Community survey results: Genshin whales and spenders

Hey Travelers,

Some of you might remember this post I made earlier this year inviting people to fill out an anonymous survey on Genshin spender and F2P behavior: https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/1pfitcg/community_survey_about_genshin_whales_and/

1,303 players responded and I finally finished going through everything, sorry it took this long.

TLDR: I wanted to find out if the F2P vs whale resentment you see online is actually representative of how the bigger player communities really feels, or just a loud minority in an echo chamber.

I mean, a lot would already say it's obviously a loud minority, but I wanted to find out with data anyway.

Turns out it's mostly the latter. Both sides are wrong about eachother. F2P players view whales way more neutrally than whales expect, with only 3.8% of F2P respondents actually viewing whales negatively. Meanwhile most spenders assume they're resented by a community that is mostly indifferent or even appreciative.

And for what it's worth, the perception of who a whale even is doesn't match reality either. Most self-identified spenders are dolphins spending under $1,000 lifetime, not the megawhales most people picture when this argument comes up.
