Intuniv and stimulants

Has anyone felt emotionally “less like themselves” on Intuniv/guanfacine?
I’ve been on 1mg Intuniv (guanfacine XR) for about 5 weeks alongside Attentin/dexamphetamine for ADHD and I’m really struggling to work out whether it’s helping me or not.
On the positive side:
I definitely feel less jittery/anxious physically

stimulants feel smoother

less adrenaline/wired feeling

less overstimulated overall

BUT…
I also feel:
less happy/fun

emotionally flatter

less verbal/articulate

more blunt/opinionated

more sensitive emotionally at work

less socially “myself”

kind of detached from my personality/spark

I’ve also had ongoing 3:30am wake-ups, sweating/overheating, bloating and body soreness, but I’m also in perimenopause/HRT territory so it’s hard to know what’s causing what.
My doctor suggested either:
increasing Intuniv to 2mg
OR

increasing stimulants instead

…but I’m very medication sensitive and honestly nervous to increase the guanfacine when I already feel emotionally different on 1mg.
Did anyone else experience:
emotional flattening?

personality changes?

feeling calmer physically but “less you” mentally?

early waking/sleep issues?

muscle/body soreness?

And if so:
did it improve with time?

improve after increasing?

or did you eventually stop it?

Would especially love to hear from women/perimenopause/people sensitive to meds because my nervous system seems ridiculously reactive to everything 😅

Perimenopause/HRT question — does this sound like estrogen too high, too low?

Background:
Early-mid perimenopause (42)

ADHD + lean PCOS

Very sensitive nervous system / medication sensitivity

Before HRT:

Seemed to be estrogen dominant since 35. With nearly every peri symptom including.

hot flashes/night sweats

waking around 3–4am

joint pain

brain fog

fatigue

mood changes

overheating/flushing

irregular cycles

acne/hormonal shifts

bloods then-

Estradiol previously around 791 pmol/L

Testosterone previously 1.0 nmol/L

SHBG around 100

Ferritin around 42

B12 around 420

Vitamin D 89

TSH 1.5

LH 2.6

FSH 4.1

Started estrogen spray (1 pump) and cycling progesterone 200. Was still having symptoms so raised to 50 estrogen patch

Symptoms on 50 patch:

severe hot flashes/night sweats

migraines

breast tenderness

bloating

insomnia

rage/irritability

worse brain fog

severe joint pain

Lowered to Current 37.5 estrogen patch-

Symptoms now:

daily night sweats

moderate joint pain

some sleep disruption

but much less migraine/rage/breast tenderness/bloating

Recent bloods:
Estradiol: 422 pmol/L

Testosterone: 1.5 nmol/L

Cortisol 08:00: 199 nmol/L

So I’m confused whether:
50 was too high for me, 37.5 is too low or whether I’m just extremely sensitive to hormone fluctuations during peri

Has anyone experienced HIGHER estrogen making overheating, insomnia, inflammation, sweats or mood symptoms worse rather than better?

I’d really appreciate some advice because I’ve messed up 🙈

I’m on HRT (37.5 estrogen patch + 200mg cyclical progesterone)

The first month was rough, month 2-3 were great and everything was fab however all of a sudden my ADHD meds went off line and then I struggled hugely. It turned out to be because I didn’t have clear guidance on timing and was taking progesterone incorrectly for a while (basically doing two-week blocks without aligning it properly to a cycle). Because of that, my gyno recommended doing a “reset” last month and raised my estrogen patch to 50 from one pump of the spray, which was honestly really rough taking estrogen only for over a month (poor sleep, hot flashes, hair loss, acne, mood swings, etc).

I ovulated on the 17 and had a monthly cycle on the 1st which was great. My gyno recommended I wait 16 days, counting my period as day 1, then taking it for 12 days.

During that reset cycle, I was struggling immensely, so I started progesterone a bit earlier (day 14 instead of 16), I had a breakthrough bleed a week before the end. Then when I finally started to feel better on it, the last few days, my meds started working again but I accidentally stayed on it longer- 17 days instead of the planned 12. There was a lot going on and I forgot.

I stopped on the 30th expecting a withdrawal bleed shortly after, but it’s now a few days later and nothing has happened yet.

Now I’m unsure what the best next step is:

Do I stick to a fixed plan (e.g. treat the 1st as day 1 and continue with day 16 progesterone regardless). I know this was my natural body cycle.

Or do I wait for an actual bleed and then use that as my new day 1 and reset from there? This would not be my natural cycle and my fear is that I’m out of sync again. I can’t cope with another reset as it almost cost me my job.

I also don’t know if I even ovulated this cycle before starting progesterone, which is making me second-guess whether I should be following a calendar or my body right now.

Has anyone gone through something similar after adjusting progesterone timing or doing a reset? How did you stabilise things again?

Would really appreciate any experiences or advice 🙏
