The party scene (first time watcher)

I've been hearing for many years that EWS was great, or that it was garbage. Finally started watching it last night.

Early in the movie, at the party, both spouses are flirted with by other partygoers. What I couldn't understand was the characters' bizarre body language. The two models flirting with Bill are absolutely WRITHING--it is so weird and exaggerated--no one moves like that. Meanwhile Alice, dancing with the Hungarian, is making faces like a porn star in a third-rate sex scene. Every time he speaks to her, there is a long pause when she makes an I'm-pretending-to-have-an-orgasm face before answering. She's also doing weird, unnatural body movement.

I've read many reviews and never seen anyone comment on this. I found it very unpleasant to watch. I thought it must mean something, but I had no idea what.

The trouble with terraforming

When a planet is terraformed, what happens to its native life forms, which may not be suited to terra-like conditions? We know that Preservation values its native flora, but how will they keep it alive as their terraforming work continues and the environment differs more and more from its previous state?

Or does all terraforming happen under giant domes, leaving the area outside the dome unaltered? There are some references to domes but it's not consistent. Like when the Mensalings go out and play in the creek, they seem to be playing in a natural area.

Show me your colors

What color blue, exactly, do you think of as Perihelion blue? Pictures please.

EDIT: Interesting to see how varied the answers are--every kind of blue. I wonder what blue they'll use in the TV show. (Perihelion uses blue for uniforms, decoration, etc., or we riot.)

Your comments have also made me aware of colorpicker and color-hex, great resources.

How did you know it was time

How did you decide it was time to get cataract surgery and not wait any longer? What were the problems or symptoms that pushed you over the line?

The Race for Space

Public Service Broadcasting create their "history soundtracks" by setting real-life recordings--from newscasts, the NASA control room, etc.--to electronic music. I'm a huge fan of their album "The Race for Space." Eagles, you might cry happy tears when you listen to "The Other Side," their song about Apollo 8. On a separate recording, they have a song about the Chief Designer, "Korolev." https://publicservicebroadcasting.bandcamp.com/album/the-race-for-space

The Right Stuff

After watching a couple of seasons of FAM and several episodes of SC, I decided to watch the movie The Right Stuff. TRS is fiction but based on real events, and I learned a lot! I hadn't known that Star City was a real place. I hadn't known that the Chief Designer was a real person. (There's a great scene in the movie where the Americans view spy footage of him--it really resonated with me as a Star City eagle. Then I went to Wikipedia to learn more.) I recommend the movie as an interesting counterpoint to the TV shows.

New user, really basic question

I get emails saying "you have a new message. [person] mentioned you in [server]." Then there is a button saying "view messages." When I click the button, it takes me to an apparently random place on the server, and no message for me is visible. I scroll up and down and don't see anything that looks relevant.

Why does this happen? Is there really a message or post that I should be seeing, and if so, how do I see it?

I can't stand the jumping arrow when I "like" things on Reddit. I hated when FB animated their symbols and now Reddit is doing it too. Are you bothered by things like this? I guess it has one good point: it will make me spend less time on social media.
