i first noticed planaria in two of my tanks a few weeks ago. ive been using planaria traps i bought on amazon with either bloodworms or shrimp food inside to catch the worms but im worried its not doing enough. ive heard of using no planara before but theres so many options on amazon that i have no idea where to start. if anyone has any recommendations please let me know! or if it is possible to eliminate a planaria infestation with traps alone let me know as well!
does anyone have any more information on this species? it was labelled as an anthurium black at a local greenhouse but i cant find any information online about this variety.
is this leaf variegated? its the only one like it on the whole plant. also if i propagate the leaf would the babies grow variegated? or is there any way i can encourage variegated growth
why does my monstera aurea keep getting brown and crispy especially on the variegated parts? is it too much light? i have it in front of a south facing window and with a grow light. i live in michigan tho so theres not too much natural light. i dont think its from underwatering. could it be a humidity issue? the humidity in my house is around 55% in the summer
why is this stem on my coleus growing 3 leaves per node? also is the yellowing at the base of the stem bad or is that just its pattern?
does anyone have any recomendations for alocasias that are easier than most? i have killed every alocasia ive ever gotten. ive killed alocasia polly (multiple times), black velvet, bambino, and a few others i cant remember.
or does anyone have care tips that made alocasias easier for you? like substrate, lighting, or watering
my botany teacher gave me this huge jade plant today! is it okay to prune it already? also its kinda root bound so should i repot it? theres also some clovers growing in the soil so should i keep them or get rid of them?
does anyone have any tips on growing jade plants faster? ive had these for so long and they hardly grow at all. they sit in a west facing window (northern hemisphere) so its pretty bright in the afternoon. also is it okay to put them outside? i live in michigan (zone 6)
this shrimp was originally a green rili neocaridina (1 green rili parent and 1 blue velvet parent). over time it has started turning this yellowish color which ive never seen before. is this genetic or a sign of illness? it still seems to be acting healthy!
i got this guppy or endler hybrid from a lfs! i would love to know what strain he is since ive never seen one similar
does anyone have any experience with keeping tank mates with an axolotl? i really want to add something else to my 20 gallon axolotl tank. ive seen a lot of mixed opinions online about the safety of different tank mates. i dont think i want any fish since they tend to need schools and add a lot of bioload to the tank. i really want some snails or something but ive seen a lot of mixed opinions on all different species like ramshorns, bladder, mystery, and nerite. i feel like the safest option for tankmates are neocaridina shrimp.
btw if u have any tank mate suggestion let me know! my tank is kept at around 64-65 F.
i grew these two baby jades from single leaves and one of them is normal with 2 leaves per node and the other has 3 leaves per node. has anyone else seen this before? also please give me tips on how to keep it alive and get it to grow quickly! also if anyone knows any more info on what caused this please share! also can i expect it to continue growing with 3 leaves per node? and would it continue to grow with 3 leaves per node if i cut it when it got larger?
this is my new axolotl i got a few days ago! he was rehomed to me and came in not the best condition. he has a red spot on his side by his back leg and also a weird red thing sticking out of one of his gills. please let me know what those are and how i can help him! i also believe he is underweight but would appreciate confirmation. im also wondering if he is even a he?? i was told he is a boy but i have no idea how to tell so i would also love if anyone could tell me!
im open to any care advice also!
i just got this axolotl today as a rehoming! he is in a 20 gallon now and has a cooling fan so he is being kept around 66 degrees F. in his previous home he was being fed one red wiggler about every other day (possibly not this often because he mightve been forgotten about sometimes) so i think hes underweight. he also seems to have something wrong with one of his gills because there is something red sticking out of it.
i currently have red wigglers and frozen blood worms on hand to feed him and im wondering how often i should be feeding and what amount. please give me pellet food recommendations too!
he also really likes to rip up plants from the sand so im wondering if anyone has any plant weight recommendations that would be axolotl safe! also please give me more plant species that would do well in his tank with only sand substrate! i currently only have anubias, java fern, buce, moss, water wisteria, bacopa, amazon sword, and some bulbs that came in a pack from petsmart.
i also would love affordable light recommendations that i could find on amazon!!
also do not hesitate to share any care tips, info, or anything i need to change about my set up or care!
