How many of you did carnivore (or at least keto) while pregnant, and your baby turned out fine?

Basically the title. I'm pregnant with my first child (seven and a half weeks) and my appetite has been odd to say the least. Some days, I'm starving. Others I'm almost repulsed by the thought of eating. Sometimes, there's only certain foods I actually want and tolerate. I'm taking a prenatal as a safety net. Anyway, I read that the recommended daily intake of carbs is around 175g for optimal fetal brain development. But, I've also seen where (unsurprisingly) higher levels of fat are being recommended. I've been eating predominantly meats, dairy, vegetables, and some fruit. An occasional sandwich or some other form of bread. Calorie wise, I think I'm getting about 1800 per day. Back to the original question, if you ate low carb while pregnant, how did your child turn out? How many carbs if any, do you think you ate per day? Thanks! I go to the OB on Monday.

Breastfeeding and fasting? When are short fasts safe/reasonable?

Keto/carnivore breastfeeding mama here. I’m fat adapted and have been keto for almost 90 days. I currently do two meals a day so I guess I fast 16:8. I’m not really keeping track. I eat when I’m hungry and I’m 8 months postpartum. I’m not looking to start fasting immediately, but I wanted to see if anyone out there started fasting longer while breastfeeding. For example, OMAD? If so, when did you feel comfortable doing this and did it affect your milk supply? Was it closer to a year? As always, baby comes first. Hydration and electrolytes are key. I’m not going to do anything stupid, I’m just curious when people felt safe to do so.

Carnivore pregnancy and now newly postpartum!

I made it! My fourth pregnancy and I was on carnivore/ ketovore the whole time except a couple weeks in the very beginning when I just couldn’t keep anything down. I also had a cheat meal on kids and my birthday. Overall, I gained way less weight and I’m only 4 days postpartum but milk supply came in and I was able to pump immediately after birth and I’m way stronger than any other pp experience I’ve had. I had muscle under my water weight! I’m feeling great. Minimal bleeding, like the end of a period. Energy is up and I’m so happy to be home with all my babies. I meal prepped charcuterie boards to snack on pp and anytime I’m hungry they are hitting the spot. I feel more like myself physically and mentally than I anticipated.

How much bacon is too much?

Ever since kid #2 I have wanted bacon like every day. A lot of bacon. 1/2 lb with breakfast (eggs and butter) and often 1/2 lb with lunch (usually beef). Occasionally more than that. I do try to buy organic/clean ingredients. I thought it was a weird postpartum thing, but now we're 8 months in. I'm currently breastfeeding. I dropped all my pregnancy weight immediately but have gained a bunch while nursing. I would like to lose weight but have not been able to despite my best efforts. Mostly I'm just wondering if we think the bacon is bad for my health.

Carnivore Postpartum

I just had a baby almost 4 weeks ago! I quite honestly gained too much weight while pregnant (80lbs😳) but have managed to lose almost half of that weight (37lbs) from birth until now. I know carnivore would likely help me lose more and hopefully the rest. Are there any issues I could potentially run into or other perks? Like would my milk supply be affected? And would it help balance my hormones? Any info is greatly appreciated:) I was keto for 6 months 2 years ago and felt great. The only reason I stopped was some digestive issues. Hoping it wouldn’t be like that going carnivore!

A meal you thought you would never stop loving?

I have been carnivore for over a month and I noticed the brain gut connection has me desiring differently. I’m glad because now it doesn’t feel like a diet anymore but the way I will eat 95% of the time to feel my best.

I used to be a Ramen lover! Something so cozy and soothing about a bowl of Ramen.. I would even drive all over the place to try a new spot. I’m in NY so we have it all over.

I don’t want to say never ever, but I highly doubt I will ever eat a bowl of Ramen again.. i’m not sad about it. It’s just like, wow. Good times. The benefits of carnivore for me outweigh my “foodie” self.

Of all the foods that were troublesome, gluten made me feel the worst. Beloved everything bagels? I’m good on it. Thin crust pizza? Been there done that.

I’m happy I can still eat sashimi though! 😊

Clancy case

this is touchy subject but after watching the trial a few days, I just wonder if collagen/glycine could have been really important in post partum recover. glycine is used for sleep and has been used in high doses for schizophrenia and OCD. it takes a lot of collagen to produce a baby and even recover from tearing or c sections. bone broth was traditionally given in TCM as part of post partum recovery to replenish yin.

im not a doctor but collagen and glycine have really helped my sleep and anxiety and I just wonder how much of post partum anxiety or depression or psychosis is really just symptoms of depletion. obviously drugs will never fix a deficiency and I’m wondering if more traditional medicine practices like TCM actually have a wisdom that we are lacking.

I don’t want to stir the pot and cause controversy , this was just something I was thinking of while watching

eta - I’m not against western medicine, I just think humanity survived for thousands of years and TCM was honed for a couple thousand at least, which isn’t trivial. I just wondered if we should return to traditional methods when western ones don’t work

I am full but not "eating enough"?

Question for the carnivore ladies

I’m 5’5” and 170–175 lbs, with a goal of getting closer to 150 by the end of the year and maintaining a healthier BMI.

I’m a little confused about how much I should be eating. I see women my height (or shorter) saying they eat 2,000+ calories a day, while others say they eat “a steak a day” or “a pound of meat a day.” A pound of 80/20 ground beef is only around 1,200 calories, so I’m wondering how are people reaching those numbers?

Whenever I ask for advice, I’m usually told “you’re not eating enough, eat more fat.” I’m not afraid of fat, but I also don’t want to force myself to eat when I’m genuinely not hungry.

For example, this is what I ate today. I made two carnivore burgers using eggs as the “waffle” buns. The macros shown in the picture are for both burgers, so please cut those numbers in half. I only ate one.

I ate about 4 hours ago, and I'm still full. The second burger actually started tasting gross because I was so full, so I stopped eating.

I’ll probably have a cheese stick before bed if I’m hungry, but otherwise I probably won’t eat again today because its already 7pm.

This is pretty normal for me on carnivore. I’m rarely hungry after my first meal, even when my husband is eating or there’s food around. Before carnivore, I was constantly hungry and always thinking about food. Now I genuinely feel satisfied.

I also feel great. no fatigue, hair issues, etc. The only time I naturally eat significantly more is around my period.

So I’m curious:

Do any other women around my height struggle to eat enough? Do you just eat when you’re hungry and let your portions naturally vary?

And for those who increased their food/fat intake because you weren’t eating enough—did it actually help with weight loss?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. ❤️

Has carnivore helped solve any scalp issues?

Hello, I've been dealing with tiny flakes in my scalp for a super long time now. Sometimes I'll also get flaky areas on my face. After being on carnivore for a few months, I noticed that my scalp isn't as itchy, but I still have a lot of flakes. Has carnivore completely resolved this issue? I wonder if maybe I need to get a humidifier or try jojoba oil or something.

slippery slope

Hey ladies,

Happy Sunday. Just chiming in to say a cheat meal is a slippery slope. One minute you're eating a Cesar salad wrap from the Kebab Shop and rationalizing how it is a healthy cheat with lots of protein and the next minute you are mindlessly eating homemade candied pecans by the handful while watching Sweet Home Alabama.

And then you gotta battle the reawakened sugar cravings and get back on track.

Has anyone got a Ninja Creami?

I’ve noticed on the weight loss subreddits that the Ninja Creami is mentioned a lot as something people have invested in that has helped their fat loss journey.

I’ve noticed some carnivore ice cream recipes and I’m thinking they could be good for just before my time of the month when I could eat a goddamn table.

Does anyone have a Creami and find it good for carnivore ice cream specifically?

Thanks in advance

Methylfolate recommendations

Hi all, looking for methylfolate recommendations. I am located in Europe. So far I've had a look at Sunday Natural which seems to be quite cheap but not sure about quality, if that matters. Thank you!

New to carnivore and newly pregnant

Ive only been carnivore for 4 days and I found out I’m pregnant. Do I continue on even though I could rapidly loose weight? Has anyone ever done this? Just got some nerves because I want to protect the baby and do what’s best and I’m scared a rapid fat loss might do harm to the pregnancy. Any advice helps!

How many of us are raw, and what kinds of benefits have you noticed from it?

I'm very intrigued about trying raw steak. I have raw fish in sashimi form from time to time. What if I try raw steak and become addicted to having it all the time? I'm not sure how much more meatiness my coworkers will tolerate from me 🤣
