Is there anything better than the Thrustmaster T598 for the price?

Hey guys, my friends and I play Dirt Rally 2.0 pretty often during our hangouts. A buddy bought and brought over a Thrustmaster T598, and honestly, it took the experience to a whole new level compared to a xbox controller. Is there anything better I could get for a similar price? There are so many models out there it's hard to keep track, and if I remember correctly, he just bought whatever was available at the local electronics store. Thanks!

Performance issues with LG G5 65" as a secondary monitor – low GPU usage and stuttering (RTX 5070 Ti)

Hi, I recently bought an LG G5 65" OLED to use as a second monitor for couch gaming, but I’ve hit a wall. Most games I try to run on the TV via HDMI 2.1 perform terribly.

For context, on my desktop monitor (MSI), games like *The Last of Us Part 1* run at 130 FPS on Ultra settings (1440p) without any upscalers like DLSS. However, when I run the same game on the TV with the exact same settings, it becomes practically unplayable—dropping to around 50 FPS with constant micro-stuttering.

What’s even weirder is that, according to the Steam overlay, my GPU usage drops to about 40% when connected to the TV. The cable is plugged directly into the GPU port. This happens across most games, even if I turn off all "Game Optimizer" settings on the TV. My specs: * GPU: RTX 5070 Ti * CPU: Ryzen 5 7600 * RAM: 32GB Patriot Venom 6000 MHz Has anyone experienced similar issues with LG OLEDs or knows what might be causing this performance drop?

Meet Michał: My new Physarum polycephalum roommate (Day 1)

Day 1 with my new friend ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

His name is Physarum polycephalum, commonly known as slime mold. I couldn't decide on a name, so I went with a classic: Michał ( ͡º ͜ʖ͡º). For the first 3 days, I kept him (them) in the small Petri dishes they arrived in, just to make sure there wasn't any mold growing inside.

Today, I poured fresh agar into a 14cm dish and transferred the healthiest spores onto some oat flakes. I'm going to try to find him a bigger place to live in the next few days. Unfortunately, I can't seem to track down anything larger than 20cm, but we’ll figure something out.

The photos you see are about an hour apart, so he's growing pretty fast ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). He got a few fresh flakes and some "magic dust" to get him growing like crazy (ʘ‿ʘ)."

TLOU Part 1: Constant stuttering and flickering lights on high-end hardware. Any fixes?

Hi, I bought The Last of Us Part 1 on Steam yesterday and I'm having pretty major performance issues. I'm playing on a 5070 Ti / R5 7600 / 32GB RAM, and unfortunately, regardless of the settings—whether Ultra, High, or even Medium, and whether at 1440p or 4K—the game stutters terribly and there's an issue with flickering lights in interiors. I'm playing on an LG G5 TV connected via HDMI. Also, the game feels like it has an FPS cap, even though I've disabled all options that might limit it. Mostly game funs in 50fps even on 1440p with low settigns.. Is there any fix to get this running like it should?

Edit: when i play at my PC monitor MSI game runs fine. ultra settings capped at 120 fps.

Thnaks!

Audio cracking/popping sounds while gaming on TV – hardware/software issue?

Hi, I'm having audio issues while gaming on my TV. Regardless of whether I play in native 4K, 2K, or 2K with DLSS, I hear cracking in the speakers from time to time—it's hard to describe, it sounds like crinkling foil.

At first, I thought my external USB DAC might be acting up, but the problem persists even if I use the DAC via an optical cable connected to the TV and set speakers as TV in windows system. Or if I bypass it entirely and use the TV's built-in speakers. I have a feeling the problem only occurs with the background music in games.

What's worth noting is that during these audio issues, there are no noticeable FPS drops or stutters. The game runs perfectly fine otherwise. The problem definitely occurs in Expeditions: 33 and Gothic Remake. (only 2 games i play on TV)

My hardware specs:

  • GPU: PNY 5070 Ti
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 7600
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX
  • RAM: 32GB Patriot Venom 6000
  • Cable: Avinity 8K 3m HDMI
  • Display: LG G5 TV

Any advice would be appreciated how to fix it!

Xbox controller configuration issue: Windows on-screen keyboard not responding.

I bought the controller just to play Expedition 33 for a second time. It only requires two buttons, so I figured I could manage to play it from the couch comfortably ^^

anyway I connected my Xbox controller to my PC. I managed to configure it in Steam so that I can move the mouse cursor and simulate a right-click. However, there’s one problem: for some reason, I can’t use the Windows on-screen keyboard. It doesn’t react to clicks at all. The mouse works fine, but the controller doesn't. Is there a way to fix this?

I’m about to lose my mind. ( ͡º ͜ʖ͡º)

I found this motorized mantel mount (Maclean MC-891) for my TV. I emailed the manufacturer with my dimensions to ask if it would fit, since unlike other brands, they don't provide a calculation table or a detailed manual for these specifics.

Link to the mount: http://maclean.pl/index.php?option=com_djcatalog2&view=item&id=1285:uchwyt-maclean-tv-elektryczny-nad-kominek-max-vesa-600x400-pilot-37-70-35kg-mc-891&cid=1:uchwyty-do-lcd&Itemid=110

Their first response: 'The mount should work in this case.' I called them to ask what 'should' means—do they know for sure? A few hours later: 'Unfortunately, I couldn't get information on what height the mount should be installed at.' I called again, spoke to a different consultant, gave all the dimensions for the second time. The answer: 'It is possible it will clear the monitor, but we cannot confirm this scenario 100%.'

It’s the manufacturer, and they have no clue what they’re selling. ( ͡° ʖ̯ ͡°)

To make matters worse, I'm quite limited with my options. I'm based in Poland, and many popular brands like Mount-It! simply don't ship here. I’ve also scoured Amazon, but I can't find any decent motorized mantel mounts that offer shipping to my country. This Maclean mount is one of the few available locally.

Since the support team is useless, I’m hoping someone here has a better technical mind. Can anyone tell if this mount will fit on the wall, sit flush without hitting the ceiling, and actually clear my desk monitor when I lower it down for couch gaming/movies?

Thanks in advance!"

Hi everyone, I’m having a weird issue with my TV and audio setup. I have my TV connected to a DAC via optical, while my PC is connected to the same DAC via USB. When I use the PC, the sound is incredible—with the amp at 2 o’clock and the DAC at only 30/100, it’s almost too loud. However, when switching to the TV, I have to crank the DAC all the way up to 90 just to get the same volume level I get from the PC at 30. Any idea why the optical signal is so much weaker or how to fix this?

Hi! Is HDMI 2.0 enough for 4K on this TV, or should I definitely go for 2.1? I have two 2.0 cables, but installing them is a bit of a pain, to put it mildly. If there’s a noticeable difference, I’d rather wait 3 days and buy a new 2.1 cable. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for technical help regarding the Prime Video app on my LG G5 65" (webOS 25). I have a 1Gbps connection and YouTube 4K works perfectly, but I’ve confirmed that I am NOT getting 4K on Prime, even on titles that should support it.

I’ve tried several titles like The Lord of the Rings, Apocalypto, John Wick, some cartoons and Fallout, and the image quality is terrible—definitely not 4K. The "UHD" badge never appears in the playback info; it stays stuck on "HD" no matter how long I wait.

The confusing part:

  • sometimes i see the Dolby Atmos and HDR pop-ups in the top right corner of the TV when starting a video.
  • My Prime account is bundled through my ISP/Internet provider.

If the TV is triggering HDR and Atmos, it clearly sees the metadata, so why is the actual video stream capped at 1080p/2k ? Is there a known issue with the app on webOS 25, or is Amazon silently throttling ISP-bundled accounts to HD while still letting the HDR flag through?

Has anyone found a way to force the UHD stream or fix this resolution cap?

Thanks!

25% of the plan is already done. Just a bit more, just a tiny bit, and it’ll be perfect.  just need to manage 250m of cables, set up speakersz and it'll be perfect!

The remaining 75% is literally just trying to find that damn fireplace mount—apparently, nobody in my country has a fireplace, because buying a mount for one is next to impossible here.

Just mount my G5 65", Im happy as kid, amazing TV, just need to manage 250m of cables, set up speakersz and it'll be perfect!

there's only 1 cons - sound from TV is terrible, like really really bad, if I didnt have my own sound system, I would be very disappointed.

And.. relax, the TV is hanging like this only temporary, I'm still looking for fireplace tv mount, but it's seems like nobody in my country has a fireplace at home because buying one is almost impossible lol
