Just wanted to say thank you + a quick dev update on my litter-picking app! 🌍

Hey everyone.

I just wanted to take a second to pause and post a quick update on Litter Troopers.

When I first started coding this app to turn picking up neighborhood trash into a turf war, I honestly had no idea if anyone else would actually want to use it. Fast forward to today, and we actually have a solid, growing crew of beta testers out there logging their hauls and turning the map green.

It’s been a wild development journey trying to build this solo. Between getting the native Android and iOS apps running at the same time, we've definitely run into our fair share of weird bugs here and there. But honestly, figuring them out and seeing you guys use my code to clean up your actual streets makes all the late-night debugging totally worth it.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has downloaded the beta, reported a bug, or just given me some encouragement. You guys keep me motivated to keep building.

I attached a few screenshots of how the app is looking right now! (I'll drop the beta links in the comments as usual if anyone new wants to jump in and help us test).

Grab a bag and let's clear the board! 🧹🪲

I built an app to gamify picking up litter. Need iOS & Android beta testers! 🌍

Hey everyone! I’m a solo dev working on Litter Troopers™, you may have heard about it! Well it's an app that turns cleaning up your neighborhood into a real-life turf war.

I need some real-world testers to take it out on a walk, try to break it, and tell me exactly what needs fixing. You can claim whole sectors on the live map or just use the "Quick Pick" button to log a single piece of trash on your commute without breaking your stride. I had 3 good walks this past weekend!

Current Beta Status:

🍏 iOS: The native TestFlight beta is officially LIVE!

https://testflight.apple.com/join/UqV9DuYw

🤖 Android: The native beta is ready to test.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.littertroopers.app

💻 Web App: Play instantly on any browser.

The native iOS Beta is officially LIVE! 🍏🚀 Calling all iPhone users to join the Swarm!

Hey everyone!

The wait is finally over. Thanks to the unbelievable support from this community helping me clear the Apple Developer fee hurdle, I just hit the launch button. The Litter Troopers™ native iOS Beta is officially uploaded, approved, and ready for you to test on TestFlight!

If you are new here: I’m a solo dev building an app that turns picking up neighborhood trash into a real-life video game. You use the "Swarm Engine" to track your cleanup routes, claim dirty sectors on a live map, and level up your stats.

🍏 What I need from my iPhone testers:

Since this is Version 1.0 for iOS, I need you to take it out on the streets and try to break it. Test the map pins, check your location accuracy, log some "Hero Hauls" with the camera, and let me know if you run into any bugs or glitches.

🤖 Android & 💻 Web App Users:

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you! The Android Beta is still actively running, and the Web App Beta is always fully functional and ready to play instantly on any browser, worldwide. Every platform connects to the exact same live map, so we are all fighting the same turf war together.

How to Deploy:

I will drop all the direct links—including the brand new iOS TestFlight link—in the first comment below! 👇

Thank you all again for backing this project and helping me get it onto every device. Grab a bag, claim your sector, and let’s turn the map green. Let's clear the board! 🌍🪲

One week ago I shared my gamified cleanup app here, and the response blew me away! (Plus a massive iOS update 🍏)

Hey everyone. About a week ago, I made my first post sharing Litter Troopers™—a passion project I’ve been coding that turns picking up neighborhood litter into a real-life video game turf war.

Honestly, the response from the Reddit community has been absolutely incredible. Seeing total strangers get hyped about the app, offer feedback, and actually use my code to clean up their streets has made me so incredibly happy. It has completely fueled my excitement to keep building this out.

For everyone asking to jump in, here is where we are at today:

🤖 Android Beta: Live and ready for you to break it! We are actively testing and looking for more users. (Link below)

💻 Web App: As always, the beta web app is fully functional and ready to go for anyone, on any browser worldwide.

🍏 iOS / iPhone: The update you've been waiting for! The native iOS code is completely finished with 100% full parity to the Android Beta app. Thanks to some amazing support from family and the community, the $100 Apple Developer fee is covered. I am currently setting up the dev account and getting the app uploaded to TestFlight. The iOS beta is officially imminent!

I honestly can't wait to see what the future holds for this project and to watch the map turn green as we build this community together.

Thank you all for backing a solo indie dev. Grab a bag, claim your sector, and let’s clear the board! 🌍🪲

I gamified picking up litter, and the map is filling up! Looking for more beta testers (Plus an update on the iOS version...)

Hey everyone. A little over a week ago, I shared a passion project I’ve been coding called Litter Troopers™—an app that turns neighborhood cleanups into a real-life video game. You use the "Swarm Engine" to claim dirty sectors on a map, keep daily streaks alive with a "Quick Pick" button, and log your lifetime stats.

The response from the first wave of Reddit testers was incredible, and seeing the map turn green has been amazing. Now, I’m looking for a new squad of testers to help me stress-test the servers, break the app, and tell me what features you actually want to see.

Current Deployment Status:

🤖 Android: The native beta is live and ready for you to test right now.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.littertroopers.app

🍏 iOS: Good news and bad news. The good news? I just completely finished coding the native iOS beta! It runs like a dream and has full 1-to-1 parity with the Android app.

The bad news? Since I'm a solo dev bootstrapping this with zero budget, I just hit the classic final boss: Apple’s $100 Developer Account fee. That is the final hurdle I have to clear before I can officially push the app to TestFlight and the App Store. So, the native iOS app is officially coming soon once I can get that covered! (In the meantime, Apple users can still bypass the waitlist and use our fully functional Web App).

https://littertroopers.com/

If you want to help me test the Android beta or the web app, let me know in the comments and I'll get you the deployment link. Let's clear the board! 🧹🎮

Edit: The final boss has been defeated! 🎉 We just passed the $100 goal to cover the Apple Developer account. Thank you so much to everyone who supported and believed in this project. The TestFlight process begins soon. See you all on iOS! 🍏🪲

I got tired of the litter in our streets, so I built a gamified app to help clean up the city grid. Looking for local beta testers!

Hey neighbors. Like a lot of us, I get pretty frustrated seeing trash piling up around the CTA stops and our local parks. I do a lot of solo cleanups up around Dunning and Rogers Park, but I wanted to figure out a way to get more of the community involved.

I realized that if I could make picking up litter feel like a game—where you claim territory, keep daily streaks, and log stats—more people might do it on their morning commutes.

I’m a solo indie developer right here in the city, and I just finished bootstrapping the beta for an app called Litter Troopers. It works on a "Swarm Engine" map where you can:

Pin and claim dirty sectors on the Chicago grid.

Use a "Quick Pick" button to log single items (like a stray coffee cup on your walk to the L) to keep your streak alive.

Upload verification photos and secure your block.

I’d love for some locals to help me beta test this, break the app, and give me feedback on what features you'd actually use.

🤖 Android: The native beta is live in the Play Store. https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.littertroopers.app

🍏 iOS: Native iPhone app is in active development, but you can bypass the wait and use the fully functional Web App right now.

You can check it out and deploy to the map here: https://www.littertroopers.com

Let's see which neighborhood can lock down the most territory. Let me know what you guys think!

I’ve been doing local cleanups in Chicago, but I wanted to make it more addictive. So, I spent the last few months building a gamified tracker app for us. I’d love your feedback!

Hey everyone. I do a lot of cleanups around my neighborhood in Chicago (Ravenswood/Rogers Park area), and I’ve been trying to find a way to get more people in my community involved.

I realized that if I could make picking up litter feel like a game—where you claim territory, keep daily streaks, and log stats—more people might do it.

Full disclosure: I built this myself through my small indie studio. It’s called Litter Troopers. It works on a "Swarm Engine" concept where you can:

Pin and claim dirty sectors on a map.

Use a "Quick Pick" feature to log single items on your morning commute to keep your streak alive (you don't always need a 40-gallon bag to help out!).

Upload verification photos.

Eventually, I want to build out a community bounty board where people can fund high-priority cleanups and tip the folks who do the work.

I am currently looking for beta testers to help me break the app and tell me what features actual, dedicated DeTrashers need.

🤖 Android: The native beta is live in the Play Store, but requires sign up via website. https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.littertroopers.app

🍏 iOS: Native app is currently in active development and coming along great, but right now you can bypass the wait and use the fully functional Web App.

You can check it out and deploy to the map here: https://www.littertroopers.com

Please let me know what you think, what features I should add, or if the mechanics make sense to you guys. Thanks for all the work you do!
