Goodbye placeholders, hello actual visuals

Finally ditching the placeholder assets and working on our own visuals for Idlecraft! This is an early look at the new block textures and scene setup. Still a work in progress, but it's starting to feel more like a prototype than an idea. How's the vibe? Does it feel like it fits the Minecraft-inspired aesthetic we're going for?

For those wondering - Idlecraft is a hover-to-act idle/incremental game. You mine ores at day, slay mobs at night, and spend your resources on upgrades between runs. Biomes are mostly visual for now but we're planning unique content for different realms down the line.

(SFXs are still placeholders, they ll not be in final product)

Shoutout to Ken Perlin

Experimenting with biome generation for our idle/incremental game Idlecraft! Early tests with different noise parameters and biome distributions using Minecraft biomes as a base. Height is not really a factor in our game, so it's been left out of this preview as well.

(Sadly, not all biomes have their own blocks yet in the 3D preview and assets are still placeholders for now)

Still working on a Minecraft-inspired incremental game

Another very early look at Idlecraft! This time we're experimenting with different block types for biome variations system. Assets and sounds are still Minecraft placeholders, but we're curious about the overall feel. What do you think?

Asked my wife to polish my capsule art

The old version was just a quick in-engine screenshot I took. It did the job, but it felt a bit flat.

I finally asked my wife, who is a professional 2D artist, to take a look. She kept the composition the same but added all the "magic" touches, lighting, and polish that I just couldn't pull off.

Which one do you prefer? Let me know your thoughts!

Woke up to this wishlist spike from Asia! But how do you track down the source?

It absolutely made my day, but Steam analytics is just saying "Direct Navigation" so I have no idea where it's actually coming from. My game is Roll Together (a chaotic physics co-op), so maybe a clip went a bit viral in a group chat?

Do you guys have any tips or tricks to hunt down the exact link or origin of these random mystery spikes?

Game dev is so easy. Just write a simple respawn script and watch your characters instantly turn into spaghetti

This is part 5 of our early development clips series of Roll Together! 🎬

When we first reached this part of the level, we realized that hitting restart completely broke the physics and turned our characters into stretching spaghetti monsters. It created such a hilarious, chaotic sight that we just had to share it.

Our demo is currently out on Steam! To celebrate, we've been sharing these wild moments from the early days of Roll Together. It’s been a crazy ride getting the game to its current, much more polished state, and we’d love for you to try out the demo (where the limbs hopefully stay attached!) and let us know what you think.

Our demo is out on Steam! To celebrate, we started sharing some clips from the early days of Roll Together.

This one is from the very beginning, we didn't even have a "lose condition" for hitting obstacles back then! We were just testing how agile the mechanics felt on thin platforms.

It’s been a wild ride getting it to this point, and we’d love for you to try the demo and let us know what you think. Feedback is always welcome!
