Re-spooled my reel after I posted the other day. I didn't have it tight enough and after a couple of casts had loops showing in the reel.
How does this look? Seems tighter, but haven't been able to try it out yet. Enough line? Too much?
6lb mono backer tied to reel with arbor knot.
Double uni tying 6lb mono to 20lb braid (closest in diameter I could find)

Seasoned with olive oil and Pappy's Prime Rib seasoning in the vacuum sealed bag for about 3 hours. Cooked sous vide at 137 for about 6.5 hours. Seared on a flat top griddle, finished with a compound butter with thyme, rosemary, and Kinders Cowboy Butter seasoning. Sliced and served with baked potato and Caesar salad.
Cooked sous vide at 131 for 2.5 hours. Patted dry and seared on Traeger Flat Rock. Sliced thin and served with corn on the cob and baked potato.

Thicc ass NY Strip cooked sous vide at 131 for about 2.5 hours. Seared on Traeger Flat Rock. Mashed potatoes and corn on the cob on the side.
Attempted my first shave with a straight razor. I posted a couple of razors the other day, this Thiers Issard Le Grelot and an Ed Wusthof Barbers King. I tried the TI out first as it's a 5/8 blade and supposedly easier to learn on than the 7/8 of the Barbers King.

Ouch, my neck.

I had to bust out the tried and true DE razor to finish up the left side of my neck and the whole right side. My cheeks took a while with the straight but they turned out excellent. There's definitely a learning curve to this straight razor shaving thing.

Feedback from my Alum block was off the charts on the left side of my neck (where I gave up with the straight) and minimal on my cheeks (straight) and right side of my neck (DE).

Just showed up in the mail today. Ed Wusthof Barber's King and Thiers Issard Le Grelot Spoak....First straight razor shave coming soon.
Tri tip with course SPG rub and fresh thyme in the vac bag in the fridge overnight. Cooked the tri tip at 134 for 6 hours. Finished by searing on the griddle and finished with compound butter.
I've grown my beard out and am looking for a straight razor. I feel that a straight razor will be easier to trim and keep everything lined up vs the larger head of my DE razor.
Does anybody have experience with these three? I'm looking for a straight razor with replaceable blades as I know I'll never sharpen/hone one myself. Is there a difference between these three other than aesthetics (and price)?
In advance of Moregon / Cascadia's inevitable win, I wanted to share some of our beautiful state with Megasota and the 'others.'
