Teddy surprising me with a no lead turn

This was the second attempt. The first attempt I was just messing around and went into it and he did a perfect 90. I burst into tears and threw myself at him.

He is so smart and so good.

I was so devastated at having to start over and losing my boy Yogi when he died of lung cancer in 2023 but I'm glad I got to start over with Teddy. If it had to be anyone I'm so glad it's him.

Teaching baby Raspberry showmanship!

Miss Raspberry is not mine but for today she was mine to play with lol. She is one of the many horses boarded at the barn I board my fjord Teddy at! The owner's daughter is training her to ride and told her daughter to teach her some showmanship but she hates showmanship. So I asked if I could try! They enthusiastically agreed so here we are learning our transitions.

I had to use some rope at first because she was like "uhhhhh why" then she caught on very quickly. Then i had to catch on to the fact that yes she's actually trotting. I'm so used to having to sprint with Teddy!!

Tips and tricks welcome! Raspberry and I are learning together. I taught Teddy some but he is a very quick learner so it's much different.

I almost had a rotational fall yesterday. This feels fitting.

We were trotting and Teddy tripped. I thought very calmly as it was happening "well there by the grace of God go I" because all the sudden I was closer to the ground. He popped back up at the last second and God love him he went right back into the trot. I stopped him to pet his neck because frankly he seemed a little shaken. I don't care if that's me putting emotions on him he seemed bothered.

Well I looked back at the video, giggling about how we almost ate shit today and my giggles promptly stopped when I saw how we would have fallen.

It would not have been good.

I also heard the stress in my instructors voice as we were walking off as she said "let's not have a rotational fall today". And the worry in my mom's when she let out an "oh shit" when his knee went down.

Needless to say I'm a little shaken after putting that all together. So I'm coping with a meme.

Gotta hand it to Teddy, he saved it at the perfect moment and was going to just keep going forward if I was okay. I think we both needed a little reassurance after that though.

3 months into oral minoxidil

Pink hair is before. Blue hair is 3 months later! I'm already seeing significant progress. My regrowth where hair broke off and fell out is getting incredibly long and my scalp has really filled in along with my hair thickening back up. If this is 3 months I can't wait to see 6 months! I have also stopped shedding quite so much. I'm on oral versus topical because I have cats. My diagnosis right now is androgenic alopecia though they have not ruled out alopecia areata. My derm thinks it could be sort of both.

Some of the Breyers I got as a kid

I have 4 other ones that I got as a kid too. A chestnut mare with her foal. A black draft of some sort. A unicorn with her foal. And a palomino, black and grey set of parents with corresponding colored babies!

Five minute sketch of outside!

I did the five minute sketch of the view out of my window today and it didn't turn out that badly! I also did the self portrait but I don't usually draw in procreate so that was uh that was an adventure 😬

Wisconsin but make it Nancy Drew

I'm on a mission to visit every place that is mentioned in Nancy Drew! This weekend we went to Wisconsin. I wish we went specifically for Nancy but we actually went to see a breeding farm for Norwegian Fjords!
I know Treasure of the Royal Tower was set in Wisconsin so I'm tentatively marking this off my list for now. Tentatively. I'd love to come back in winter and maybe hit a ski resort! Bonus points if it looks like a castle 😉

These are the things that reminded me of a Nancy game that I took pictures of. Also Michigan based ND when?!

A little slice of heaven. A field full of fjords in Wisconsin

This was at Won Der Fjords farm in Wisconsin! We traveled from Michigan to Indiana to Illinois to Wisconsin by car. It took us over 6 hours to get there. So worth it! Love the nursing pic I got ❤️

Teddy and I had a GREAT show

This big boy took home two 6th place ribbons in non stock halter with some very good looking horses! There were Gyspy Vanners with magnificent feathers, possibly a Friesian and then some others that I didn't get a good look at because I was so worried about setting him up correctly lol. THEN he took home 3rd place in In-hand Trail. My Teddy! In In-hand trail! We had a little trouble there because the cones were soooo tight together to serpentine and he's...well he's a big boy. He did his best though!

I am so very proud of his attitude this weekend. He took everything in stride. He focused on his patterns better than he ever has in an arena that's not at home and it was OUTSIDE to boot! He stood stock still during halter but was alert and he set his feet like a very good boy. He put up with us spraying his mane and his body with show products. Teddy also was so good that someone walking by said to their horse/their friends "see him? He's just standing there sleeping" haha. He was probably the calmest of the bunch that were there.

I also felt I had a great mind during the day. I did deep breathing with Teddy in his stall after I put his halter and chain on. In for four through the nose, hold one two, out for six through the mouth. We did that for a good 3-5 minutes and Teddy just drooped and pressed his nose into my show shirt and sighed. I thought that moment of breathing made our day. I think it helped focus us both.

Teddy using his one brain cell with my mom to unzip her jacket

His favorite game is "unzip me"! He also loves to grab the ties on her winter jacket and snap them into her face then he laughs and laughs and laughs.

Rich in life because we got to celebrate our birthday together for another year

Teddy came from an auction so I automatically said "we'll share a birthday. I don't know yours so I'll give you mine". Teddy is anywhere from 15-21. We've been given a mixed bag of estimates! His coggins says 15. But the last vet said he was more like 20. It doesn't matter really. He'll be around as long as he's around. And I'll love him for every second of it. This is your last stop bubba. No more auctions. No more sales. Not a single more mile to find your home.

Is this an allergic reaction to oral minoxidil?

I have a very very faint redness to my arms and they're itchy. My face is itchy. My head is itchy. This started day 13 of 1/2 a 2.5mg tab. I went up to a full pill on the 28th. Like I said it's very *very* faint redness but I'm sorta panicking that I'm having an allergic reaction to it and I'll be out of luck.

I did just stop propranolol for anxiety so it could be related to that I suppose but idk.
