Paddle struggles to forward

Hi folks!
Got them week ago (new / amazon 🇫🇷) and the paddle struggles to forward. Backward - no issues, great click and works. Forward - like something blocking it. Pretty hard.

Is it common/any fixes? It’s pissing me off to send them back if there are an easy fix.

Telegram & how unwanted people can adb your device (since 3 feb 2023)

Hi folks!

I see that many people shared a lot of different opinions about Telegram here over past 3 months. Lemme share mine:

Here's 4 feb 2014: https://github.com/DrKLO/Telegram/blame/9aeb8be8938e6083376142a782166a15edf46743/TMessagesProj/src/main/AndroidManifest.xml#L58

Old days, probably default config.

Here's 28 feb 2014: https://github.com/DrKLO/Telegram/blame/2628a581478f1a30197ed0fc37165b17a3c97c98/TMessagesProj/src/main/AndroidManifest.xml#L87

true -> false 24 days after. Guess to fix it.

Here is today https://github.com/DrKLO/Telegram/blame/2628a581478f1a30197ed0fc37165b17a3c97c98/TMessagesProj/src/main/AndroidManifest.xml#L99-L101 - 3 feb 2023 it was modified.

What does this mean?

android:allowBackup="true" allows the app's data to be included in Android's backup system (cloud backup via Google and, under the right conditions via adb backup or bmgr backupnow), need fullBackupOnly afaik to work w/o agent.

Here is the agent:

BackupAgent extends BackupAgentHelper :

https://github.com/DrKLO/Telegram/blob/b7561f0c641b521df0000bda2704664d792d6a1a/TMessagesProj/src/main/java/org/telegram/messenger/BackupAgent.java#L13-L14 (12.9.2 release - latest)

There are:
saved_tokens, saved_tokens_login, prefs

Here are your tokens, your settings (shared prefs).
So, via adb get tokens & settings (shared prefs)

Sure, they could dump your chats anyway or run your account anywhere cause it have a "central server". But enabling such "backups" for me it's kinda yelling "it's not us it's they/them/🐷".

Android backup refs:

Folks you're welcome to comment 🍻

Improving sealing for Staedtler/AnyIsograph

When I took my NOS Staedtler I saw that it doesn’t have O-rings. In fact that’s a plastic cap which you can tighten pretty well and it’s made with great precision.

The cap itself is hermetic. With «made in India» Rotring I had issues with the soft plastic cracking after tightening, even if not so strong. Staedtler from the 70s feels harder but I want to preserve it.
So I put an O-ring. It will improve sealing and also act as a soft stop-ring so plastic doesn’t press against plastic as hell. 4.5mm x 1mm O-rings are perfect for this task.

Final version has O-rings on both sides.

Sure, you can also store Isographs in the fridge 🙃

Wristband to use with my guitar 🎸🤘

Bought it from Amazon France, around €10. Awesome quality, it surprised me!
Wish it could have had an inch more (that’s what she said).

Staedtler Mars 700 (NOS 700 S9 from 70-80ies)

Hi folks! I got a Staedtler Mars 700 NOS (new old stock, whatever) today. I’m gonna use it a lot. I picked it up because I was suffering with those Indian “modern” Rotring pens—their extremely soft, cracking plastic and damn drying issues were driving me crazy. So I was googling for alternatives (I even asked Grok) and came across Staedtler and Koh-I-Noor. I wanted Isographs because I like them (I’m an engineer and I used these kinds of pens 20 years ago in university… don’t ask me the brand, it was cheap but worked fine). They’re also pretty handy to clean and refill when needed.
So I found this set on Leboncoin (French “eBay”). The guy has a ton of good NOS stuff and also a second, slightly smaller box: https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/collection/3197330617 . A new set is supposed to cost 170€+, while I paid 89€ (97€ with delivery and fees). But back in the 70s or 80s these were real workhorses—a proper tool made for serious work, whereas nowadays CAD has replaced all that (I did CAD and industrial stuff 20 years ago too).
So… NOS from ’74-’75, why not?
Actually I’m waiting for some Staedtler inks. I don’t wanna use old ink (I doubt it could survive 40+ years). The actual set looks clean and new 🍻 The box got a little broken during delivery, so I superglued it with some bicarbonate 🤓

Impega BS 7922 (1998, repair)

Hi folks! One day, my wife brought home her old calculator and asked if I could repair it. I said, “Sure, I’ll take a look.”
Layers of grime and makeup came off easily with 99% isopropyl alcohol. I replaced the old capacitor with a pair of new ceramic ones (almost doubling the capacity). They’re rated at 50V, so the DC from the solar panel won’t be an issue.
The screen connector was the ugliest problem. I even tested the pins with a needle and multimeter. But as always, there was an easy solution: a hairdryer. Blow some hot air on it, press it down with a pencil, and it’s like new again.
I also replaced the power wires - the originals were poor quality.

Happy wife, happy life 🤓

Xiaomi S1 pump ER9 / Error 9 fix

Hi folks, sadly can’t add photos here so if you own Xiaomi S1 pump and suddenly it display ER9 (which looks like EA9 lol), there are small wire that was disconnected. And this wire is from pression sensor.

The only you have to do is to open your pump and connect it back.

While you disassemble your pump is still power the motor (5 contacts on a main pcb), so pay attention to your fingers.

There are 2 wires connected to top and bottom of the front PCB (with buttons with screen).

The top one - is for the control you don’t need to touch it. The bottom-left one - is the one from pression sensor. Just gently plug it back and add a drop of glue (best some polymer), cause it’s close to motor and get all the vibrations and idk why Xiaomi didn’t protected it well.

Once it’s connected your pump will work well.

If you have good skills you can tie well all the screws inside including the sensor too. But, as i say, pay attention to fingers :)

HW 1.2

FW 1.59

Co CPU 0.8

I see that they are added features I requested, to have a catalog some time ago ❤️

How it’s safe to upgrade from 1.59 to latest? I read for 1.95 « One upgrade may not be able to burn the coprocessor firmware successfully, after upgrading, please go to the device information page to confirm the coprocessor firmware version is v1.1. If not, Please redo the upgrade. »

Do progressively all FWs or jump to latest?

The latest to target is 1.99 🎯
