jackass tattoo ideas? (read the post!)

EVERYONE has the skull and crutches. And while I’m not opposed to it whatsoever and while I’d love to have it, I’d like some other ideas first.

This has probably been asked a thousand times but if you guys have any new ideas, given the release of the new movie, I’d love to hear them.

Also if you have any tattoos please show them off here!

I’ve been trying to think of Tom Green tattoo ideas but that’d be a lot more difficult as I feel like there’s less iconic imagery associated with him.

Ziggy Stardust headcanon

My Ziggy Stardust headcanon:

Space Oddity is a solo album by Ziggy Stardust before he formed The Spiders from Mars.

I don’t think The Man Who Sold the World fits but you could count it as one of his albums, to me it’s not though.

Hunky Dory is the debut album by Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars. It’s humble, gentle but you start to see the seeds planted for the edgier, more egotistical alien rocker (Queen Bitch).

Their second album is Aladdin Sane. It’s where his ego starts to leak into their music and sound, and he becomes more confident and forward.

Their third and final release is an EP consisting of the songs from the Ziggy Stardust album that are (in my mind) canonically by Ziggy (as opposed to being about him) - Soul Love, Moonage Daydream, It Ain’t Easy, Suffragette City, and Rock N Roll Suicide. Perhaps the EP is titled Moonage Daydream, or it could be a full album if you include some songs like John I’m Only Dancing, Velvet Goldmine, and whichever few others you think fits. I imagine the album cover being a picture of Ziggy Stardust himself. I would totally make one if I was good at making album covers.

After Ziggy dies, that mediocre Spiders from Mars album from 1975 is canonically the bands one and only attempt to continue without him, and it flops.

The rest of the Ziggy Stardust album tells the story that these albums are based around.

Fans bringing up his friends who defend him

It’s so funny when fans bring up the people who said Michael never abused them. First of all, it’s not relevant. If a hundred women came out and said Bill Cosby DIDN’T rape them, no one would ever think of that as a proper defense for him. So I don’t know why the standard is different for MJ.

At least two of his “friends” I’m aware of have always maintained they were never abused, but still made some horrific claims.

Corey Feldman claims that Michael showed him pornography when he was \~14. He no longer actively defends Michael just on account of wanting to support survivors, but he maintains Michael never sexually abused him.

Aaron Carter, up until his death, also maintained that Michael never sexually abused him, but still claims he gave him alcohol and cocaine when he was 15.

I feel like that should be enough for anyone looking at this in good faith to say he’s guilty.

2000s alt rock/pop rock songs like Hollywouldn't by Drake Bell

I like this song but I know there are a thousand other songs that sound a lot like it and probably do it better. The problem is, I can't seem to think of any of the songs. Help!

Songs that are like modernized post-punk e.g. I Don't Love You by MCR

I Don't Love You by My Chemical Romance is like an alt rock band trying post-punk and is a very successful attempt. I'd like to hear other songs that try this.

That ONE good album by bad bands/artists (NO DEBUTS)

Looking for shockingly good albums by otherwise bad or lackluster artists. E.g. Coming Home by Falling in Reverse is a 4.5/5 (IMHO!!!) whereas their next best album is maybe a 3.25/5 if I'm being super generous and looking at it through nostalgic lens.

No debut albums, because whenever I ask this question, MOST of the answers are the same and they're mostly debuts (Yes guys I love Songs About Jane too, I've already heard it!!)

Anyone ever listen to No Devotion?

Sorry to make a post only vaguely related to The Cure but I ask because they're a grossly underrated band and they wear their influences on their sleeve - they are a perfect bridge for the sound of Joy Divison and The Cure.

For anyone who doesn't know, No Devotion is the band that the former members of Lostprophets went on to start after all the stuff happened, with Geoff Rickly from Thursday singing.

I think Cure fans would absolutely dig them. Excellent band.

“Shakespearian” bands like The Smiths

The Smiths have a quality about them that feels Shakespearian. Vivid, tongue-in-cheek, theatrical, like a rock and roll interpretation of things Shakespeare may or may not have written.

I think the selling point to all of it is the extremely distinct, deep, convincing nature of Morrissey’s voice. It’s in the performances just as much as it is in the songwriting.

If there are any bands that also capture this (if not Shakespeare, perhaps another legend of literature) then hook me up.

Is it worth it to live on campus (for the surrounding area)?

I live in nowhere upstate New York. Incredibly boring little town.

I’m gonna be doing SNHU, was planning on doing it online but I wanted to know if the surrounding area (surrounding 20-30 miles or so) would be worth living on campus in order to see something new - literally anything fun to do, interesting places to be, towns/cities with an ounce of personality, or if it's mostly more nothing.

Not really expecting anything crazy, just wondering how you enjoy living in that area when you’re doing stuff not on campus and what it’s like.

The Smiths turned me vegetarian

I love meat. I never thought anything of it. In fact I kinda dismissed the horrible slaughterhouse footage I’ve seen in movies like Faces of Death as “I gotta eat”. Was never really bothered by it because while it sucks, it keeps me fed and it tastes good.

Got back into The Smiths after not thinking much of them beyond how much I love The Queen Is Dead (perfect album). Decided to listen to their other albums.

That first album is wonderful. Strangeways is wonderful. Meat is Murder is wonderful. However, Idk what it was, but that title track got to me. The way he phrases it makes meat consumption sound simply deranged.

I haven’t eaten meat in 2 days and I plan to continue this streak for as long as I practically can, which is hopefully for a long time.

Thanks Morrissey. I FRICKEN LOVE THE SMITHS!!!!

two songs by one artist that sound like a duology

two songs by one artist where the latter song sounds like it's meant to be a spiritual sequel to the first song. not necessarily sonically but at least thematically or like it could continue a story.

For instance, This Charming Man and I Want the One I Can't Have by The Smiths feel like a duology.

Intended sequels do not count - so no Two Headed Boy and Two Headed Boy Pt 2.

Exercises to write fluff?

I'm way too literal with how I write in the sense that I feel the need to write like I'm making a point or I'm telling a story. This gets tiring because I don't have many ideas so I end up recycling a lot of the same themes, words and imagery.

I just want to write something that sounds cool and could compliment whatever music I create for it. A lot of 2000s alternative rock bands were carried by this. Think: Helena by My Chemical Romance. Without the music, would you even have an inkling of what the song is about aside from the bridge? Probably not. But it sounds freaking cool.

Any writing exercises to accomplish this?
