hear me out.

i've been trying to find a decent 1.7/1.8 server for a while now and the scene is cooked. like bad. i keep asking myself why nobody has stepped up to fill the void, then i realized, why am i waiting for somebody else to do it?

i want to assemble a team. here's my thinking:

why now?

the nostalgia wave is real and it's only getting stronger. people are tired. tired of live service games, tired of algorithm feeds, tired of paying $15/mo for a ranked system on a game that used to be free to play competitively. the economy is rough and minecraft is literally $30 one time. 1.8 UHC is the most replayable zero-cost competitive format ever made and nobody is running it properly anymore. that's not a dead scene that's an open lane.

also people are waking up to the internet independence thing. small servers, neocities sites, private discords. the vibe is shifting back toward owning your own corner of the internet instead of renting space on someone else's platform, and a tight community UHC server fits perfectly into that.

what i actually need

• someone who knows their way around spigot/paper 1.8.8 setup and plugin configs
• a dev if possible (UHC plugins, custom scenarios, anti-cheat tweaks)
• someone to handle community/discord moderation
• people who just want to play and help populate the server in the early days

what i bring to the table

i do marketing professionally and i have an actual audience, social media presence, content pipeline, and connections in the music and gaming adjacent spaces that i can activate. i also have access to a small amount of funding to cover early costs like hosting, a domain, and potentially some modest paid promotion to jumpstart the player base.

the goal

not trying to be the next big network. just want a server that fills, has good vibes, real anti-cheat, 1.7/1.8 PvP, and runs consistently. small and alive beats big and dead every time.

I've been studying hermeticism on my own for a while now and I'm at a point where I really want to practice with other people in person or at least surround myself with others who practice. There's only so far you can get reading and working alone. Specifically looking for a study circle, lodge, or working group that meets regularly. I want to focus on traditional hermeticism; the divine mind, theurgy, alchemy as spiritual practice, not just pop occultism. I've looked into the FR, some Rosicrucian orders, and Golden Dawn lineage groups, but I'm honestly not sure which direction makes sense without actually meeting people first.
