Pistachio latte at Qamaria

Pistachio latte at Qamaria

Randomly came upon Qamaria in Aurora (near Chambers & Hampden) a few weeks ago and had their pistachio latte. The coffee is good quality and they put a smear of salty pistachio butter that is just so delicious.

Been back few times for it and it’s been great every time, so wanted to recommend it here!

Struggling to get my husband to take safe sleep seriously

My husband and I have been switching off nights with our newborn (under 2 weeks.) Last night, when I got up to pump, I found that he had fallen asleep on his lap with the baby next to him. She was sleeping on the bed on some blankets with his arms on either side of her. I screamed his name out of fear and he woke up. I took the baby to her crib and went to pump, but then he went and took her back and after I pumped I found him holding her scrolling his phone. I had to argue with him to let me take the baby back to her crib.

I tried to talk to him about it today, but he has just been defensive and I think he thinks I’m overreacting. We fought pretty intensely. Later, I tried to take a nap and brought him the bassinet. He was holding her so I told him if he puts her down, put her in here, that we now should always have to put her in the bassinet or the crib, not our beds or the couch even if we are watching her. He ignored me so now I’m still watching the baby.

I’m so overwhelmed, I didn’t expect this type of behavoir from him. He just thinks I’m telling him he’s a bad dad and fights me accordingly. I just don’t know how to get him to care about safe sleep.

Nuna mixx lie flat - safe sleep?

I got the Nuna Mixx and am trying to use the lie flat feature for the first time. I’ve pulled the lever and laid the back as down as it can go, but it’s still at a 15 or so degree angle. Definitely not flat. The foot rest is pulled up, too. Is there anything I need to do to get this to an actual flat position? Or does it not go flat? And if not, is this okay for safe sleep?

Not gonna lie, a little disappointed and don’t want to have to get a bassinet attachment or other stroller.

What to get instead of a Nanit?

Just set up our Nanit and I HATE it. The angle is so weird, the image quality is not great, and I learned that you have to turn on breathing monitoring manually every single time you take the baby out of the crib and put it back in. Oh and that all they do is send you a push notification when your baby isn’t breathing.

Any recs on what to get instead? Would love something with a tablet so I don’t have to rely on my phone. Also love something not on wifi and DEF not with a subscription. They made me sign up for one just to activate the camera (but don’t worry I can cancel before it charges me!)

How do I fix the distortion / wall mount angle?

Just got a Nanit and am installing it. I’ve adjusted the camera both on the wall and inside the app as much as possible, but I only get a distorted view of the crib and (interim) baby. I thought this was supposed to provide a Birds Eye view?

Also, to be clear, the only way it notifies you is through push notifications? So if my baby stops breathing, it’ll send me a notification to my phone?

Colorful or patterned strollers/travel systems

I fell in love with the LoveShackFancy version of the Nuna travel system (pipa rx Aire + mixx) but it’s $1600. I’ve been looking for other travel systems or matching strollers & car seats that have fun colors or patterns, but haven’t found much!

Any recs? Honestly okay if it’s in the same price area, I would just love to actually review other options vs not liking anything else bc it’s gray or black. I know it’s silly, but we’re first time parents and I like a little flash!

Denver redemption

My best friends are visiting in late June and I really want to impress them. Last time they visited was 4 years ago when I first moved here and let’s just say we had fun but they left thinking Denver sucked.

So far, this is what I’ve picked out for restaurants:
-Alma Fonda Fina (grabbed a reservation last month)
-Margot for brunch
-La Fillete for brunch or lunch
-Mango House for lunch
-Sap Sua
-Bakery Four
-Moon Raccoon
-Reunion

Specifically, I was wondering:
-Temaki Den or Sushi Den?
-Somebody People or Fellow Traveler?
-the Plimoth or Potaget?
-Best Ethiopian food?

And in general would love any feedback + recommendations for some special places, especially lunch and dinner. Could be fancy or low key, just no (other) Mexican or BBQ bc they are coming from Austin.

Edit: to be clear, I did a bad job of showing them around (because I was new) + these are just options! We don’t mind spending money on good food but didn’t mean to pack this list so $full$

Best bean and cheese burrito?

Looking for recommendations for a great bean and cheese burrito. I love the one from Jalapeño’s on Broadway (with the hot green chile, so good), but they are closed weekends and only open until 2pm weekdays!

I’m 25 weeks. On Monday, I had the second part of my anatomy scan. Baby was moving so much that day. 156 heart rate. Everything looked good. Great, relief.

On Tuesday, I had an OB appt. Quick appt, did the glucose test. Baby moved like crazy all day. Waiting for results but everything else looked good.

Today, Wednesday, I woke up and didn’t feel any movement. Played a song and maybe felt something. A handful of flutters later on in the day. Freaked out and ran to get a private ultrasound. Baby was curled up, heart rate 136, no big movements just some small hand and toe wiggles.

I’ve felt a bubble here and there, but it was nothing like Monday or Tuesday. I have an anterior placenta but also wtf. I’m going to call my OB, but I’ve just been spiraling in anxiety all day. I am so worried I am on the verge of tears. I don’t think there’s anything concerning here but I just can’t stop panicking.

How do you handle the anxiety? I feel like a failure and so dumb. But I also am just scared that my anxiety is right. It’s really scary even typing that.
