Replaying the game and she is definitely somewhat overlooked compared to the rest of the villains, especially since she's arguably the most critical part of the Crooked Man's operation. All the creepy shit Vivian does:
-When you meet her she doesn't ask if you're there for police business and tries to basically offer their services to Bigby.
-She says "my lips are sealed" instead of "these lips are sealed" because she's clearly lying.
-When Crane is being arrested, she tries to convince Snow and Bigby he's the killer and gives a sociopath level performance of not knowing anything, trying to cover for Georgie.
-She wouldn't have confessed her involvement on her own, it was only Georgie telling Bigby that got her to do it.
I'm sure there's other subtle stuff I missed. It's interesting and also terrifying how much of a wolf in sheep's clothing she is.
For a game that centers on sex workers being exploited, I was a bit worried it would entirely portray them as just helpless victims, and that sex work itself was the worst thing in the world, but it really doesn't. Here are a few things I picked up on:
It's actually a pretty nuanced look at the issue and, I would say, a pretty accurate representation of real-life sex work. It's not inherently bad or abusive; it only becomes a problem when people are forced into the life. Obviously, there's magic involved here, but still, there are very good parallels to real-life.
I've had a genuinely bad coffee and junk food addiction for about two years. Not just eating in excess but literally it being all I was eating. And because I have a high metabolism it didn't cause me to gain tons of weight, but instead just feel bloated internally, like my heart literally felt engorged it was like scary, I don't know how else to describe it.
I've quit coffee entirely and I'm trying to eat more healthy. I'm still not off sugar but I'm eating it less, so it's definitely better.
But fuck me the headaches I had the past week from no coffee were awful.
For those who don't remember, this is the depraved prison guard who almost rapes Olivia in Season 9, episode 15, "Undercover". We're told he's done this to at least 42 inmates.
It's definitely the most respectful dramatization; it doesn't show the murders, unlike that god-awful 2019 film, but given how much the media loved to milk this story, it was still controversial upon release.
The families didn't like it, and they also portrayed Kardashian very sympathetically, which is arguably the most polarizing aspect, since people have VERY mixed feelings about him.
So it's pretty well known that Trollhunters is the most solid series of the three, but I don't think anyone would refute that 3Below is also very good. It doesn't feel rushed, and it does a pretty good job of incorporating elements from the first show, with Toby in particular being such a prominent character.
So why was Wizards not able to do the same, like at all? I understand only having one season, but 3Belownonly had two seasons, and was still well paced. Wizards just felt like massive setup for the movie, which is fine, if the show was still good. But it felt so rushed.
And it's also notorious for sidelining the hell out of Jim, and not really treating the first show with the same respect that 3Below did.
So I've seen some people recently accuse season 21 winner Alex Bellew of being a MAGA supporter. The evidence for this is that he follows some major right-wing accounts on Instagram. The only one he actually seems to follow is Donald Trump.
I would like to note, many centrist and leftist individuals follow these accounts to see what they will post. This does not make someone a MAGA supporter. In fact, Alex actually posted on Instagram criticizing the overuse of labels by politicians, and saying he basically believes that politicians manipulate voters to turn people against each other: https://www.instagram.com/p/DOiyvs1jclu/?img_index=1&igsh=NW12ZTRpcDlvcXZp
Now, listen. I understand for some people that this post is very "centrist" which means many will still disagree. However, he is criticizing the current administration in this post. Which is not the same as supporting MAGA. In fact, he criticizes in this post the overuse of the term "woke" and "libtard", showing disagreement with MAGA rhetoric.
Remember, when you say someone supports MAGA, you're accusing them of supporting a sexual predator. You're accusing them of holding views that are racist, sexist, homophobic, and so much more. You're opening them up to potential extreme scorn and damage to their reputation and business. Even if you dislike his more "centrist" approach, publicly accusing Alex of being a MAGA supporter is simply incorrect.
Now, if evidence does come out that Alex is a MAGA supporter, I will be first in line to criticize, since I heavily dislike the MAGA movement. But thankfully, as far as we know, Alex is not part of it.
In Season 2 of the Boys spinoff Gen V we see the character Sister Sage have sex with a man who has been mind controlled, and she is fully aware of this, and enjoys it. It's incredibly dark.
Now, Sage is a pretty evil character but at the end of Season 5 of the Boys she loses her powers of super intelligence and is like "oh my gosh I can live life without my complex brain now!" And then leaves happily. This is portrayed as a satisfying moment.
Like, she was on board with destroying the world, so the main characters just letting her go makes no sense. The ending of the show is supposed to be an unambiguously happy one, but one of the most evil characters got off with zero consequences.
Look, I hate to say this... but if a male character raped a mind controlled woman on screen, the writers would probably not have given them a happy ending.
Basically this doorknob has super loose handles so I need to remove it so I can try to fix whatever is broken on the inside, but I can't figure out how to remove it. I could just try to pry it off but I'm worried I'll break something. Please help!!!
I'm someone who is pretty good at dealing with "darker" or "intense" things in life, I wouldn't say I have a lot of fears/phobias. Except for bugs, oh my god.
I don't even really know why, of course everyone finds bugs to be a little gross/nasty depending on the bug. And spiders freak most people out. But oh my god they actually take me out. A spider fell on a shelf near me and I start hyperventilating after I ran and sat down. I'm typing this now. I'm still having periods of breathing heavily because the mere visual of it so close to my face is causing me to panic.
And it's not just spiders, all bugs give me this intense reaction if they get close to me... I just don't know what to do because everyone in my life has remarked on how odd this is. Some crazy intense will happen and I'm usually the calm and collected one, person who can not panic when something bad is happening. But not with bugs, they literally send a jolt of primal disgust through me it's so bad.
Can anyone else relate or even give me suggestions based on this?
I've tried tightening the screws and that's not helping, is there are a solution to this? If anyone's ever had a table with legs like these I would really appreciate some suggestions.
A few liberal arts colleges in the US have made everything co-ed. Roommates, bathrooms, showers. Everything. There will still be one single-gendered floor somewhere on-campus for people with religious reasons and you can ask to have a same sex roommate, but almost everything is co-ed. There are far from the majority, but it does seem like more colleges in blue states are moving in that direction.
Now this is beneficial for gender-nonconforming individuals but it can be uncomfortable for afab individuals, so what do you think about these efforts? I mean these are adults but still it can be a tricky thing to grapple with.
