TIL 15% of all black soldiers that were killed during WWII, were killed in Concord during the Port Chicago Disaster
The Port Chicago Disaster was a explosion on July 17, 1944, at the naval ammunition loading base in (what is now )Concord . The blast killed 320 people, most of them young Black enlisted sailors who had been assigned the work of loading ammunition under segregated conditions with little to no training. The tragedy further exposed racial discrimination in the military and led to the famous Port Chicago Mutiny, a significant event in the struggle for civil rights within the U.S. Armed Forces. It remains an important part of Concord's history because it occurred in our city and helped influence the eventual de-segregation of the military. The unequal treatment continued after the disaster. I have read a lot about this disaster but this was one of the most disturbing parts (to me). When Congress considered compensation for the victims' families, an effort was made to reduce payments after it became known that most of those killed were Black, resulting in families receiving less than originally proposed. (Google John E. Rankin, he was a racist, anti-semetic POS) ... https://portchicagoalliance.org/history.html

Kinda bummed this place is gone. They used to be the spot to go on a summer night .
I don’t dial 9-1-1, I have Bostons on patrol
Nobody’s ever gonna mess with me!
My husband (I’m a man, he’s a man) doesn’t want to kiss me or look at me in the eyes anymore during sex. I think he might be talking to someone else. We have a severely autistic toddler . Every day is stressful and the little time we spend together feels like a chore to him.
For dinner : Armenian rice pilaf jambalaya. It’s Armenian rice pilaf but I sautee white onions and bell peppers with hot link and Cajun seasoning and mix into the rice . So good.
Savagely attacked by pack of vicious Bostons
Don’t worry, I survived !
Furry neighbor hanging out at the pool
I’ve lived in concord for 9 years and have never seen this kind of bee. Its wing was injured unfortunately but was very beautiful and fuzzy little fella .
Have scientists studied how they are so cozy/cuddly?
It defies logic. My husband says that if everyone had a Boston terrier it would make the world a better place.(I disagree and believe only good, special people are worthy of a Boston’s presence/love)
