Sonic Sourcecall

Heyo!! Never done this before, so here it goes.

I'm Sonic the Hedgehog, and I'm sorta looking for my Amy and Tails. I know it's a long shot, but I figured worth asking.

They're both adults at this point (or at the least, Tails is an older teen). I don't remember much about them specifically so much as I remember myself and our world, so I can give you a run down of that to see if our memories align?

Our world was once inhabited by both humans and mobians until a virus of some sort started wiping out the humans. Eggman's the last one left, and he's sorta Like That because of it. I don't really remember anything other than that. No specific adventures, fun facts. It's all pretty blurry.

Oh! And I already know my Shads (or at least, a version of him that I'm insisting is my own). Won't mind it if other Shadows say hello, but I can't promise a close friendship out of it lol.

That's all!! Lmk if this rings any bells! Thanks!

I have a hot take

Hello! I'm Juno. I'm autistic, physically disabled, and have been an age regressor for years as a means of coping with severe childhood abuse and neglect. I live with my fiance who has fallen into the occassional caregiver role when I'm regressed.

I have been lurking in this sub for a few months now, though never posting because I haven't had much to say. I have an opinion that I keep sitting on and haven't shared, but I genuinely want to because I think it could benefit a lot of this community's members in the long run.

Before you look for a caregiver, you need to look for a relationship.

I see a ton of regressors on here posting about how much they want a caregiver. The things they describe are all take with no give, and I do understand that there are situations where that will be the dynamic of the relationship, but that shouldn't be the expectation.

So many of you are looking for a caregiver which will allow you to feel completely cared for without having to do anything yourself. That mindset is going to lead to one of two situations: either you'll end up taking advantage of someone kind and well meaning, or you'll be taken advantage of by someone who wants to feel powerful.

If you want a healthy and lasting relationship with a caregiver, you need to see them as a person, not someone completing a service. They need to be someone you're willing to care for and assist and step outside of your comfort zone for.

I truly and deeply understand wanting to be taken care of all the time, but I worry for so many of you who are searching for caregivers without being willing to build a complete relationship. You all deserve to be cared for and treated correctly, and I hesitate to believe that can happen when creating a relationship whose dynamic is 100% reliant on you being helpless.

Remembered something from my canon...

I've been reading the Sonic IDW comics for the first time and got to Surge and Kit's introduction. Something about Surge really got me. I felt this intense sort of understanding for her backstory, like I could relate. Then it all clicked into place.

I thought I was canon compliant, but I guess not entirely. Because Eggman created me.

Well, not entirely. I was my own hedgehog at first. But when I was young, Eggman took me in as a "prodigy". It's not entirely clear what happened, but I know he was cruel, and the outcome was my blue quills and speed.

I know I'm not cybernetic, so he must have been doing work with purely organic material at that time. I don't really know how he did what he did or why, but I know THAT'S the reason I hate Eggman so much.

I'd love to figure out more. I assume it'll come to me when the moment is right. But that felt like a pretty big realization.

Look at me!!!

Drew how I remember myself looking and wanted to share!!

This is a weird depiction because it's not entirely currently accurate. I imagine this is me in my late teens. It's definitely after I first went Super Sonic, but before I retired. Bandages and stuff makes sense because I was constantly getting into Situations and needing to be patched up, but after I retired it was less all over the place.

Still, this is a good depiction!! Brings me a lot of joy to look at!

I miss my Tails....

I feel so lucky that my fiance is my sourcemate (I'm Sonic and they're Shadow) but DAMN I've been missing my little bro lately...

Been reading a ton of the IDW comics and I'm just like!! My boy!! I need my wingman back. He's probably grown so much at this point. I think he'd be an adult by now? He better not be taller than me haha.

Do kins fade?

Hi! I'm very new to this community and have recently gotten more involved through my Sonic fictotype. I was supremely obsessed for a few days and really felt like Sonic, so I started reading the IDW comics to appease the itch. Since then, I've noticed my kin feelings fading. I just don't feel as connected to him anymore and I'm not sure why. I felt SO euphoric a few days ago when I was called Sonic and really feeding into my 'type, but now I'm scared it was all just my imagination.

Is this normal? Or am I maybe not fictionkin at all?

Thanks!

Can you share your origin beliefs?

Hello! I'm very new to the community and recently have felt really connected to my Sonic kintype. I'm experiencing some cognitive distortion in trying to figure out how I'm Sonic, though. I can't figure out what I believe about my fictionkin experiences--whether they're psychological or spiritual or physical. I feel like Sonic. I KNOW I'm Sonic. But I don't understand how.

Was hoping to hear others talk about their own experiences so I can see what common belief systems are! Figured that could guide me in my own self-exploration!

If you feel comfortable, please share your beliefs in how your identity originated!! Thank you!!

New friend needs name!

Hello!

Just adopted a new friend I'm training to be an ESSA! He's young, still a puppy, and is super excitable! He needs a name, though.

I'm really struggling to find something I like myself, so was hoping the community could help! Thinking about a nature-y name, but I'm open to alternative suggestions.

Any ideas, I'd love to hear! Thank you!

[DE] Is this a reasonable accomodation under ADA?

Hello!

My fiance (26NB) has crohn's disease and has days of pain and constantly running to the toilet during flair ups.

Their job's policy is that any time off needs to be scheduled. Whether it's paid or unpaid, calling out unexpectedly accrues points. 3 times calling out within 3 months puts you on probation and takes away whatever bonuses you've earned for the month.

Since the pain is unexpected, my fiance has had to call out without scheduling due to waking up in pain. Despite being one of the top performing employees in the building, they're being penalized. They've been told they cannot call out at all in the next 90 days, and my fiance is very worried about what to do if they wake up in severe pain again.

So my question is: could they ask for this policy to be flexed as a reasonable accomodation? It wouldn't put undue stress on the workplace (there are many others there who do the same job as them), and they have the PTO. They would simply be asking to use time off without it being scheduled given their condition.

I really don't think this is an unreasonable request, but I'm worried the workplace will argue that it is.

I know FMLA is the best way to go here, but they haven't worked there a year yet, and we're not sure they can refrain from calling out for the next six months.

Thank you!

Tip for making this fur pattern?

Hello!!

I am interested in making a set of ears and a tail inspired by this breed's coat color. I can't find any fur with that pattern, so I'm looking for advice.

A lot of people who make ear headbands just airbrush the pattern onto the fur, which I'm confident I can do. Would that be possible with the tail, though, too? Or is that too big of a space?

My alternative idea is to buy gray fur and a darker gray color, and manually sew on the spots. I'm worried that won't look natural, though.

Any advice would be wonderful!!! Thank you!!

Our rats aren't interested in us--thoughts/ideas?

Photo for rat tax

Hello!! My fiance and I have three 4 month old brothers named Juice, Scraps, and Ditto (if you know those name references, kudos to you!). We've had them since they were 12 weeks and they're really so so sweet! They're gentle, okay with being handled, are are always eager to see us when we walk into the room. They're absolutely wonderful and we love them with our whole hearts.

We give them tons of free roam time in one of two playpens we have. One is just for them, the other is big enough for one of us to sit in with them. They're not scared of us at all, they normally curiously approach our hands and the one, Ditto, will normally climb on our shoulders to explore.

Besides that, though, they don't want to interact with us much outside hoping for food. When we sit in the playpen with them, they'll sometimes climb on us, but other than that prefer to keep to themselves.

I see so many videos of rats cuddling with their owners and coming up to wrestle their hands and play with them, but I'm curious as to how you introduce that? I'd love to have a nice relationship with these boys outside just food. I love them so much, and I want them to be happy with us!!

Any advice/personal experiences much appreciated. Thank you!
