House was up for sale last year and they were having an Estate sale for the contents, but I wandered around the grounds instead. Beautiful multi-acre home site on Camp Creek.
Where are the eggs? We visited four islands last week during an island hopper sort of small ship cruise and of course we saw the ubiquitous chickens all over the place even little chicks and half grown youngsters so clearly they breed quite easily and often. Apparently local residents do harvest them, I certainly would if I lived there, plenty of free range free meat.
What about eggs? Where would one find the eggs? Seems there should be eggs under every bush and in every clump of grass. Do people gather these eggs?
Could you just build a coop in the backyard and some of the wild chickens would take up temporary residence and make egg gathering much easier? Seems like free range eggs would be better tasting and cheaper than grocery store eggs.

The flowers have peaked and are now fading but the plants are doing well.
No idea what variety they are but these are growing in mostly shade with scattered but bright light under tall pines. East metro Atlanta GA.
Cherry tomatoes (store bought plants) and Blueberries (already growing on the property). Yummish!
I'm just stoked it's growing in the backyard forest. Everywhere.

If you are growing natives in your house then do you get big kudos? Should we take issue with all the non-native house plants that stay in the house? What about a greenhouse, is that neutral territory if you never plant the invaders out in your actual yard? Is the greenhouse really a safe house?
Should we go raise Hell over on r/Orchids because all those pretty plants they obsess about are 95% aliens, whether they are in the house or in the green house. Some sort of sexual fixation thing, I think. Attaching them to trees in your yard? Fetishists.
You should never prune native plants, or damage them in any way, you should let them grow unbounded and free. The only real way to keep your native grasses trimmed is with a herd of bison. Or a Stegosaurus. Never use a lawn mower made of purified metal ore and fueled by dead dinosaurs... oh... wait. There's that pesky 'circle of life' again.
Persicaria virginiana: Native to eastern US, but is this cultivated variant 'Painter's Pallete' also native? I would assume so, by extension. Anyways, I have several clumps of this growing hither and yon. Attractive coloration. Apparently related to Japanese Knotweed, but knot as badly behaved.
Some sort of bug catcher? Price monitor? Wallet x-ray-er? Credit card balance snooper?

Now is the time to start preparing for tax season 2027, for tax year 2026. 'Oh no, I just got my refund', or 'Oh no, I owe for 2025'. Yeah, me too and so do I. Make it simple, make it less threatening, make it organized.
So easy to get a couple of manila folders. Mark one "Fed Taxes 2026" and mark another one "State Taxes 2026". You might need a County or City folder as well. Now think of a place that you can put them where you will remember where they are AND where you will have easy and frequent access to. Like, maybe a file cabinet where you keep all your other organized personal records? Medical, financial, taxes, etc? No, really, I'm serious here. Aren't you?
A pity. You will suffer from your self neglect. But there is a solution...
Every time you get a document in the mail or generate a financial trade or asset sale or anything at all that can possibly impact your taxes next spring of 2027 for tax year 2026 (this year, yeah, the current tax year) PUT THE DOCUMENTS IN THE FREAKING FOLDER(S)!
Organization is the key. Use the proverbial shoe box full of receipts, it really doesn't matter the container, JUST ORGANIZE YOUR SHI... YOUR STUFF.
I'm trying to be flip and direct, but yeah it seems easy to ignore until your CPA or your tax preparer asks for all of this stuff 11 months from now and you go HUH? STUFF? Where's my &$^$%%#%$^*$&*# W-2 at?
It's right there in your folder, you smart genius of an organized person. Way to go! EZ PZ!

Cherry and Dogwood to the left, tall pines in center rear, a massive pale green Japanese maple to the right, Sumac front right, tall twinned Oaks to the far upper right, center of bottom there are two trails that lead further back into the open plan pine woods where numerous Camellia, Azalea and other Asian flowering shrubs and forbs thrive. Native GA plants as well, Trillium, Fothergilla, Solomon's Seal, a very eclectic 1 acre botanical mix tape as orchestrated by the previous owners.
