Here’s my very personal listening process/story through a very emotional time! Feel free to share yours
I’m currently married for the last 24 years to a really wonderful man who can laugh and cry. He is sensitive and he’s just a really nice guy, but I was married before to another really nice guy. I can’t tell you for exactly how long we were married and I can’t tell you exactly how long we’ve been divorced but he is the father of my children and a very wonderful giving member of the community. Unfortunately, he came down with dementia and it was really sad and he passed away last Friday.
I was part of his care team, as well as my husband now who has cried many a tear over Paul my ex. I found myself in a very unusual place when it came to the funeral. Who was I? Where did I fit in? How could I help and I went through an entire process that Listening took me from one step to another till I could find my comfort zone.
I felt it was important for me to speak at his funeral. His most recent wife of 25 years would not do that and they have been divorced for many years and that would not be her choice. I thought to myself what will people think? Will it be inappropriate? Will my children be upset with me and think I am selfish? I don’t know.
I went through all kinds of things and then I just got to the place of I have things to say and I think people need to hear what I had to say so no matter what I chose to get up there. I knew things about Paul that nobody else would know. And I must tell you that through Listening I got to a place that made me comfortable.
I am thankful that I did do the eulogy and I believe it’s what the universe wanted me to do. The overall message is that Love is bigger than we think and it really does feel really good. I have a lot more to say about all of this, but I’m listening to and for my next aha moment. I’d love to hear anything from any of you about any of your processes in any emotional situations you’ve been in and how you have maneuvered with your Listening.
Sometimes we have no idea what the results are or will be from our actions because there is really no end to the plan, path or outcomes! All we can do is look around, take in the bits and pieces here and there and listen to do our best.

Sometimes the noise is too much for some of the accents and so forth, so I need some good technology that will cancel out the weights dropping to the ground and the music
Can you listen to more than one book at a time and if so, what is your strategy for remembering what you’re reading and listening to? How do you keep the books separate?
I need help with this and I think a lot of people do. I’m tempted at times to read multiple books at one time but I’m just curious how you keep the two books or three books separate?
