Bonus question: is this an appropriate diode or should I have asked here first?

Thanks!

My day: build concrete form and pour 250lbs of concrete to fix my foundation. His day: sunbathe. It's been a long day for everyone. Time for cocktails on the porch!

01 Ranger XLT with the 2.5L. No AC since I bought the truck and I started digging into it today. No power to the compressor and I want to check the fuse. Isn't it supposed to be in the first row between that 15a and 20a? That spot with no wire contacts?

What do?

99% sure this is a G3SS, it's a 1970 model. Is that left side Bushmaster cover correct?

Zedder has a page for a 69-70 G3SS "90SS Bushmaster" but I've only seen photos of the G3TR with the Bushmaster side cover. There are so few photos of these particular bikes, it's hard to get a reference.

I do have an NOS right side cover now ($220 - ouch) but it's a much darker blue than the tank and does not have any badging. The bike is almost complete even if it's still a little rough around the edges, I'm pretty much down to a couple of screws and the emblems. I want them to be correct.

Thanks!

This nut job... Begging me to go lay on the deck.

I filled his water bowl with ice, and he can lay in the dirt under the deck when he wants to get out of the sun, but me - I'll be staying inside.

I've picked up random boxes of old vinyl over time and just found this buried in a box.

I did not expect to find a mint test pressing with a note on the back.

A neat little piece of history.

How do I cash this?

Issued to me when I was a baby in 1982, matured in 1992. My mother gave it to me only a couple of years ago and I haven't been sure what to do with it.

I took it to my credit union and the guy I spoke to said he hadn't seen something like it before.

I looked up County Federal Savings and they merged with another bank in 1998, which was acquired by another bank in 2017, which was acquired by another bank in 2022, and that banks closest branch is 250 miles away.

I feel like I'm looking at Monopoly money.

*Update after a bunch of useless phone calls with the bank before finally getting a guy who actually took some time to look into it: They can't do anything with it. He advised that I contact the Fed.

*Update 2: Called the phone number listed on the Treasury Direct website and was told "Not our bond, we can't assist you. Call the bank."

Looking for tips on protecting a finish on copper without altering it.

I had some really nice colors on this sheet of copper until I hit it with some gloss clear spray paint. I marred the finish while I was working on it and had to start over so I'm pretty bummed that after I had it looking good the paint dulled the colors. I'm really not looking forward to doing it all over again.

Is there anything else I can use that won't affect the heat coloring?

I considered leaving it bare but I know I'm only going to end up with a dull finish again as it continues to oxidize over time.

I picked up a VW 1Z with a bad turbo for $300 a couple of years ago. I want to eventually put it in my 2000 Ranger. I've got these less-blown turbos kicking around, which one should I use? 😁

Realistically, I'll use the one in the middle. That's a K04 from a 2001 Audi TT. A guy can dream though.

The little one came out of a Bobcat skid steer, I think the Garrett came out of a 6.0 Powerstroke. The pipe dream for those is to build a jet kart and use the little turbo as a PTO and actually drive something rather than only make thrust.

Two free CZ 477 parts motorcycles to whomever can pick them up or wants to pay for shipping. I'd rather see these get fixed, or help fix other bikes than take them to the scrap yard so I'm offering them here before I add them to my next scrap run.

I'm in the Burlington Vermont area. I don't have time to part these, you have to take everything, but for the low price of free that's still a deal. Not shown are the cylinders and heads - those are in the garage. Both of these bikes had water in the bottom ends when I brought them home but I was able to save the jugs.

If you're interested, the mods have asked that you DM me.

Thanks.

And thank you, mods.

Ranger magic

I drove 320 miles with an empty bed to pick up almost 1300lbs of laminate flooring from my parents, and used a tank of gas. I refueled with the needle just above empty.

I then drove home with that rear end squatting and used just over 3/4 of a tank.

It's a 2.5L miracle.

My old Ionic Breeze air purifier got me thinking today - why do powder coat spray booths use fiber filter elements instead of taking advantage of the ion charge powder coating is based on?

Why not charge some metal screens to attract the excess powder? The filters would be endlessly reusable - just knock the powder off.

Is there an explanation other than "Tinder wants your money" for having likes that don't show up in Explore? I've got a 44 and a 27 year old "nearby" and I haven't been shown either of them.
