Furstenberg in infrared
With an infrared camera, I got to see my local park in new light. Here are a few photos from my walks this week.
Canon EF zoom lens for IR
I recently got a used full spectrum Canon T5 with an EF-S 10-18mm lens (so sharp for IR) and 67mm filters (590nm, 670nm, 720nm, 830nm). I would like to get a longer zoom lens that ideally has IS and uses 67mm filters. Does anyone have experience with the Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS or the EF-S 18-135mm IS STM in terms of hotspots/IR sharpness? Any other recommendations? Thanks!
First outing with full spetrum (670nm)
Just got a used full spectrum Canon T5. EF-S 10-18mm lens with a 670nm filter. Learning to edit and still trying to find my style.
[New Gear] Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art
I got the Sigma 17-40 for my R7 and found this combo to be perfect for travel, street, landscapes, and portraits. Sharpness and micro contrast are unequivocally outstanding. AF is instantaneous and silent. For landscapes, I use MF with focusing peak to check DoF; the focus ring is smooth and perfectly placed. With the weather-sealing, I have used it in light rain without worry. The lens is amazing for blue hour photography, and sunstars are beautiful starting at f/8. Bokeh is generally good, but there are slight onion rings. With the IBIS of the R7, I did not mind the lack of IS on the lens; all shots here were handheld. I rarely found myself wanting to go wider, but I have wanted to go longer (this is where the new Tamron 17-70 might be competitive). The lens does look intimidating from the other end, which is a consideration for street and portraits. I have tested it for infrared and it is unfortunately unusable; huge hotspot at all focal lengths and f-stops. The internal zoom is nice, but I sometimes find myself not knowing what focal length I am at when I pick up the lens. So I reset to 35mm when I put it away. Overall, I am very happy. Did I mention it's star-bursty?
