23yo, 55kg and skinny. Should I join boxing, Muay Thai or something else for self defence?

I am 23yo, around 55kg and pretty skinny with not much muscle. I was planning to join a gym and start gaining some muscle, but now I am thinking of joining a combat sport instead.

I have basically zero fighting experience. I have not been in a fight since I was around 15 and I lost a few fights back in school.

The main thing I want to improve is that I dont really have the courage to punch. I am scared of getting into a situation where I need to defend myself or someone close to me, and I feel like I might just freeze.

I am not looking to become a fighter or get into random fights. I just want to be physically fit, become more confident and learn how to actually punch and defend myself if I ever have to.

For people who have trained in combat sports, what would you recommend for this?

Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ or something else?

I mainly want something where I can learn to actually strike and defend against strikes, while also getting used to sparring and physical confrontation. I dont want something that is only fitness/cardio with no actual fighting practice.

I am thinking of training 2 to 3 times a week initially. I can add regular strength training later if needed.

Also, since I am only 55kg and have basically no muscle, should I focus on gaining weight/strength first or can I just start combat sports now and build strength alongside it?

Would appreciate advice from people who actually train, especially if you started out skinny or with no fighting experience.

Need some good perfume suggestions under 250-500 rs

Hi guys

Me and my brother want to buy some perfumes, mostly EDP. Our budget is around ₹250-500.

We searched a couple of subreddits but honestly pretty confused about what to buy. Someone suggested Arabian Aroma Seduction, so was thinking about that too.

We bought Fogg Impressio before and tbh it was pretty good for ₹220-250. Lasted around 2 months and the smell lasted pretty long, like 10-12 hrs, but after some time the smell got weak.

We dont like very strong perfumes tho, they give us a sharp headache.

So please suggest some good perfumes in the ₹250-500 range. Should I go for indian brands like Fogg? I have heard alot of slander about Fogg on this subreddit lol.

Also looked at Bella Vita, Park Avenue EDP and Villain, but kinda confused which one is actually worth buying.

Also my brother sweats a bit, so where should we apply perfume? On shirt or directly on body? Does it make any difference in how long it lasts?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Looking for a veg only Mens PG near JC Road (Sampangi Rama Nagar) | Budget 5k to 20k

Hey Bengaluru folks,

I am currently looking for a men's PG near JC Road, specifically around 1st Cross, Sampangi Rama Nagar (Bengaluru 560027).

My main condition is that it has to be a strict vegetarian-only PG. I also really need basic amenities like daily food, laundry services, and decent wifi included in the rent. Since finding a good place can be tricky, I am specifically looking for PGs that have good reviews or ones that you guys can personally vouch for.

My budget is quite flexible, anywhere from 5k up to 20k per month. I am totally fine with single or double sharing as long as the place is clean, well maintained, and peaceful.

Does anyone have any good PG suggestions in this exact area? If you have any direct contact numbers of PG owners or caretakers, please drop them in the comments or feel free to DM me.

Any leads would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!Looking for a veg only Mens PG near JC Road (Sampangi Rama Nagar) | Budget 5k to 20k

Passport Police Verification Stuck Due to Missing Rent Agreement - Need Legal Advice

I am facing an issue during passport police verification in Mumbai and would appreciate some legal guidance.

I have been staying in the same rented apartment continuously since 2022 (around 4 years now). The police officer handling my passport verification is asking for proof covering the previous year and specifically wants the rent agreement/document for 2024-2025.

My situation:

  • I have the current year's notarized rent document.
  • I have older rent documents covering my stay from 2022-2024.
  • I do not have the 2024-2025 document anymore.
  • My landlord claims he also does not have the original or a copy of that document.
  • The landlord is refusing to sign any declaration, affidavit, or letter confirming that I have been residing there since 2022.
  • I have supporting documents showing the same address, including a gas bill, a notarized HUF declaration mentioning my residence at this address, and an income certificate (although I am not sure whether the income certificate would be considered valid address proof for passport verification).
  • All of these documents point to the same address where I have been living continuously.

I visited the passport office near St. Xavier's, Mumbai, and was informed that a declaration from the landlord stating that I have been residing there since 2022 and that the previous document was lost could potentially help. However, the landlord is unwilling to sign anything.

The police officer has stated that he cannot proceed without the missing 2024-2025 rent document and has asked me to "find it somehow." He has not indicated whether the alternative documents I possess would be accepted.

I am not looking to create, backdate, or alter any document, as that would obviously create legal issues.

My questions are:

  1. Is a police verifier legally entitled to insist on a specific rent document if multiple other address proofs exist?
  2. What alternatives can be accepted when an old rent agreement is unavailable?
  3. Is there any escalation mechanism within the Passport Seva/Police Verification process if the officer refuses to consider alternative proofs?
  4. Can continuous residence be established through a combination of old rent agreements, gas bills, Aadhaar, bank statements, HUF declaration, income certificate, and other address proofs?
  5. Has anyone successfully resolved a similar situation, particularly in Mumbai?

Any advice from lawyers or people familiar with passport verification procedures would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Can't ask help from passport office as they informed me that police verification is independent and police dept can give you the answer but all passport verification officer admarant about the previous year agreement

TCS ASE vs early-stage startup (2x pay) after a rough year, what would you do?

I am a 2025 grad and I need some advice.

My work history is a bit weird.

  • I did a fintech internship from June-Sept 2025 but didn't get a PPO.
  • I joined a small company from Dec 2025-March 2026, but I never got paid and never got an offer letter, so I don't really count that as valid experience.
  • Since then I have been job hunting and haven't had much luck.

Now I have TCS ASE joining on 25th June. ILP is in Indore and later my work location is my home city. In-hand would be around 20-22k/month.

I also have an offer from an early-stage startup starting about a month from now for almost 2x the pay plus ESOPs. The founders are from a well known Bangalore college. They were hiring for backend, frontend, embedded and founder's office roles across LinkedIn and other portals.

The company has a website, LinkedIn page and founder profiles listed on the website, so it doesn't look like some random scam. But I don't know much about their funding, runway, customers, revenue or how stable they are long term.

My concern isn't really the salary difference.

What worries me is that TCS gives me stability. Even if growth is slower, I can probably get 1 year+ of experience and switch later.

With the startup, what if I get laid off, fired, salary gets delayed or the company struggles in 3-12 months? It already took me months to get these opportunities and I don't know how long it would take me to get another offer if things go wrong.

Another thing is I honestly don't know if I got this startup offer because of my skills or because I got lucky. The interview process wasn't extremely difficult compared to some other companies I interviewed with, so I am a bit skeptical and not fully confident in judging the opportunity.

What questions should I ask the founders before joining? What are some green flags and red flags I should look for to figure out if an early-stage startup is legit and likely to survive?

What would you do in my situation?

Can TCS postpone joining date due to ongoing passport police verification?

Hi everyone,

My joining date with TCS is 25 June 2026, and my ILP location has been assigned as Indore while I am currently staying in Mumbai.

I recently applied for a passport, and my police verification is currently in progress. It may take around 7–10 days or possibly longer to complete.

Since I will need to travel from Mumbai to Indore for joining, I wanted to check whether TCS can postpone the joining date if passport police verification is still pending.

I have already sent an email to the onboarding team but haven't received a response yet. I also tried calling 1800 209 3111 multiple times, but the call kept ringing for around 20 minutes and then got disconnected.

Sent on:

xp.onboarding@tcs.com, xplore.support@tcs.com

Has anyone faced a similar situation recently?

  • Can TCS extend the joining date in such cases?
  • Will ongoing passport police verification affect joining?
  • Has anyone joined first and completed passport-related formalities later?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

TCS Ninja ILP Duration in Indore? Need some guidance

Hi everyone,

I recently got my joining details from TCS for the Ninja role.

My joining location/ILP location is Indore and my work location is Mumbai (where I stay currently).

Had a few questions for people who joined recently:

  1. How long is the ILP training for Ninja role these days?
  2. Do we have to stay in Indore for the complete training period or can we move to our work location earlier?
  3. I have honestly never stayed away from home for months before, so any tips for living alone, accommodation and managing expenses would be really helpful.
  4. How was your overall ILP experience? Anything you wish you knew before joining?
  5. Alse for people who started their career at TCS, was switching later on easier or difficult? What things helped you the most?

Just a little nervous since this will be my first full time job and first time living away from home for such a long period 😅

Would love to hear from recent joiners, Thanks.

Hello Guys, I’m a fresher backend dev and I have been preparing for system design interviews but honestly I am kinda lost.

If any senior interviewer can give me tips, please tell me how to prepare in the right way so it doesn’t hurt me in interviews and how to improve my technical articulation. I forget terms in real life also, and I seriously suck at explaining technical things properly.

I have all the roadmaps and topics because of AI and stuff, but still I don’t know how to actually prepare. Should I mug up things or what? There are just too many concepts and I keep getting confused between related things.

For example, I get mixed up between TCP protocol and REST architecture style. Same with HTTP 1.1 vs HTTP 2 differences. I also keep forgetting stuff like SSE vs polling vs HTTP requests vs websocket.

Even in interviews I mess up. One time they asked me if gRPC can run on HTTP 1.1 and if REST can run on HTTP 2. I stupidly answered that gRPC can run on HTTP 1 and REST can’t run on HTTP 2. Later I realised I mixed everything up because I panic and get confused when concepts are related.

I am also covering basics like HTTP vs gRPC, 7 OSI layers, SSE vs websocket vs HTTP and all that, but I still feel like I am not learning it in the right way.

My problem is:

  • I don’t know how to remember so many differences and use cases.
  • When they ask in a slightly different way, I get confused.
  • I mess up technical articulation.
  • Sometimes I go too deep into unrelated stuff and interviewer has to stop me and bring me back.
  • When I try to explain, I panic and mix related concepts.

How do you guys actually prepare for this?

  • Should I mug up differences and use cases?
  • How do I remember them properly?
  • How do I answer when interviewer asks the same concept in different words?
  • How do I improve my articulation and speak in a structured way?

Any advice from seniors would help a lot. Feeling pretty stuck right now.
