One of my spots took away cash tips. Red flag or am I overly suspicious?

Owner at my new-ish second spot has randomly decided to make us report and drop our cash now, to be paid out as part of our paychecks. I pushed back as much as my tenure allows and they insisted “it’s illegal” to tip out the cash tips from the cash at the end of the night.

(It isn’t and every other bar here does it that way).

The only reason I can think of for why someone would implement this is to skim our tips. Am I missing some obvious good reason or is this a sign of a dying business?

Standard vs magnets vs pin vs click vs ?

Recently got an A1 and was considering redoing my toolbox organization with a gridfinity system.

I'd heard about it when gridfinity first came out and filed it away in the back of my mind for when the time comes, but now that I'm looking into it for real there seem to be a pile of different baseplate styles and there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive overview of what's best for different applications.

Clickfinity sounds neat - not having to buy magnets is cool. Or the style with the pin. But why does it need positive retention in the first place? Doesn't it all just lock into the grid?

The lightweight/ultralight/whatever baseplates presumably print faster at the cost of lower strength. But, how strong does the baseplate need to be really? Tools have some weight to them but then again, they're just sitting there.

Don't really know where to start with all this. I have a 72" box and a couple 36" boxes I'd be building this for so... best to get it right the first time.

Can you spot all the references?

I’m not sure I’d call it an Arcane tattoo per se, but a lot of it is Arcane inspired

Know your worth boys

Don’t let them keep our pay suppressed. I got paid more than that a decade ago.

First gen Hyper rear brake woes

I've had this thing for probably close to a decade and the rear brake has never really worked. It'll hold it still at a stop but it won't do much more than that.

I've tried bleeding it every which way. Gravity, pressure, vacuum, on the bike and off, caliper high and caliper low, etc.

Not the biggest deal on this bike, I mostly just miss skidding into a stop, so it's never been high enough on my priority list to actually dig into it past the occasional "hmm maybe if I bleed it like this" but it'd be generally preferable to have it working.

Any thoughts? Blown master cylinder maybe?

Difference between editions of Stephen Fry's Troy?

I'm interested in picking up this book but there seem to be two editions and I'm unsure of the difference. One has a dark cover and is 414 pages, the other is a yellow cover with 288 pages published half a year later.

My local book stores seem to only have the yellow one (or at least that's what they have pictures of on their websites). Amazon has the dark cover one.

My inclination is to err on the side of more pages, but I'd also rather not give money to Amazon. I'd like to know what's actually different between them given that the shorter one is the more recent edition and I can't find anything on it.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Question: banana-shaped tattoo ideas

Slowly chipping away at what's basically a patchwork sleeve. The last major space is an oddly shaped patch that runs from about mid forearm to wristline. It's kind of a weird shape, like a banana or a tomahawk steak.

Looking for suggestions on things that might fit such a space because so far I can't think of anything. I need some kind of inspiration to send me down the rabbit hole and it's just not coming. Pretty open on themes though (e: not an actual banana, lol). The real issue here is I can't even figure out a good search term to go down a pinterest rabbit hole with.

Afternoon breakfast food?

I’m craving a big fat smothered breakfast burrito. But I work nights (bar) and am not conscious during the hours most breakfast spots are open 🥲

Is there anywhere in central-ish Denver with solid breakfast food that’s open past 2pm?

Axcaliber value?

Spring cleaning time. Found this guy in the basement, family friend gave it to me somewhere in the mid 00’s, thought I’d pass it along to someone who’d use it.

Then I looked it up on eBay and I’m seeing prices from $500-2000. Zero sold listings. Apparently it’s some kind of rare collector thing?

Can anyone give me an idea of what this thing is worth so I can send it off to fb marketplace?

What comes after find griner?

So there's this Colombian dude that has a little shop he runs out of a Sprinter van, has a couple alibaba machines in there and gets his beans from family in Colombia that has a tiny coffee farm. I get iced lattes from him before work sometimes.

Well I decided to grab a bag of beans from him and I CANNOT get this stuff to give me a good pull. My basket is as loaded as it can get (tried all the way up to 22g!), my grinder is as fine as it can get without the burrs eating each other, and still that water's pouring through like a goddamn waterfall. Like 40g in 12 seconds.
It's not even that light of a roast...

The rest of the bag is in my freezer til I figure out what to do with it. What's the move here? Let it rest a week or two maybe?

Talk me into a 698 Mono

I’ll be moving from the burbs to downtown soon and was thinking about maybe picking up something a bit more lightweight than I have in my current stable for short hops around town.

(Current stable being an 1199 Pani, an 1100S Hyper, and a turbo Busa streetfighter. And some active projects).

The 1100S is my favorite bike ever, having owned just about everything, so naturally the 698 Mono caught my eye.
But after digging into it the cons list is looking bigger than the pros list. As I see them:

- DSSA. Let’s avoid the argument and chalk it up to personal taste.
- Wet clutch. Same caveat.
- None of the liveries are all that great imo.
- It’s not any lighter than my 1100S. Listed 333lbs wet without fuel, my 1100S sits around 350lb (done some weight shaving). Load that 698 up with 3gal of fuel at 6lb/gal and it’s about even.

The biggest standout pro I’m seeing is the seat and riding position being more conforming to a proper supermoto, and hopping curbs and cutting through alleyways is on the menu here, so a more agreeable riding position for said hooning would be welcome.

(A proper sm is off the table, I’m uninterested in maintenance intervals measured in hours for what’s essentially going to be a commuter).

I haven’t test rode one yet, and I will before making a decision, but I’ve seen a lot of posts about these and figured I’d ask people who own them if I’m overlooking anything here. I want to like it.

First time really noticing these

In a lot of the action moments there are these flashes when one character hits another or something like that. But it turns out they're not just flashes, there are like 1-3 frames of these outline sketches that depict the thing happening.

This one is Caitlyn getting kicked in the face, it's not the coolest of them but it seemed like the least spoliery. The normal animation has her opponent spinning around for the kick, then a flash when the kick connects, then Caitlyn falling over... and if you're just casually watching that's all it looks like. But there are I think 2 frames in that flash, the first showing the kick landing and second pictured here.
So much work for such an unseen detail. When you're watching it, it just looks like a bright flash animation.

One of my favorites of the ones I've found so far is [finale spoiler] >!when Maddie pulls the trigger. The sketch frame that flashes as the gun goes off has this big Cheshire grin on her face that makes it seem like she's actually enjoying this, in contrast to her last words.!<

I'd love to find an album or something with all of these frames in there, they're cool as hell and I never really realized they were there.

Tribal ID's for alcohol purchase?

Location: Colorado

Someone came into my bar last night with a tribal ID card. It's just a basic printed plastic card, like a school ID, no security features or anything to scan (and the ink had like half worn off too). Indefinite expiration. I asked if they had a state ID to provide instead and they got immediately argumentative like they're looking for a reason to turn it into a thing.

E: Card looked like this (example from google): https://www.azcentral.com/gcdn/presto/2018/08/30/PPHX/02876646-65b4-43a1-ae52-fb80c8056bf0-Edited_Card.jpg

I can't find ANY conclusive bit of info from any kind of official source on whether a tribal ID card is valid for alcohol sales in CO. The best I'm finding is old reddit discussions where half the people insist they're valid and the other half say bars always turn them away.

Can anyone help dig up some relevant statute?
