Alibi Room for World Cup

I'm not associated in any way with the Alibi Room.

They have a big screen with games on, open windows with cool breezes, and were basically empty for Brasil/Norway. Consider it if you're looking for a place to watch Mexico/England!

Mexican patch trade for Vancouver?

I've got two Vancouver and one Houston. Don't care about the Houston one. Really would love a Mexico City or Monterrey.

Anyone willing to trade?

Soup without carrot for mire poix?

Can anyone recommend something that I likely have around my home to replace carrot in mire poix? Was about to make a simple broccoli soup but realized I don't have a carrot.

Update: Thanks everyone! I'm going to try an apple or a pear. Probably an apple. I like the sweet potato idea too but alas, I don't have one.

Abandoned - Solid wood coffee table for woodworking project

This coffee table is sitting in P1 at the downtown Costco. Looks abandoned.

It has one drawer with pulls intact. From what I could tell, it's solid wood. Style makes me think mid-mod.

If I had a yard, I'd snap this up! It has beautiful lines. With a heavy sanding, I think it would be such a gem!

Seeking recommendation for interfacing

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm turning this dress into a full length skirt. I'd like to put some interfacing at the waist. The dress is fully lined and currently has some interfacing at various spots between the lining and the main fabric (eg at back near waist zipper) and it appears to be some kind of flexible felt? I believe the main fabric is a silk taffeta.

What would you recommend I use for interfacing? Someone suggested a bonded one but I'm very reluctant to glue anything on the fabric. I'm new to this kind of project.

Thanks for your help!

Kit pickup - Vancouver

For anyone who has picked up their uniform in Vancouver, how long did the whole process take? Was the half-hour time slot accurate? I'm scheduling my pickup now and am figuring out how long to take off from work. Thanks!

Also - any rain poncho?

Curly hair - washing advice

My curly hair pattern is not at all resilient to a helmet and is also best on its second or sometimes third day after washing.

But I'm so sweaty after cycling, I'm pretty sure I need to wash my hair. And then I have to style/dry it, which takes an amount of time I resent. This is an actual disincentive for me to cycle as often as I otherwise want to.

I feel like when high cycling season hits, my hair is either terrible because I've washed it and it's flat and frizzy because I don't want to spend the time it takes to dry and style it properly, or it's terrible because I do spend the time and it's freshly done (and not at its best like on second or third day - and then it never hits its great moment or only very briefly because then I go for another ride).

Any advice here from other fragile curlies?

Hi all - long time sufferer but first time poster here so forgive me if this is covered ad nauseum. I did a bit of searching but didn't find what I was looking for.

I know my triggers in general but am curious if others notice seasonal peaks in their outbreaks?

I live in a temperate climate and it has been sunny and warm this past week. As a result, I've been out getting more exercise as spring progresses. I feel that old familiar tingle/burn on my skin near my mouth but as frequently happens for me, I'm not quite sure if it's a cold sore coming or maybe some other skin ailment like eczema or blemish, etc. I am suspicious enough that I took a dose or oral antivirals and put some topical ointment on as well.

But it got me thinking if others have noticed an uptick in outbreaks in the "spring time"?

With the sun, more stress on my body from more cardio, etc. I'm wondering if this could be a season for me to watch more closely.
