Sammy and Gabby here are like the sky and sunshine sitting next to each other 😊 Something about this breed just asks for soft light colors. They're bright and fluffy and relentlessly cheerful, and IMHO anything darker would feel wrong!

I painted the Orion Nebula in oils, and it changes depending on what color light hits it. It's an attempt to paint multi-wavelength imaging

Oil on canvas with neon pigments layered in, each responding to a different part of the lighting spectrum.
Honestly, a flat static painting of a nebula felt boring. I wanted something with a hidden layer to it, but one that actually means something 😊

Orion Nebula, Oil Painting with Neon pigments by Katerinicart (OC)

An original oil painting of the Orion Nebula, based on a NASA astrophotograph and painted as an artistic interpretation. Neon pigments in orange, red, blue and violet make the painting change with the light. In daylight you see the full nebula. Under blue, violet or red light, different clouds come forward and the colours shift, so one painting gives you several different views.

Is it just me, or do Bulldogs never look thrilled about anything?

Aimed for a cozy spa-day portrait. Landed on what feels like a personal betrayal 🥹

Is it just me, or do Boston Terriers always look personally offended by something?

Spent way too long on those eyes, trying to nail Amy's slightly judgmental look 🙄😁

Does your Havanese also have a secret identity?

Apparently Goobie runs a mafia, or at least that's what his mom calls him: Lil Pimp Mofo 😁

I'm convinced Pomeranians know exactly how cute they are. Look at that sweet smile!

I loved painting this tiny face. I hope this little fluff brings you a smile too 😊

By a twist of fate, this original oil painting is actually available for someone who falls in love with it 🧡

Chavi seems to be the only one in the family important enough to have a portrait 😁

I actually painted this as a gift for my uncle after he moved abroad. The portrait is based on a photo taken in their favorite old apartment, so their new place would feel a little more like home 🧡

My attempt to paint unconditional love of this ginger boy

I wanted to capture that moment when your cat curls up against you and somehow makes you smile, even on the hardest days.

Instead of a traditional portrait, we chose a quiet evening cuddle: warm lamplight shining through his paws, a deep red blanket (to symbolise love), and his head pressed against his favorite human.

This piece was commissioned as a gift for a friend whose ginger boy has been a constant source of comfort in her darkest times.

If you had to choose: stylized interpretation or closer-to-reality likeness? I made a choice… and ended up painting Elly twice

We started with a pretty clear idea: a stylized, slightly medieval-inspired direction, with Elly’s signature bow and pearl beads.

The first version really went all in on that. Very stylized, softer edges, almost like a little illustrated storybook character.

And I still genuinely love it.

But after seeing the first version, the owner felt it didn’t quite capture Elly, so I reworked it to better align with how she sees her dog.

I didn’t have one perfect reference photo for this exact angle, so I had to piece it together from a few different images while keeping the style consistent.

Elly’s mum was really happy with how it turned out. I still have a soft spot for the first version, so it felt unfair not to show you both!

I’m curious, where do you stand on this: stylized pet portraits or more realistic ones?

Infinite Love: a Cosmic painting about loving my Ragdoll for a lifetime

This piece started with a thought I think most of us quietly carry around in the background: our cats spend their whole lives with us, but we only get part of ours with them.

So I created an asymmetrical diptych where my ragdoll is surrounded by soft cosmic light and looking into the Orion Nebula, one of the few deep-space objects technically visible from Earth, yet almost impossible to fully see with the naked eye. That felt weirdly similar to love and memory to me. Present and unreachable at the same time.

The stars are intentionally subtle because he is the center of the universe in this painting.

For now, I get to enjoy every moment while he’s here beside me. And one day, when he becomes part of the stardust, these paintings will still carry a piece of his universe...

This is Venchi and he apparently has strong opinions about art...

When he saw the finished portrait, he immediately started barking at it. Still not sure if that means approval or requested revisions 🤪

Maybe that's because I painted him without his clothes and accessories (his mom said that he "looks best naked"🤭)

Hand painted with love in oil on canvas, 24×30 cm (9.5x12 inches)
