I've been collecting and painting Ultras for almost 7 years. I decided to take the crazy leap of painting one of their successors 😬.

I learned about them in Belasarious Cawl's great works and then had a mini freakout at how badass they looked in the Astartes 2 trailer.

I went through my pile of shame, made a 2k army, and broke my orange and black out for an awesome Scythes of the Emperor army.

I primed with matte black (I didn't realize how much better it is to paint on a matte finish!).

Did a 50/50 mix of Proacryls pink and magenta.

Since my airbrush is buggered I attempted to do volumetric highlights by dry brushing Tamiya white.

Then a layer of Imp Fist contrast, followed by edging it with a 50/50 mix of Vallejo's Ice Yellow and Demonic Yellow.

The chest was then given a coat of Proacryl's rich gold, followed by trusty old Riekland Flesh.

I'm going for battlefield-ready, not parade-ready, so just imagine him 3-4 ft away lol.

As an Englishman who emigrated to California I try and take advantage of having sunny weather for once in my life.

One of these ways is trying to go bare foot as often as possible like going around the house, taking the dog for a walk, playing football with my girl etc

One area that was causing me pain though was cycling through the functions of my GV-100. The pokey pedal bits were surprisingly tough to click with, what my wife calls “Smelly bigfoot feet”…

I am a slow man and I only now, 2 months after landing the ginormous mutlifx machine I discovered the pokey pedal covers! My feet are saved, my wife is overjoyed…….not! Lol

Bonus is they come in the original and best Red, White and Blue 🇬🇧💂

Thanks to everyone who suggested pink the imp fists contrast! Edged in yellow and dry-brushed in Hexos Palesun

FYI I'm going for the more orange shade from the Astartes 2 trailer. I understand it could be ambient lighting make the yellow look orange, I just prefer this color scheme 🙂

Having a couple of Fellblades, 4 Lands Raiders (inc a Terminus Ultra) and a trio of Repulsor Executioners you could argue that I'm a fan of armor 🫣

This super heavy looks amazing! I couldn't proxy it in any marine army and it wouldn't have legends rules but….it just looks…..AMAZING!

I'm just starting out my army and I'm looking for help on my orange

The left is primed matte black painted proacryl blues the proacyl orange with a transparent orange wash

The middle is primed with that valarak yellow and the washbis under the model

Same with the right

Which one do you think is best suited?

My multi fx didn’t have some of the effects that I wanted so am building a pedal board to fill my metal core needs 😜

After three returns due to faulty or damaged guitars, I finally got my Demon!

I initially aimed for a $250 used Damien. After all the issues, they offered me a brand new sunburst red Demon.

I thought they were covering the difference, which I was happy with. I checked the paperwork and my bank account upon its delivery.

To my absolute shock, I had the Damien price refunded and was not charged for the Demon! It seems that all the stress was worth it! 🤘
