and want to get dinner somewhere where we can "hear each other talk". It's not something I usually pay attention to so I am asking you people. Recommendations for a good, quiet restaurant?

Steak Tip Sub

Does anyone in Waltham do a good steak tip sub? My wife is going to be there today and I would love to have her bring one home.

Odds on Player Performance/ Expectations

Tatum, George, White and Robinson: Need them to just be who they always have been. Odds are great with Tatum. I think D White will return to form with Tatum back, allowing him to play off ball more, which I think he's more comfortable with. With Paul George and Mitchell Robinson it's health right? I think when they are healthy and they are playing they are going to be who they are. I think the odds are good that this goes well.

Pritchard and Queta: They need to continue towards their fully formed role on this team. I think for Pritchard this needs to be as a starting borderline all star point guard. I really think and hope he can do this, but I am not super certain of it. Queta needs to work on effectively defending without fouling and his pick and roll game with Tatum and Pritchard. I fully believe he can do this.

Scheierman, Gonzales, Walsh and Harper Jr: The young wings. I think at least 1, hopefully 2 of them can take a giant leap forward into being a permanent inarguable rotation player. I think the odds are really good that between the 4 of them that one does. The challenge for coaching and player development is going to be bringing all 4 along but recognizing when one has made it and giving him the minutes.

Garza and Hauser: Come in and do your thing. Whatever the coaches need from you, you get in there and do it to the best of your abilities. Garza needs to be energy and positivity on the bench when he's not playing, which he seems to be great at.

Conley: Player/coach. Work with everyone on everything. Be a good voice on the bench. Be yourself in the limited minutes you get. 100% faith in this being successful.

Williams and Cenac Jr.: Develop. Work on your game. Become NBA players. Be impactful when given opportunities. Push for minutes by springtime.

Mitchell: Go to Maine, be controlled with your defense, harness the athleticism, and develop a shot.

Greendales

With it being announced on social media today that Greendales is closing i have a question. Could Worcester support another live music venue. One that concentrated on local and regional acts?

Anxiety

Anyone watching pregame just hear what Kenny said about creating anxiety in your opponent? He said that and I realized that the Celtics play with anxiety a lot. They talk about how it's "a game of runs" but so often you will see a team go on a run and they will just abandon their game for things that don't work, sometimes even while they are still up. They gotta get to a measured, unshakable confidence.

Just Finished My First Rewatch in 20 years

Incredible how well this show holds up. I didn't find hardly anything dated or any of the thoughts that I couldn't apply to today.

My biggest take away that I did not have the first time was the characters conversations with their Dad and how different each of their individual interactions were with him. How with Claire he always seemed like he was up for a good time, David he was always serious, and Nate he was always busting balls, but in a really mean spirited way. As they grow and change as people so do their interactions, really their memories, of their father, especially Nate who sees him so sympathetically by the end.

Such an unbelievably inciteful study of people.

Altruism

Which character is most selfless force for good in the show?

Some thoughts on nominees:

Kima: Her code and ethics seem to be beyond reproach but she has a little too much cop in her. Something about that rubs me the wrong way, but she's definitely a candidate.

Daniels: The same as above but a little less, and maybe the true sign of his character is that in the end he gets out all together.

Bunny: Strong candidate. Really understands in the end that regular policing isn't doing anything and that the best way for him to impact a change is by changing one person.

Cutty: I think this would be my pick. He is truly offering the neighborhood kids something different and networking with other people and organizations doing the same.

Carver: In the end (and I think in the future, past the show's timeline) i think he is going to do his best to bring integrity to Baltimore Police Department leadership.

What say you?

Easy off the highway restaurant

Hi everyone, hoping you can help. My wife and I are from Central Mass and find ourselves going to different places in upstate NY and it always seems as though the Capital District is the halfway point. We would like to find a regular place just off the highway to stop, get lunch, and take a break. Preferably not a chain. For instance on Labor Day we are going up to Lake Placid.

I am sure you guys have recs and I look forward to reading them. Thanks for your help!

Rainy Day Recs

Hi all.

We are going to be in your city on Wednesday and Thursday of next week and I am driving myself crazy looking at the weather like every hour. 😃

I know it rains a little every day in New Orleans but I am looking for some indoor recs should we get stuck with all day rain.

Just an FYI, I have some mobility issues but I have a power wheelchair, which is not rain proof. I can walk some, just not a lot.

I'm 53 so I am not sure if anyone can answer this, but how did Worcester get so many concerts in the 90s? Not just at the Centrum, but at the Auditorium too. I am trying to wrap my head around this as it seems like it would take an act of God to make Worcester a regular touring stop again. Thoughts I have are WAAF holding some influence back then along with Strawberries, both of which were loyal to Central MA but had regional profile. Anyone with any knowledge know why this was?
