My Flipkart laptop experience has been one hell of a side quest

So I needed a new laptop. I'm currently unemployed and preparing for competitive exams, so obviously I wasn't looking for some crazy high-end machine. I wanted the best gaming laptop I could realistically afford.

After looking around for quite a while, I finally found an HP Victus with an RTX 2050 that had really good specs for the price. I was using my dad's credit card for the purchase and also exchanging my old laptop, so after all that I finally thought I'd found a really good deal.

I ordered it on August 7th. Delivery was supposed to be on the 8th.

Then Flipkart WhatsApp messaged me saying I should be available to receive the order that day.

Well... I'm sitting at home practically 24/7 right now anyway. 😂 Where else am I supposed to go?

11 PM comes around and I get another message saying the delivery couldn't be attempted because of waterlogging.

Fair enough. It's monsoon season in Gurgaon. The roads can become a complete nightmare, so I wasn't even angry about that.

Then the 9th came and went.

On the 10th I got another message saying the delivery couldn't happen because of a logistical issue.

At this point I went onto Flipkart and checked the tracking. It said the package had reached the hub nearest to me.

Okay, fine. Maybe tomorrow.

Around 5 PM that day I decided to call Ekart, since they're the delivery partner listed on the order.

And this is where things got fucking weird.

Ekart told me they didn't have any package for my name and address in their inventory. There was apparently no record of my laptop being there for delivery.

So obviously I started panicking and called Flipkart.

The first customer support person transferred me to another person, who then transferred me to a so-called senior.

And this lady basically told me that they couldn't find my laptop.

It was untraceable.

Her solution?

Cancel the order and place a new one.

Except the laptop was now ₹24,000 more expensive than when I bought it.

Yeah. No fucking way.

So I started searching online and found a bunch of other people describing what sounded like the exact same kind of situation. Packages supposedly reaching a nearby hub, then suddenly becoming untraceable, followed by support telling people to cancel and reorder.

At that point I emailed the grievance officer and told them that if this wasn't resolved I'd take it to the National Consumer Helpline.

I also called them and explained the entire situation.

Then, later that same evening, I suddenly get a WhatsApp message from Flipkart asking:

"Do you want your order?"

And giving me two options:

Want Order
Get Order Cancelled

Like... WHAT? 😭

You just spent the entire day telling me you couldn't find my laptop and that I should cancel it, and now you're asking me if I still want it?

I obviously chose Want Order.

I eventually got an email from the grievance officer saying that the hub was undergoing some sort of reconfiguration, which apparently caused the issue, and they gave me the number of the hub in-charge.

That guy?

He Doesn't answer his calls apparently that dude is a very busy person.

The grievance officer has now assured me that my laptop will be delivered by tomorrow.

And honestly?

I've completely lost faith at this point. 😂

I don't know whether my laptop is sitting in some warehouse 5 km away, stuck behind a pile of other shipments, or has achieved enlightenment and left this mortal plane.

All I know is that I ordered a laptop on August 7th, it was supposed to arrive on August 8th, and five days later I'm having conversations with Flipkart, Ekart, grievance officers and random hub employees just trying to figure out where the hell my laptop actually is.

So yeah, I'm posting this here because I'm genuinely don't know what else to do.

If it actually arrives tomorrow, I'll update this.

If it doesn't...

Well, I guess I'll be back here again. 💀

Crying and complaining

UPDATE: DILEVERY POSTPONE TO 16TH GOING TO TRACK THE HUB DOWN

UPDATE 2: ### UPDATE: I FOUND THE EKART HUB MYSELF AND GOT MY LAPTOP

So, after waking up to yet another WhatsApp message asking “Do you want your delivery or should we cancel it?”, I obviously selected YES, I WANT MY FUCKING DELIVERY.

And then I got another message:

> “Due to logistical inconvenience, your delivery has been shifted to 16th August.”

I know. Incredible. 😂

At this point, following the advice of three different Redditors, I went looking for the nearest Ekart hub myself.

I found it.

And guess what?

It was literally a 23-minute walk from my house.

So obviously, I went.

I reached the hub and, after the usual “company policy” bullshit, they initially refused to let me speak to anyone in charge.

So I started calling the hub in-charge.

After a little detective work, I figured out which guy was actually in charge and demanded to speak to him.

Things got heated, we had a verbal fight, and they threatened to call the police if I didn't leave.

I basically told them, “Fine, call them. That'll only make my case with the NCH stronger.”

Was I actually confident about that?

Absolutely fucking not.

I was bullshitting with confidence. 😂

Anyway, this whole thing turned into roughly five hours of head-banging, arguing, waiting and refusing to leave without my package.

And finally...

THEY GAVE ME MY LAPTOP.

They took pics of my ID, package code and order ID, and made me sign a letter stating that I was taking responsibility for the package ( which I wrote on blank paper)

I brought the machine home, checked it thoroughly for any physical damage.

And one thing that still bothers me:

The warranty was already activated on August 8th.

My delivery was supposed to happen days later.

So yeah.

After all that bullshit, I finally have the damn laptop in my hands.

To everyone who told me to find the nearest Ekart hub myself:

You were fucking right.

If I had accepted the “16th August” delay, I'd probably still be waiting for a laptop that was literally 23 minutes away from my house.

What an absolutely insane delivery experience. 😂

[REQUEST][STEAM][INDIA] Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Original)

Hi everyone.

About me / previous requests

I’m a student from India and gaming has always been my main way to unwind and reset after long days. I tend to spend my free time across a mix of hobbies, including reading, writing, music, and TV series. If I had to pick a preference, I would honestly say TV shows over movies, since I get more attached to long-form storytelling and characters over time.

I don’t really have a single “favourite” series in the usual sense. It feels more like choosing between different parts of life I’ve enjoyed at different times.

Some of the stories I keep coming back to include Lord of the Rings and Fantastic Beasts. On the film side, Brother Bear is something I can rewatch anytime and still enjoy it the same way.

I’ve also been into tabletop roleplaying games for a while now, especially D&D over the past year or so, along with Cypher System which I’ve engaged with for a longer time. After COVID, a lot of local TTRPG groups around my timezone became harder to find, so most of that now happens online or through smaller circles.

Gaming itself has stayed my main creative escape. Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Total War: Shogun are among the ones I’ve enjoyed the most, especially for how immersive and absorbing they are.

Earlier this sale I requested a different game while I was still deciding what I could realistically get from my wishlist. That request did not go through.

Before that, I also had discussions around other games like Cult of the Lamb and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, but those were later covered by my family member through our shared Steam budget.

At one point I was requesting Dawn of War IV (Pre-Order), but I decided against it because asking for a full-priced pre-order from a stranger felt like too big an ask.

Why I am requesting help

I’m from India, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag currently costs around ₹1999 on Steam (approx $24 USD).

Even during sales, it usually does not drop enough for me to comfortably afford it within my remaining budget after family purchases.

In other stores like Green Man Gaming, it can sometimes be slightly cheaper, but after currency conversion and regional pricing differences, it still ends up in a similar range for me.

Right now, it is outside what I can realistically spend due to my situation.

Why this game

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is already one of my favourite games.

I have played it multiple times over the years.

What I enjoy most:

  • Naval exploration and ship combat
  • Sailing the Jackdaw across the Caribbean
  • Sea shanties and random ship encounters
  • Edward Kenway’s story and character progression

Even though I have already experienced the game, it is one I constantly return to.

Why am I requesting it specifically

This is not a request to try the game for the first time.

It is a request to finally own it on Steam.

I have replayed it enough times that I would like it to be permanently in my Steam library rather than spread across different installs or versions.

It is a game I know I will continue returning to.

Thank you for reading this.

Even if this request is not fulfilled, I appreciate the time taken to go through it.

hariwal

Edit: Just wanted to add a clarification. Just in the ( 7:23 pm IST) last hr or so, some kind people have given me Steam gift codes after the post, amounting to 900 INR. These were from users I only know through their Steam handles (Hellsangle, MAYHEM, Badshah, MADEYE, and Subha). I really appreciate the help and generosity. Thank you

[H] 1600 upi [w] steam wallet 2000

Looking to buy a ₹2,000 Steam Wallet gift card for ₹1,600 (UPI).

A bit of context: there are five of us in the family of students at different stages of life. We've pooled together ₹1,600, which is all we could manage, hoping to stretch our budget during the Steam Summer Sale.

If anyone has a ₹2,000 Steam Wallet gift card they're willing to sell for ₹1,600, I'd really appreciate it.

Want: ₹2,000 Steam Wallet

Offering: ₹1,600 via UPI

[Discussion] Steam Summer Sale good or bad

Anyone else really disappointed with this year's Steam Summer Sale?

I was genuinely looking forward to it, but my wishlist has been a huge letdown.

  • No Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag discount at all.
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is only 33% off.
  • Most of the games my family and I were waiting to buy aren't even hitting the 60% discount mark.

Maybe I've just been spoiled by previous Summer Sales, but this one feels pretty underwhelming. It seems like a lot of publishers are sticking to the same discounts they've had throughout the year rather than doing anything special.

How did everyone else's wishlist turn out? Did you find any amazing deals, or was it mostly disappointing for you, too? What did you end up picking up?

What proves You are a citizen of INDIA ?

Genuine question then: if a passport is officially a travel document, Aadhaar is an identity document, PAN is a tax document, and Voter ID is an electoral document, what document does Indian law actually recognize as proof of citizenship?

I came across today's news about the MEA clarifying that a passport is primarily a travel document and not proof of citizenship. Then I read about the Bombay High Court observing that documents like Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, do not, by themselves, establish citizenship.

That reminded me of something from years ago. Between 2018 and 2021, a man worked as domestic help at our house. I was younger then, so I don't know the full facts, but I remember overhearing the adults say that he was fighting a case to prove his citizenship because he was facing deportation (I vaguely remember hearing China, but I'm really not sure, so don't take that as a factual claim).

That memory, combined with today's news, made me realize I genuinely don't know the answer to this.

Then what document does Indian law actually recognize as proof of citizenship?

I'm asking this as a genuine legal question, not to make a political point. I'd appreciate answers based on the Citizenship Act or relevant case law rather than opinions.

I'm not asking rhetorically. If someone is born an Indian citizen and none of those documents are, by themselves, proof of citizenship, then what is? Is there a specific document issued under the Citizenship Act.

Has anyone listened to the Songs of the Dead audiobook and found the actual sung performance?

I'm listening to the audiobook of Songs of the Dead by Brandon Sanderson and Peter Orullian.

Not enjoying it but

The audiobook description says it includes an "exclusive excerpt of an original song performed by Peter Orullian and Luke Daniels."

I want to listen to it

I specifically want to know:

  • Which chapter/track contains the sung performance?
  • Is it an actual song, or just narrated lyrics?
  • Is it in the story itself or hidden in bonus material/credits?
  • Rough timestamp if possible.

I've already checked:

  • Chapter 46
  • Chapter 62
  • The Epilogue
  • Closing Credits

and I haven't found any obvious singing.

The audiobook has 74 tracks, so before I spend hours hunting through it, I'm hoping someone who has already listened can point me to the correct chapter or track.

Please avoid major spoilers if possible.

Thanks!
