Valley West Mall - Des Moines, Iowa
There were maybe 10 people in the entire mall during the time I was there. Definitely a surreal feel.

I headed out to Chicago for a few days and used the OM-3... A LOT. A wake-up moment for me was when it started raining... and when I say "raining" I mean a hose was turned on. EVERYTHING was 100% drenched - including all the money in my wallet. It was a torrential downpour... but OM SYSTEM's sealing on the OM-3 was perfect.
I had the time of my life during this storm, getting photos I've never gotten before... and it was all because the camera disappeared. I was "one" with it, and used the creative dial and CP button a ton because the OM-3 gives us easy and seamless access to them. No looking at menus - just immersion.
I had one of the best times I've ever had doing photography. It was truly awesome.
Hope you enjoy.
A lot more here in my YouTube video: https://youtu.be/W34h0vwKb_Q
Chicago with the OM SYSTEM OM-3 was an absolute blast. It's the one camera I have with me at all times, and in a city like this, that's key. I have a video coming out tomorrow all about it, but for now, these are a few that didn't even make it into the video. I got a LOT of great stuff on my trip, and these were only from the first few hours.

Found this from the window of a building while walking by. Like a scene from an old 80's dark sci-fi.
My family took a trip out to Des Moines yesterday and decided to check out this mall for a few minutes. My son loves experiencing the time capsule vibe of yesteryear, and we both love the slightly ominous, weird vibes. All photos - mine with the iPhone.
Hey, hardcore fans. I'm an old dude, but I love this stuff. I took my son to D.R.I. in Omaha, Nebraska last week, and wanted to share a few photos. The turnout sucked with maybe 50 people there, but D.R.I. played like it was sold out and overflowing. Kurt was an animal, and Spike was freaking insane. He talked with my son for a bit after show and signed his shirt (so did Kurt). It's a memory I'll never forget. Thought you might enjoy a few shots from my iPhone.
This is a former stray cat we brought inside. I think he likes it here!!
I found this while photographing small towns in southeastern Nebraska. There is not much bout this, but I think this is the old St. Mary's parochial school. It opened in 1912 with about 70 students and four Dominican Sisters who traveled up from Saint Catherine, Kentucky to staff it. It ran for 50 years before consolidating with a school in Falls City in 1963.
Dawson itself has about 148 people.
Dominican Sisters actually came up from Kentucky to teach kids in a village of a few hundred people on the Nebraska prairie, and they built this substantial brick school!!
From an article: "After 10 years of planning and discussions, a parochial school was built in Dawson and opened in 1912 with about 70 students, staffed by four Dominican Sisters from Saint Catherine, Ky. In 1963 the school was consolidated with Sacred Heart School in Falls City. St. Mary Parish continues a strong connection to Sacred Heart School. Priests serving the parish also serves the K-12 parochial school, often teaching religion classes or serving as a school counselor." My newsletter with more of this stuff: www.megapixelroad.com
This town disincorporated in 2022 - now it's home to no one. If you look up my username, I have a YouTube video all about it with a ton more images and video of the place.
