U.S. Tractor Sales Fall 18%, Combine Sales Increase 4% From 2025

I work in tractor implement sales. We've seen a major drop in sales this year over last year. Combined with the extremely high cost of diesel fuel and fertilizer, farming is taking a major hit this year. This month, July, we've seen a staggering drop in sales. I'm wondering: from other business owners outside of farming, have you seen a serious drop in sales this month?

LinkedIn is begging us to allow them to post their AI Slop article where Sarasota is featured

LinkedIn has an official Reddit account on which they're asking permission to post a link to their AI Slop article about how "Sarasota is one of the fastest growing metros". Don't worry, I told them to fuck off. Definitely a sign that shit ain't doing well over at LinkedIn if they have to beg a subreddit with 60k subs for permission to post an article.

Drought Update: Progress stalled but burn ban is over!

Our DSCI rating held at 350. Our KBDI rating is down between 450 - 499. The state DSCI has increased slightly to 240. Last week, the state DSCI was 239 last week. The KBDI dropped from last week. Manatee is at 450- 499 and Sarasota at 450-499 KBDI rating.

Weather:

Significant rainfall is projected through next week. An area of low pressure will form in the Gulf bringing significant rainfall throughout the week

News:

The burn ban for Sarasota ended on July 12th, 2026.

Water restrictions have been extended until October 1st, 2026.

What does DSCI and KBDI ratings mean?

The DSCI is a measurement to quantify the severity of a drought over time. It goes from abnormally dry to exceptional drought. It’s an indication of the long-term effects of the drought. Exceptional droughts cause permanent damage and changes to the water table.

The KBDI is a measurement of how dry the topsoil and lower soil levels are for moisture. This scale ranges from 0 - 700+. The higher the number, the less overall moisture is the soil. This number is important for understanding fire risk. Numbers over 400 start a burn ban.

The reason why both are needed to understand the scope of a drought is that an area can be in severe drought but still have a low KBDI rating, meaning the risk of fire isn’t high there.

Star Wars Episode 1 was insanely overhyped

I couldn’t believe how much this movie was pushed to us growing up. I love Star Wars but this was the most mid movie of its time. I was too young to fully understand a cash grab at the time.

What was your experience with this movie?
