This is the most American thing I’ve seen in Ontario

I spent the last two days at Canada’s Wonderland. This supercharger is at a supermarket within blocks of the park.

Sure there were 18 stalls, but, all of us kept gawking at this hummer ev with a boat and Canadian plates taking up 5 chargers. Especially since there’s more powerful non Tesla chargers with pull throughs within a few kilometers.

The thought of a Canadian having this inefficient of a vehicle with this entitled of behavior was super funny to see up north.

Tomorrow is 9 AM open for KidzVille. Yet another, but not the same, rope drop question.

People on this subreddit claim that the rope will drop between 8:50 and 9 AM on special area open days.

  1. Is any food / breakfast / open on international street at that time?

  2. Does Canada’s wonderland play the Canadian national anthem within 5 minutes of rope drop?

I ask because I’ve been to every six flags Midwestern gold region park in the last 6 days. On Wednesday I experienced rope drop at Cedar Point and as we all ran to our rides, suddenly the USA national anthem played and it was interesting to experience it as well as to see how people react. I am very curious if Canada’s wonderland does this with the Canadian anthem or not.

FWIW my favorite rope drop song is “maybe a great day” from the Marriott’s great America era, and they’ve been playing this classic all summer at my home park.

An appreciation.

I’m currently on my second to last stop of my “Midwestern gold pass parks” week long trip. I wore a great America shirt yesterday at cedar point.

On an early morning ride of top thrill 2, the guy next to me told me that he was at great America the day before and that he really loved it. And was surprised at how good he felt the park was and even called his home park, magic mountain, trash compared to great America.

I’m at Darien lake right now. Great America spoiled me. Great America might be small, but man is it fantastic.

The Flash on The Flash : Vertical Velocity

I’m going to start off by saying that I am a hater of the re-theme of the ride, but, I absolutely love this and it makes me feel less like the ride is “ketchup and mustard : vertical velocity.”

When I got off of the ride I saw that this dude in full cosplay got on the front seat. As I was taking a photo / video, i asked the ride operator at the closing gate if this was a common occurrence. She said “Oh thats just [name]. Thats just what he does. He has like 3 full suits.”

Today started with Top Thrill 2. It ended with Maxx Force.

My goal on Monday was to ride as much as I could at cedar point. And for today to be a relaxing evening at my home park, Great America, before we went home to Chicago tonight.

To make a very boring story short, Maverick has an impossibly long queue line. So my buddy and I planned to get to Cedar Point at open. I know we have to haul ass to get to Maverick, but, Top Thrill 2 is on the way. We already know the locker drill at this point.

We get on TT2 and start our day off right. Off the ride not 20 minutes from the gate opening.

We ride Maverick, we manage to get in a ride of Millennium Force, and Steel Vengance before hitting the road at 12:30 CDT.

We arrive in our parking spot by 7 PM CDT, on the dot. We manage to get in Superman, Vertical Velocity, Batman, Goliath, American Eagle Blue, The Demon, Giant Drop, Raging Bull.

And then right at 9:56, we board Maxx Force. Started with the fastest and tallest in the USA, and ended with the world’s most powerful launch. Both of them fulfilling the hardcore adrenaline rush that I crave and need.

I won’t ever take this year of thrills for granted.

ELI5 : the drink cup ride situation.

Six flags pushes the $40 season long cup on you at their other parks.

You buy the cup at your home park, say, great America.

You arrive to cedar point at open and you wanna hit gate keeper while the crowds are still at the door. You have a bag and an empty, clean, cup from your home park. You’re not allowed in line.

Why can I bring my bag, but, not a completely clean, and dry, unlimited drink cup into the queue with me?

Drink cup upgrade?

I just wanna make sure I’m not going insane. There’s no way to upgrade from the red cup to the silver cup, is there?

I’m unemployed and I find myself going to great America weekly. I only intended to go twice this year and oops, now I’m going all the time.

17236 miles later, and…

My GHCA finally failed!
I have 2 AC adapters at home, and neither of them charge the car. I get stuck on “Waiting” and “initializing” and then eventually, “Error.” Last night I plugged in at 40% and it failed at 66%. I’ve had my polestar 3 in 3 times for service in the last year. Once was for speaker rattling on the driver door, and twice for scraping sounds from the front motor.

The manager at polestar lisle on the phone said “What? Thats amazing that it’s your first one!” On the GHCA failure.

I thought i was so lucky, and then mercury retrograde said “NOPE!”

I just gotta say

I’ve been to the park twice in the last week. Once on 6-23 and again on 7-1.

I’m aware that there was some opening pains in June. Especially with one train ops, which I experienced the pain of last week. I’m glad that was solved this week. I don’t think raging bull will be up to 3 trains anytime soon. The red train restraints look horribly decayed. You can spot them if you are on the right seat as you wait to pull into the station.

But the efforts made for overall park health and restoration, especially for the 50th anniversary, are not unnoticed. Today, I rode The Demon for the first time in 13 years. I’ve been to great America several times since, but, I always avoided the classic ride because of the pain.

The demon today is smoother than I ever remember it being in my lifetime. The restored theming is beautiful and the ride experience is, dare I say, comfortable. It’s incredible! And it’s so much fun to go on after rakasha. The demon also smells like steel. The smell brought me back 20+ years to my childhood.

And the eagle! Wow. I remember this one getting to be so rickity and painful. It felt like for a long time that the ride was heading towards permanent decay and rot. But honestly, it too is running smooth as ever. And it has to if it wants to do two train operations.

And don’t think I didn’t notice the quality increase on the whizzer. The partial retrack is also very nice.

Man I wish the loaner car wasn’t so embarrassing.

Like come on why do I have to drive around looking like a real estate agent or AVON lady promoting their business in the loudest way possible?

Like I’m glad they finally had a loaner for once but do I have to be an unpaid spokesperson shouting to the world “my car is in the shop!”
