I made my own box for my game...from scratch.

I am still in a position that I can't afford a better production besides DIY but a friend of mine booked me a flight to his city AND organized a small event for my game with the collaboration of his community and a hobby shop. Then he asked me if I can leave the game in his city so that they could continue playing it. I was ashamed to leave the game naked or in a toolbox so I tried to make a box for it.

It was very difficult because I had no experience in box crafting, some youtube videos only focused using old boxes as repurposed, and having someone do it is expensive still for me. But I want the game to have a fit custom box, and not just some repurposed shoebox. As I kept searching for days, I encountered a video about gift boxes from scratch. Mainly using chipboards and card stocks (which I already have). It was perfect.

And now here it is. The panels of the board were perfectly sitting inside the box and all components where accomodated. There's also the right amount of space for me to do a custom tray for the tokens.

Here's the first house of my game, MonoSaga. It's still a DIY but at least we have the prototype. Every challenge was a journey, every improvement feels good to my heart.

After an EXPO playtesting

Last month, I posted here that I was in a tough spot. I was invited to an EXPO but I was financially incapable of travelling. But I did continue the fundraising but only between friends and family. Luckily, 2 friends of mine and my sister covered everything from travelling, to food, to completing the game, and making some booth materials to make my table presentable. Some of you did approach me but I apologize for declining, I just don't want to accept strangers' money at least.

And here comes the event, and I was physically unprepared. I had a line of people who wanted to try the game mainly because they needed my stamp for the event bingo card. I was not able to sit nor eat. My throat sore as well since I was explaining while the Beyblade tournament was on my right and Tekken was on my left.

But I am very happy with the experience and the outcome. I already consider myself lucky for reaching this far. To my surprise I had 9.5/10 rating for having a satisfactory and fun game experience. Most would like to try the game again or would like to join future tournaments based on our feedback form.

Even tho I had my struggles. It was really worth the risk. Now, I got booked for an event playtesting in another city that is a plane away from where I came from. This time they covered all my expenses + side trips. Now I feel like my game is more than a passion or self satisfying hobby, it slowly becoming something that people would get involved with. I am excited.

Packing List for upcoming EXPO playtesting

Packing List for upcoming Expo Playtesting?

Hello! I got invited to a Hobby EXPO in a different city to do playtesting for my game. The travel will take 5 hours to get there.

I just want to ask what is your Packing List if you're in this situation? It is my first time. Do not include the game, booth items, and food (provided by the event).

Have you tried playtesting a game while being drunk?

Have you tried playtesting a game while being drunk? We did. 😂

Dynan as Aranis the Elf Archer

Aina as Merlyn the Human Mage

Me as Durgrim the Merchant Dwarf

I died early on because I was focused on guiding them and letting them try some tactics on me. But I did die from a Tragedy Card and not from a player's attack.

Dynan won the game through Economic Victory by purchasing "The Throne" with 30 Gold. He won unexpectedly because he was still far away from reaching 30 gold, but he was planning on not telling us that he is keeping an expensive item that later on got sold and reached enough to buy the structure.

Aina was also competitive but in dilemma on whether to focus on attacking or race with gold earning. She gained tons of mana but due to an Event Card Weather that banned players from attacking each other using Magic Cards, that made the situation a bit difficult.

All in all it was a good 2 hour session while drinking some liquor. It will either make you lose drunkness because of how much you should be aware OR thinking too much will get you drunk.

I got invited in an event to do playtesting, but I have a problem...

Hello po! Looking for advice.

I recently received an invitation to showcase and playtest my prototype at a local board game expo. I'm really excited because it's my first invitation to something like this. Usually it's me who approaches people and the event.

The challenge is that the event found me in a difficult spot. Travel and food costs are my current hurdles. But I was told that they'll give me a table for the sessions, and the game is very playable but still not perfectly balanced.

For those of you who've been in a similar situation, how did you handle it? Did you self-fund, find sponsors, carpool with other creators, or do some form of crowdfunding? I'd love to hear your experiences and any advice.

I really love my game, and opportunities like these rarely drop by. I would really appreciate any opinions. Thank you!

Playtested my game while drinking

I think it's been the 5th time that my game has been playtested. Now we tried playing it while drinking. These players were the ones who were there to play its version 8 years ago. It's similar but got balancing rules and some safety nets for situational instances.

I have also been playing the game alone but this is the first time to play it while drinking. And since I was so focused on helping them adjust, I got eliminated early and the final bout is about to happen. I noticed that the game is not that deep but will make you think which helps them focus despite the liquor.

It was really fun. My game had 2 victory conditions and the winner got the Economic Victory without the opponent realizing. A hidden tactic that even I was surprised. Or maybe the booze made it fun.

How about you? Have you tried playing a game while being drunk?

Subreddits for selling merch or products made by me?

Hello po! Ask ko lang kung meron po ba kayong alam na subreddit kung saan pwede mag post ng mga gawa kong illustration turned into physical products like stickers, notebooks, and cards?

Okay pa rin ba sa RAKET PH?

Hello! Freelance Artist here.

I made some Sticker Labels for school books

I'm seeing too many AI-made digital products lately, so I just had to make a non-AI sticker label!
