Does Anyone 'Package' Their Marketplace Items, or Just Hand 'Em Over?

Though I am focused on Whatnot, I now have some items selectively listed on Facebook Marketplace locally too! I had stepped away from FB Marketplace selling after getting robbed in a $400 transaction in May 2024. It was an unsafe situation and I was knowingly hesitant to return to local selling. I've since set boundaries, and have a payments/pickups/general policies for safety I follow now in a better way.

So, anyway, this week I made my first two sales on FB marketplace (yay!) since returning and as I was packaging them up and got thinking....wait this is my relaunch I should up my game. And then I wondered also, do others package their items too?

What I mean is, each sale was a $5 crystal. They followed my payments/pickups/general policies that help me operate better, and the transactions have gone smoothly so far. I've got pickup appts this weekend for the items. So, I got thinking - if I make my online Whatnot packages a bit of an experience to unpack, why wouldn't I do that for my Marketplace sales too?

I looked through my supplies and found I could add at almost zero cents extra to me: A holographic baggie to hold the item (they're tiny), a few extra stickers, and a holographic thank you sticker I can slap on the packaging too! It was so easy, and I already had the supplies from using them for items/shipping in my Whatnot store! It feels like an upgrade!

I feel so good about this going forward, and hope to keep being able to do this. Larger items might not get a holo baggie, but they absolutely can have stickers and a thank you sticker too!

Here's the photos, plus show me your packaging too if you want because I love seeing it!

I am back to say....I have no more cancer! There is no more evidence of disease!

Thank you so much for all the support I received in this community, and reading the posts. It has helped me through this year of 2026. I had a complete hysterectomy (including ovaries, lymph nodes) in June. Today, at my followup, they showed me pathology and there is no evidence of disease in my body now! I have to follow up with my team every six months, but for now....in the clear :) Thank you so much everyone! I am wishing the best for everyone who is on this journey.

FWIW, I was super worried about the hysterectomy but my body feels so good after getting everything removed. I can walk, stand and be active more longer. I can move better. I sleep better. I just feel BETTER! :)

My iPhone voicemail calls Three Hills, Alberta. Why?

When I hit "call voicemail carrier" it briefly shows its calling a number in Three Hills, Alberta. Then it connects to my voicemail. This is a recent observation. Is this normal? I'm in Manitoba and have always had a Manitoba number.

Update On My First and Second Beading Projects

My first, and my second bead project together today. The first one only has one finding attached due to the cat being active on my desk and chasing the thread. The blue WIP (second project) is coming along nicely too, despite some errors. It has an extra bead on one spot row, and missing two beads in the other spot. It's going to be okay, because I got instructions on how to weave the missing beads in afterwards and the extra bead isn't causing any major issues except added width in a small area. It's so fun to do beading!

Question About If I Should Start Over...

I have included a photo highlighting the details of where the hole is, and then the same picture without the highlight being pointed out so you can inspect it. What happened, I think, is that a bead broke off. I'm using a set of Miyuki Delica's for my C colour in the pattern and they've been very bad quality, lots of faulty beads and broken ones in the pack. I'll have enough to finish, but I had to take some out of the tray. Anyway, I tried to go 'backwards' to fix this when I noticed the hole, but my thread got caught and I couldn't get it to reverse any further so I just 'kept going forward'. Do you think this will affect the structural integrity? I'm on row 30ish in the pattern, maybe I should start over? This is my 2nd bead project.

I hit my breaking point with "closet clutter"

I'm a seller on Whatnot, but I can't seem to hold a live show at all, despite being a Twitch streamer for like 10+ years in various forms. It's not the same. It's so different. And it intimidates me.

Hi. I have a closet and a bedroom and basically a home full of clutter that is actually treasure to ME.

I only have about 3 hobbies these days, magic the gathering alter painting, diamond painting, and beadwork. I want to liquidate my entire bedroom and home and especially my closet of clutter that doesn't translate in the seasons of my life going forward. It is mildly valuable stuff that I find to be quite a bit of treasure, however I'm frustrated with things like shipping and online sales. Whatnot has been about the best to me so far, mostly because I can print the labels at home and not have to do it through a different service.

What I struggle with is, the livestreams. Sitting there alone for hours on end with nobody buying anything, or even staying is so frustrating. I'm lonely enough as it is. I also don't want to spend my whole time on social media anymore either. I tried offline sales, but it's too hard on me with health, my cat with needs and just in general being outside the home.

Any suggestions on how to power through a season of actually selling?

Canadian seller.

I Can Only Uber/Transit+ and Want to Experience Quiet Solitude in Winnipeg Without Being At Home

I recently picked up beadwork, and would like to experience a place outdoors to spend time in quiet solitude while beading. Preferably near the water. I hate bugs though, which makes me nervous going into the season that we are. I'd like to maximize my time outdoors if possible, whenever possible, this year. Any recommendations on good AND SAFE places to go alone?

A few days ago I posted I was new to beading....my Progress!

This is my progress so far! It's turning out pretty good, but it took about six or seven starts to get here. I thought I was doing even count peyote but then when I realized it was odd count peyote stitch I just looked up some tutorials and found out I had to do a special turnaround and now it's laying flat. I undid my old starts. It's going to be a bracelet. I'm in love with the pattern, which is called Dandelion.

Thank you for everyone who encouraged me to have patience, and enjoy beading! It's very pleasureable!

I'm waiting for her to take a nappy so I can do some painting!

She's such a good girl and usually takes a nap around this time of day, so I can get some painting in and then we can play games again later! She loves sticking her face in shoes, chewing boxes and watching the squirrels from the window. She has a flattened (from her body crushing it) pink box that she loves to lay on, it had cookies in it in a former life - I wonder if her favorite colour is just pink? Her name is Eloise!

Am I Going To Love This? (Beginner to beading!)

Well, rhetorical question to begin in the title however I am pretty sure I'm going to love this! I'm new to beading, though I have done loom beading with seed beads in the past. I'm excited to begin a bracelet in peyote stitch. It's 9 colours and the pattern seems simple enough. This is my beginner bead haul for the project, I will get findings when I actually finish the bracelet body. :) Have a great day everyone! The beads are Miyuki Delica.

Working during a storm

I take the above photos of the full canvas when I finish the rows. I should finish this row (row 2) sometime this weekend, if not sooner.

Feeling safe to be inside and working on a project :) It's a thunderstorm outdoors.

Grade 1B - Prepping For Surgery

43F

I learned in early February I have endometrial cancer. At the time, they mentioned it was Grade 1A. Due to my complicated health history, surgery was not recommended at the time. Instead, we were doing conservative treatment with hormones in hopes to cure it. I am a dialysis patient with kidney failure, and heart issues. I had an MRI at the end of April though, and results are back. On my CancerCare meeting on last Tuesday they informed me my cancer has spread into the uterus muscle and it is now considered Grade 1B. Surgery will be necessary to proceed, granted I am a surgical candidate. So I am undergoing all the preop surgery tests and getting ready to have surgery for hysterectomy/ovaries/tubes/cervix removal within the next 6 weeks. Also it's been mentioned I'll probably need radiation or chemotherapy afterwards the surgery too.

I was feeling super strong and confident to get through this before, but currently I'm a bit taken aback. I don't mind to have the surgery, but all the warnings about how complicated it might be for someone like me really makes me a bit more nervous. I know I need to trust creator and the creation plan, and if something happens it's probably meant to happen, but it's still being a bit hard to wrap my head around the whole thing in confidence like before.

Since they don't know the Stage of the cancer until after the surgery, there is a possibility, my oncologist informed, that if they open me up to do the removal they'll find that it has spread and will have to close me again and find a different treatment plan.

Feeling bummed, it's been only 6ish months since we lost my Dad to cancer last fall.

Thanks for letting me post about this, I am finding it hard to find people in my day to day that I want to talk with about it in particular right now, but I'm sure that will come.

Made My First SALES On Etsy Today!

I make anti static sheets for diamond painters, called Aura Sheets! They're available in a variety of sophisticated scents and unscented too. Simple product to use, especially helpful for taming those static-y drills when crafting though!

I notice that through my marketing was the best traffic generator here, even though Etsy is a marketplace (which a lot of people tout it as their end all be all because of it's marketplace features) I am almost certain that my own marketing is the best for promoting my product :) And I'm happy at that anyway.

I'm hoping to make this business as a hobby/side hustle!

I'm tickled that I'm getting orders in my launch week, and I am having a major sale of 25% off until June 15th, 2026! My shop is at https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/dawntoduskgems

I Have 3 WIPS for Wednesday!

  1. Boreas from Jaded Gem Shop - prepping it for Summers w/ The Masters and a Gods & Goddesses event over on FB/Discord. I love this canvas, watching this first row come together already has been a beautiful experience!

  2. Disco Trip by Paint with Diamonds, hoping to finish before June 1st! Happy this canvas is almost done, but honestly I will miss it. It's been very fun!

  3. Close Encounters, again hoping for a finish before June 1st but it might be tabled a bit during the summer otherwise if I don't get a finish on it. Still very fun!

I just want to show off my WIPS and talk a minute (Cat Tax Paid)

Heya! So my two WIPS shown:

  1. Disco Trip from Paint With Diamonds, 80x80cm. It is a biggie, I started July 2024 and I'm on track to finish before June! I did almost that whole unfinished row yesterday except for one tiny section. I will miss this kit when I'm finished it, because the glue is so thick and nice! Like it's really sinky and plush glue, I love a thick glue. I wanted to do a disco ball when I was new to diamond painting, because it seemed appropriate - disco balls are kind of pixellated objects like diamond painting is. This was the only disco ball kit I could find at the time, so that is why I have it! I love it as a concept though, it is acrylic square drills. I don't mind. This kit has been really nice tbh.

  2. Close Encounters by Scot Howden from DAC. This one is almost finished the row too. It's probably going to be backburnered once June hits due to another event I'm doing (which I'll be doing Boreas by Jaded Gem Shop for, I started her for the event last year but didn't make much progress so most of my Boreas canvas is still unfinished). I love this canvas in it's colours and it's a round so it's working up nice and quick too! I started it for a Weird event earlier this year, but life got lifeing and I don't usually end up finishing event kits very quickly for the events LOL! Anyway, cute kit, eh?

  3. Some kit pictures. I recently got trabricks (which has the Close Encounters in it). I have a tote for them coming, but for now they're in an ArtDot luggage storage case that has been emptied. The RedTwo system I just got too, and I LOVE IT! It's literally the most ideal system for me, I'm not going to stick them together with the adhesive (like you can, it's included) but I prefer to keep them as horizonal units laying flat (face up) and portable like that. It's modular, and I actually love it so much I just added an order for a second 60 set so I can have it to use with big confetti kits (that I'm prone to do!). Disco Trip is kitted into the RedTwo system.

Cat tax paid, she was laying on my trabricks.

I made these for important caregivers in my life

I do dialysis 3 or 4 times a week, every week. So I'm often hanging around with nurses, and they have been so compassionate in their care for me. I wanted to do something to give back to them, even if it's just really simple. I made these using beads on a beadable pen.

I have had a love hate relationship with the idea of beadable crafts, I'm used to crafting and arting where my hands get messy with paint, soap making, nail polish, clay, idk you name I've dabbled in it, but this was simple, easy and quick for me to do. Yet it feels so complete, so polished, and I know it will be so appreciated. I think I'm falling in love with beads and beading!
