Exact same pair/model of shoes feel different

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a pair of Saucony Hurricane 25 (standard width - D).

I went to a few different stores and tried on the exact same model—same colorway, same size, and even the same production date on the inner tag.

However, each pair felt noticeably different on my feet! One pair was super comfortable, while two others felt off / less comfortable.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is manufacturing variation between identical pairs normal, or could something else be going on? Thanks!

Puffing sound Saucony Hurricane 24

I’ve been wearing my Saucony Hurricane 24 for only 5 months. Suddenly, my right shoe started making a clear air whooshing / puffing sound with every step.

After one full day of walking with the noise, the sound stopped. However, I now feel that the heel of the right shoe is more compressed / sunken than it should be.

The next morning (after walking the whole day with the noise), I woke up with quite strong muscle pain in the upper part of my right glute.

Does this mean there’s a hole, and do I need to throw these shoes away and buy a new pair?

Saucony Hurricane 24 ruined? Air-escaping sound

My Saucony Hurricane 24s, which I've only been wearing for 5 months, suddenly started making an air-escaping noise every time I stepped on the right shoe. The noise stopped after a day, but I feel like the right heel is more collapsed/sunken than it should be. Also, after waking up this morning (following a full day of walking on them yesterday while they were making that noise), I had strong muscle pain in the upper part of my right glute. Does this mean there's a hole or puncture, and I have to throw them away and buy a new pair?

Which IKEA mattresses are firm but still slightly soft? Do they sag over time, and how long does it take?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations on IKEA mattresses that are firm but not extremely hard — something that provides good support while still having a bit of softness and comfort.

Which IKEA mattress models would you recommend for that balance between firm and medium-firm?

Also, based on your experience, do IKEA mattresses tend to sag or develop body impressions over time? If so, how long did it take before you noticed it, and which model was it?

Thanks!

Will this foam mattress sag or stay firm?

I’m in a bit of a mattress nightmare and could really use some expert opinions.

Over the last year and a half, I’ve bought several expensive mattresses from well-known brands. Every single one of them started sagging within just a few weeks. For context, I weigh around 83 kg (183 lbs), I strictly use the bed for sleeping, the base is flat and stable, and I don’t run hot or sweat at night.

In the showrooms, all these mattresses felt exactly like what I wanted—firm with just a bit of initial softness (not rock-hard). But like I said, they just didn’t hold up.

Yesterday, I visited a local manufacturer who builds custom mattresses by layering different foam types. I spent an hour and a half there testing various combinations, and we finally landed on a setup that gave me exactly that "firm but slightly soft" feel I've been looking for.

Here is the exact breakdown of the layers we tried:

Base layer: 22 cm of SK foam (Density: 40 kg/m³)

Comfort layer: 4 or 6 cm (can't fully recall) of Neropur foam (Density: 65 kg/m³)

Top layer: 2 cm of Visco/Memory foam (Density: 55 kg/m³)

Total height is around 28-30 cm.

Here is my dilemma: I am incredibly anxious that the same thing will happen again. It matched what I was looking for in the shop, but will it sag in a few weeks? When I lifted the three layers together, they didn't feel exceptionally heavy to me, which triggered my anxiety about the quality and durability.

Should I give this a chance or do you think this will fail like the others?

Thanks a lot

Will this custom made mattress sag?

Hey everyone,

I need a reality check on a custom mattress build I'm looking into.

For the past 18 months, I’ve been stuck in a cycle of buying pricey mattresses from major brands, only for them to start sagging after just a few weeks (bought 5 until now). I weigh about 83 kg (183 lbs), I don't sweat at night, and I strictly use the bed for sleeping. Every mattress felt great in the store (firm with a touch of initial softness), but they simply didn't last for more than a few weeks.

To try something new, I visited a local factory yesterday that custom-makes mattresses by layering different foams. After an hour and a half of testing, we found a setup that perfectly matched that "firm yet slightly soft" feel I want.

Here is the exact layout we configured:

Base: 22 cm of SK foam (40 kg/m³ density)

Middle/Comfort layer: 4 or 6 cm of Neropur foam (65 kg/m³ density)

Top layer: 2 cm of Visco/Memory foam (55 kg/m³ density)

Total thickness comes out to around 28-30 cm.

My main worry is that history will repeat itself. While it felt right in the workshop, I’m afraid it will break down in less than a month like the others. One thing that made me nervous was that when I lifted the three layers together, the package didn't feel as heavy as I expected.

Should I give this a chance? I'm afraid of losing more money...
