Is piracy common in Japan? Where can one find it?

I am NOT looking to pirate anime, that is very easy to find. What I want to know is if piracy is a thing in Japan?? Because a friend of mine wants to watch An Extremely Goofy Movie in Japanese (for practicing purposes I guess?) but I was not able to find it, the only way seems to either buy a japanese dvd/bd or watch it on Disney Plus (which id suppose we all hate here) so is there anywhere one can find any type of japanese media for share and not only anime?

I hope someone can give me an answer! Even a "no, that is not a thing in japan" will suffice me, I just need to know

My Dualsense keeps disconnecting - how can I check if it's a software or hardware issue?

I only ever use this controller on Steam with bluetooth. Sometimes it randomly disconnects while I'm playing and I don't know if that's a problem with Steam, the OS or the controller itself, which wouldn't surprise me since it's a couple years old already and I feel it doesn't retain the battery as well as it used to (though the times it has disconnected the battery level says it's still mostly charged)

Is there any way to check this without having to like test the controller on another device until it happens? I do have another laptop with EOS as well but the issue is so random that it might happen a couple times in one day but then not happen for days, so I don't think that's a good way to troubleshoot lol

Is there a way to save AlsaMixer settings?

https://preview.redd.it/6lyej00w3tih1.png?width=1293&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e69598945f2645d804377b458bc48fc83a2ac07

I bought a Corsair HS80 Wireless which have sidetone (mic monitoring) on by default. Since iCUE is not available on Linux, you can't disable it. Apparently, the sidetone is handled by an audio channel visible on AlsaMixer, where you can mute it and sidetone disappears. If you exit the program, the changes will remain until the next boot, so is there a way to make this a default setting on boot?

Is it bad that I use DuckDuckGo?

I must say in advance that I've spent more time than I'd like reading about search engines and it seems like the only ones that don't rely on Google/Microsoft/Yahoo results are foreign engines from China, which don't give me the results I'm looking for since I look for more local stuff (I live in México). I used Startpage for a good time but I got tired of the image results being filled with AI crap, and now I jumped to DuckDuckGo. According to what I've read, it seems that Google/Microsoft profit from other search engines thanks to ad results and stuff like that... So what should one do then? Do we just stop using search engines alltogether and only stick to the websites we know like they did in the past?

It is worth noting that I use an adblock for everything, so maybe that can stop revenue for Microsoft somehow?? I don't know, I think I just want to be fully free of Microsoft, which is why I changed to Linux and switched my phone keyboard from Swiftkey to Futo (which I kind of despise if I'm being honest but I despise Microsoft more)

Sure I understand no one can do a perfect boycott, but I do hope someone can give me more insight and advice so that I can know exactly what I'm doing

Improve performance on DS2 on PC?

I know I may be asking a lot if I want my 4060 ti to run a modern game at 1440p 60fps, but does anyone know of some good settings to make it run and look the best? The rest of my specs are a r5 5600, 16gb of RAM and running the game on an nvme. Im running the game on linux which should make it run better than on Windows if anything, but I wouldnt be surprised if that was a factor too since this game hasnt been out for that long

I also read a couple months old posts saying DS2 has poor performance even on very powerful machines, is this still a thing or has it been fixed already?

And lastly, this would be the nuclear option but what graphics card do you recommend for this game or just 1440p@60 overall?

What did people do while grinding in Mother 1?

I love this game so much and it's so much easier when you just accept the fact that you need to do a lot of grinding, and when I find myself doing it, sometimes I may also be looking at my phone or something to make it less of a chore, but that made me think: were the people playing this game in the 80s-90s also doing something else while grinding, like reading a book or watching TV? Was it even common to have two TVs to watch something while grinding?

This isnt even something exclusive to Mother, there were a lot of other RPGs back then both in Japan and the rest of the world, so even a lot of people here couldve had this same experience back then! What was it like? I had never questioned this about RPGs before and now I'm really curious to know what grinding was like before Subway Surfers, TikTok and emulators with FFW...

Was teleport made easier in Earthbound Beginnings?

I just beat Earthbound Beginnings a couple weeks ago and there the distance from one edge of magicant to the other horizontally (around the hospital and store areas) was enough to teleport. However, I am now replaying the Mother 1+2 version and here I need a longer distance in order to teleport. Was the distance needed in EBB shortened or did they actually increase it in Mother 1+2?

The first time I played Mother 1 was in fact the Mother 1+2 version, but that was more than a decade ago so I don't remember (I think I didnt even get teleport that time, I sucked at video games at 12 hehe)

Mother 3 inject looks cropped and off centered

The screen is liked cropped/off centered and i can see the top on the bottom. I downloaded the inject from a QR on reddit. Already tried a different inject from another person and the japanese version as well, and they both look the same. This does not happen on the mother 1+2 inject, which is also a gba game. Havent tried other gba games. What can be causing this? I dont see anyone bringing this up

What shall I do about Gyigas?

Right now I'm at the point of beating Gyigas. I tried thrice and couldnt manage it for different reasons. I grinded a bit and I'm now with Ness 81, Paula 70, Jeff 69 and Poo 67... But I'm kind of thinking of loading the save file I made before going to Gyigas because I think I may have not prepared correctly? I only bought a handful of horn of life and luxury jerkey, didnt bring anything to recover PP except for some items I already had (and like two of them have been already stolen by octopuses), but I'm not really sure if I should go back there since the levels are a bit lower at 74, 65, 64 and 60... The good side is that I can always grind again with more and better items I guess

What would you do?

Is there a streamlined way to know EVERYTHING about the trilogy?

Sort of like a list with all of the articles, interviews, ads... pretty much everything Mother-related that gives new insight on the series, its creation, details, history, etc

Does Lloyd level up when Teddy is in the party?

It's been ages since I played this game and I dont remember this lol so if Teddy has the same level and xp as Lloyd when he's in the party, Lloyd should have the same when he's back, right?

Is Earthbound Beginnings easier than Mother (JP)?

Today I wanted to live the "true" experience and play the original Japanese Mother that's on the Switch Online, but after I noticed the sprites are also changed there, I decided to just play EBB since at least you can run there. A couple minutes in, I noticed it was kind of easier than I remembered?? I've only played Mother 1+2 before so maybe that's another factor to take into consideration, and I didn't play Mother for the Famicom enough to be able to tell. So was there anything changed gameplay-wise on Earthbound Beginnings? Like the stats, xp needed for level up, or something of that ilk, or is it just me imagining things?

DualSense randomly disconnects on Bluetooth

It's happened a couple times already. The first two or three times it didn't show a notification or anything, the controller just went unresponsive with the lights still on; lost the game I was playing lol anyways that was the first time and by the second and third time this happened some days after that, I already knew what had happened and quickly jumped to the keyboard to pause the game and reconnect the controller. Now some minutes ago the same thing happened again but this time Steam did show a notification that the controller was disconnected, while still having the lights on and even the Bluetooth icon showed it was still connected. I disconnected and connected it again but just some seconds after that it disconnected again. I checked that it had enough battery just to make sure and it still has like 30%, so I'm pretty sure that's not it.

On my laptop, Steam Input just straight up didn't work out of the box with the DualSense when I just installed EOS there, had to meddle with it a bit to get it running, but on my desktop PC I didn't had to do any of that to get it working, so maybe is this issue being caused by this??

My second guess is that my controller is simply dying but I don't really have any Windows or PS5 to try it out and see if the same thing happens there, neither can I afford a new DualSense to see if that's it, so at this moment I can only hope it's a software issue

Calendar app with monthly view widget?

It's the only thing I truly miss from Google (besides maps). I've been using Tuta mail but their calendar widget only shows a daily view. I want to know what I have due for future days, not today!!

I think I saw Proton had this same issue, so is there any other app for this? Preferably that can be downloaded from outside the play store

Does Google generate money when searching with adblock?

I've spent HOURS to find any single ethical search engine that doesn't either have AI or is affiliated to google/microsoft/etc and genuinely there doesn't seem to be one. They're all plagued by horrible bs: startpage, ecosia, duckduckgo, yandex, presearch (what were they thinking with the doppelganger feature?!) and the list goes on...

So at this point does it even matter which search engine I use? What if I just keep resorting to Google without an account and block all ads and AI with extensions? Would that stop counting as boycotting?

Do AMD GPUs work better on Linux?

I've had a couple of Radeon GPUs in the past with Windows and they sucked a lot, they always crashed midgame and at some points I even remember the drivers disappeared out of nowhere and I had to reinstaller, which made me go full nvidia since a couple years ago. Now that ive switched to linux im starting to wonder if those same issues are also common here because now I would like to stop supporting nvidia for a lot of bs theyve done in recent years

I've been messing with KeePass but found it a bit obnoxious

My main issue with Google Password Manager is knowing they have my information stored in their servers; I would assume UC stores your passwords locally (after all it's ungoogled), but is that actually how it works? Is it really safe?

I must admit that, frankly, I don't concern that much about hackers stealing my data, I just don't want big private companies having it and doing whatever they want with it

I just ran into a seemingly common issue with Gigabyte motherboards in which the PC wakes up immediately after putting it to sleep, and found the solution would be to "disable gpp0 as a wake up source" which I've done already, but it does leave me thinking: what exactly is gpp0?

I couldn't quite find an answer online so I figured to ask here since I really appreciate knowing exactly what I'm doing whenever I fiddle with my system, possibly just out of curiosity and a desire to acquire more knowledge:)
