slippery slope

Hey ladies,

Happy Sunday. Just chiming in to say a cheat meal is a slippery slope. One minute you're eating a Cesar salad wrap from the Kebab Shop and rationalizing how it is a healthy cheat with lots of protein and the next minute you are mindlessly eating homemade candied pecans by the handful while watching Sweet Home Alabama.

And then you gotta battle the reawakened sugar cravings and get back on track.

New flair: Trigger Warning

Hello ladies,

This morning I viewed a post in a related community that upset me and I thought about all of you and how to best protect your minds from content that may upset you. While I want this to be a place of joy and happiness, I also want this to be a group where women feel comfortable coming to other women with their unique struggles and experiences.

I believe in freedom of speech and do not anticipate participating in censorship.

That being said, I have implemented new flair so that users can tag a post that may trigger dark thoughts, memories, or personal experiences that are not edifying. I also request that posts that utilize trigger warning flair use the spoiler tag to give more control and protection to those who may not wish to engage in conversation regarding said topic. *If you need help on how to select flair on a post or use the spoiler function please reach out*.

Thank you so much!

Can I bring in my own coffee to grind it?

Costco member, I go multiple times a week. Bought an excellent 5lb bag of whole beans, I only have a small grinder at home. Would anyone at Costco care if I went in the exit and ground my own coffee beans and left?

28 days in postpartum progress photos

Hey ladies, never thought I would post these but I wanted to help others feel comfortable posting their wins be it in photographic evidence or written testimonials.

LEFT photo BEFORE

RIGHT photo AFTER

photos taken only 13 days apart

5'7" starting weight 252lbs

I am 3 months postpartum and 28 days in to a 90 day commitment. My hope it after 90 days it will be locked in and both boring and exhilarating. I have lost approximately 7-10lbs but more noticeable is the changes to my body composition (where and how weight is carried). Clothes fit better, it appears my posture is improving as well. White hairs in my head are gradually lessening. My favorite win is when the outside leg seam in your jeans is straight for once instead of all twisted from your leg girth (the big baddies know).

While the photos look subtle the feeling has been very powerful and encouraging. Waist is trimming, back fat is evening out and lessening (a few months ago I noticed I have almost none on my left side from carrying my 28lb toddler). Abs are getting visible.

Shopping and eating meat fluctuates between exciting and boring. Most days the big struggle is to eat and drink enough to support breastfeeding and energy levels.

Stoked it is off to such a great start as I want to start trying to baby number 3 in 6 months or less.

Thank you all for your presence in this group.

Wiki in the works

Reaching out because I want to make a Wiki and want your insights and your opinions as well as the resources that have influenced your unique carnivore journey. It is my understanding that a Wiki is like a knowledge hub for the topic of the sub and the information can be constantly growing. I think the best Wiki I have ever seen is in r/bodyweightfitness Whether it is things you think every woman should know regarding their health or carnivore related youtube videos, books that guided you, podcasts, etc. Let's compile a hefty, thorough, collaborative wiki. I can even include individual quotes, testimonials, etc. and reference the user who submitted it.

Possible contributions

  • What is the carnivore diet?
  • What should I eat?
  • How often should I eat?
  • Should I fast?
  • Why do people follow the carnivore diet?
  • What can I expect weight loss to look like on the carnivore diet?
  • Do I need to eat organs?
  • What is the lion diet?
  • Will this help my *insert ailment here*?
  • Can I have a carnivore pregnancy?
  • What can women specifically expect to experience as a result of the diet?
  • What are good resources regarding women's hormone health (books, podcasts, videos, experts, etc.)
  • What do you wish you new when you were first starting out?

Post your insights in the comments.

Postpartum Breastfeeding and carbs

Hello ladies,

Curious if any other breastfeeding Mamas are eating carbs outside of fats and meat. Also, what is your fat source? People always just say, "Eat more fat", but I'm not always sure what that means.

I currently will eat a handful or two of cashews for quick fat/carbs or on occasion a few lundburg mini rice cakes.

My supply has stayed consistent but some days I am really dragging ass.

Before carnivore I was eating a lot of oreos as I read the soy lectin helps along with the increased calorie, oxytocin, and hydration. Working on maintaining good hydration.

Also, what are we doing for electrolytes? I made Judy Cho's sole water (1/2 c salt water in 16oz or so of water) added 1tbs to 16oz of water and it just tasted like I was drinking the ocean. Any feedback helps.

Oven cooked bacon

My favorite way to cook bacon. It is so so easy.

Prepare sheet pan and put bacon down. Put pan in oven, set it to 400 degrees. When oven is preheated set timer for 10-12 minutes and voila bacon! I usually pat the grease off before I eat it.

We have flair-please use it when posting

New rule-use flair: Flair is a way to assign a topic tag to your post. Imagine a filing cabinet, where would you file your post? We value flair for the ability to have a collection of all posts overtime related to a specific topic. When a member makes a post with flair a user can click on the flair title and find all posts from r/carnivoreforwomen with that flair. We want the search for information to be fruitful. If you have questions on which flair to assign to a post message to the moderator for guidance.

tell me about your Xeros and your ZuZus

Hi all,

Looking at buying a new pair of sandals. I previously had the shamma super browns which the sole wore out within 6 months. I had also sent in for strap adjustments and that took almost a month even though I live in the Bay not too far from Santa Cruz. All that being said, I can't justify the price point and won't re buy.

Looking at Xeros, people say they are cheaply made but their soles look durable. Also a fairly high price point. Would love feedback, some say it is very close to a barefoot feel. Some also report tripping over them and a large fit.

Also considering ZuZus. I like their warranty policy, the ascetic, the design, and that they claim they last a lifetime. Curious for feedback here as I am not familiar with the brand. I did email them though and got a response next day which is awesome. Also would like insight on sizing and fit as they don't have a size 10.

Also considering just buying a pair of birkenstocks because it has been a long time since I have worn barefoot sandals.

Thank you so much!

leather skirt with long fringe

I'll probably never be this skinny again but I often think about how I wish I had bought this skirt. Leather fringe, tried on at a store in a mall in Ventura, CA circa 2014. Apologies for the iphone4 quality photo.

tell me which manual pump you think is the best

I have the madela manual pump and am having suction issues (the o ring is fine) but like the handle. I tried the lansinoh because people raved about the suction, the first use was great but then couldn't replicate the suction. I also don't care for the handle and how you have to manually change it from let down to expression.

I am breastfeeding and pumping. Averaging 2oz a pump which is excellent and likely more when I breastfeed as they say baby gets more from you than any pump can.

I have used the baby buddah but found it painful and cumbersome in parts. I have a spectra that I feel is too complicated when it comes to the settings.

I got half an oz using the hakka and was able to self-express a bit.

I have really enjoyed the manual pumps and want to primarily use one. Open to feedback.
