Quality deterioration at Longos at Hurontario/ Ray Lawson
I have been their regular customer for 20+ years, mainly for produce and fruits (and dairy before I got my Costco membership). They have an excellent customer service and carry high quality vegetables and fruit - until COVID hit.
I understand that they had to increase their prices to pay reasonable wages to employees. However, the quality of product you pay for that increases price is not worth it anymore.
This is the third time I ended up buying a product that has turned bad and had fungus on it. Chilli peppers. In the past, I had the same experience with Coleslaw and spinach. Even the vegetables you buy seem good initially, but turn bad couple of days in the fridge - eggplant, beans, pepper
And with fruits, everything is imported from the US except apples and bananas and mangoes. And even the variety of fruits they used to stock have gone down. Grapes are ridiculously expensive.
I avoid No Frills because of poor quality and Metro because of high prices. Longos has been my go to store for 20+ years. This is the first time I bought vegetables at an Indian store as they were cheaper but of decent quality (beans/Chinese eggplant/large eggplant).
Does anyone feel the same?
