AP7 and non-firewalla switch

I think I asked this but cannot find it ... due to flaky AP (oh, the irony ...)

If I have a FWP > Aruba 1930 > Aruba AP22 and replace the AP22 with a Firewalla AP7, I can see and manage the AP7, right?

I understand that I lose lots of the goodness of 'single pane of glass' - but I can see and fully manage the AP7 behind a non-firewalla managed switch, right?

NAS to patch panel or switch?

I have read a couple places that a NAS should connect to a patch panel which connects to the switch. My hierarchy is use (speed/latency, quality, etc) over troubleshooting ease.

Assuming a standard CAT6 patch, and most switches have 2.5g/10g/sfp options, it seems silly to 'waste' these connections with an extra step in the chain.

Thoughts?

roaming question

Will multi-AP roaming work OOTB or do most people need to tweak stuff?

I have a router (non-AIO) > 1930 > AP22 setup. It has been more reliable than most people who post here.

I need another AP and am considering a second AP22. The 1930 only handles managed switch stuff (VLANs) and the AP22 handles standard wifi plus VLANs. The 1930 is locally managed and the AP22 is mobile-app-managed - fairly basic config. I want to add another AP22, config/clone the current unit over to it, then forget about both of them. Will this work, or will I have to tweak both AP22s constantly?

question about 'meshing' APs (non-Firewalla APs)

Anyone successfully setup multiple non-Firewalla *wired* APs to provide mesh *roaming* coverage in a space while maintaining Firewalla VLANs?

Current setup is FWP > *wired* Aruba 1930 > *wired* Aruba AP22. I need to add another *wired* AP and am considering an AP22. I max out all 5 VLANs and VLANs are a primary requirement for any solution.

Anyone have a similar setup (Firewalla > none-Firewalla switch > none-Firewalla AP) and added multiple APs to create a mesh *roaming* network?

ETA: I inadvertently listed "mesh" instead of "roaming" - The setup is wired APs and I'm trying to avoid the horrors of inelegant AP handoffs that I recall 20+ years ago. Also, my setup is mostly local control, so I'm unclear if I need to enable all the unstable Aruba cloud crap.

Thoughts on this setup?

I used to be an audiophile (tuner, amp, phono, cd, multiple speakers each worth $X,000 all the way back to Bose 901 and JBL 4312B and monster cable) and now have a family. I drank the Sonos koolaid (which will be replaced wholesale after my next bonus) across multiple houses for audio and my spouse subscribed to all the streaming services for kids, so either phone-based audio or tv-connected streaming media use. Perhaps the best summary is that we no longer have an audio device which requires a remote.

I found these in storage (in mint condition):

JBL J225 Pro Performers

Bose VCS-10

Denon AVR-1312

Carver HR-752

I no longer have anything except the hardware above, no appetite to add 'infrastructure' and likely a user community who will not adopt anything higher effort than the current setup.

Thoughts on adding these?

ATT BGW320-500 IP Passthrough question

Anyone know what "Firewall Advanced" includes?

I have a FWP so I enabled IP Passthrough. Oddly, the "Firewall Status" tab does not reflect everything on the BGW320 as disabled:

Packet Filter Off
IP Passthrough On
NAT Default Server Off
Firewall Advanced On

Block non-browser internet?

I created a device-specific 'Block all internet to/from device' rule which starts at 9p each night. Google Docs remain available. Do Docs, Drive, etc not reflect internet on a Firewalla?

1930 SFP speed?

What are my options?

I think the specs (when I bought a JL683A) indicated 1g, 2.5g, or 10g - but now I only see 1g or 10g modules listed as compatible.

How to use 3rd party devices with Firewalla ecosystem?

I think I'm asking for network management best practice ...

I see the value of a fully Firewalla router > switch > AP environment.

I suspect that most Firewalla adopters require more than 10 or 12 wired ports on a LAN. And multiple Firewalla switches seems cost prohibitive - even if they were readily available.

ETA: My current topology is FWP > Aruba 1930 (24port) > Aruba AP22 which was installed before Firewalla offered an AP or switch. I recently remodeled one level of the space, and I already have 19 wired drops. When I remodel more, I expect 2x - 2.5x that many additional drops. A single 48port switch may not even be sufficient for the entire space. I can either buy more Aruba 24port switches, buy a couple TBD-brand 48port switches, or buy Firewalla switch/AP gear. I'm trying to understand how to build & maintain the Firewalla-single-ecosystem goodness while scaling for the required number of wired devices (i.e. not buying 8 Firewalla switches).

For example, how would I configure 37 wired devices in a LAN with a Firewalla router and AP7? Can I hang a couple approved 3rd party managed switches off a Firewalla switch which maintains Firewalla goodness? Do I simply forego some of the single-ecosystem benefit of all Firewalla gear? Other?

ETA2: my initial post was TOTALLY misunderstood by everyone, which means I failed to ask the question clearly. Thanks for all the replies and [facepalm]

Tresanti ODP720 - help 3D printing a 'shelf'

How do I 3D print something which spans the plane of a Tresanti ODP720 drawer and includes one or two strategic vertical supports?

Requirements: I need a 'shelf' which sits across the pull-out drawer of this desk but remains beneath the top of the drawer opening and is not too flexible.

I currently have a piece of plexiglass which sits across the top of the pull-out drawer; its purpose is to provide a flat surface for a keyboard. It is sufficiently thin to remain on top of the pull-out drawer when I 'close' the drawer (push the drawer in beneath the desk surface), however is too flexible to support a keyboard when 'open' (pulled out from beneath the desk surface). I mitigate this by strategically locating items in the drawer which are approximately the same depth as the drawer and provide physical/vertical supports for the plexiglass. A thicker piece of plexiglass is 1) too thick, 2) too heavy, and 3) still too flexible.

My 3D printing knowledge is limited to spelling 3D printing.

Thoughts?

ETA: I neglected to add some requirements. Thx for the proposed solutions thus far.

  1. I use this surface as a 'mouse pad' as well, so just supporting the keyboard feet is an incomplete ask
  2. if the surface does not have a vertical support on each side, it will 'wander' a.k.a. slide off the drawer. The current (half-measure) solution is a couple holes with 1cm bolts which stick down into the drawer space. Ideally, a solution can be 3D printed to include 1cm vertical pieces which extend 'down' at the required location, right?
  3. bonus point ask - is there a material I can use which will enable me to have 'mouse pad' functionality? Currently, I use painter's tape to 1) provide a mouse pad (otherwise clear plexiglass 2.5" above a surface 'confuses' the mouse), and 2) hold the 1cm bolt in place.

Instanton Version 3.3.5.0 on Android

Did Aruba break their mediocre software or did Samsung break Aruba's mediocre software?

Suddenly, I cannot modify Schedules (via home > Health > Policies > Schedules > select SSID) but it is intermittent. It also happens most with the entry at the bottom of the page.

Can someone help?
