Another 5-show weekend under my belt!

I have been lucky enough to get the opportunity to visit NYC from out of state approximately every 3-4 months for the last few years. Each trip consists of marathoning shows to maximize my visits. After my last trip, I had seen every musical I had an interest in seeing…so, once the new slate of shows began opening this spring, I knew it was time for another trip!

  1. The Lost Boys — I went in completely blind, and really enjoyed it! I love a visual spectacle, and this show over delivers. It’s nice to just have fun at the theater sometimes. I am already planning to see it again in August as I think my partner will love it.

  2. Cats: The Jellicle Ball — This show prompted my trip, and TBH, it was a tiny bit of a let down. I sat dead center, front row of the orchestra, and could not see any of the floor work happening upstage. Bummer, considering I had the option of buying on stage couch seats. Knowing what I know now, I personally would have preferred those. The dancing was phenomenal. The incorporation of ballroom culture really made sense and was a beautiful tribute. But…the vocals were not there for me. During big ensemble numbers, the diction was lost. Words were hard to decipher. Overall, this show is absolutely a must-see.

  3. Oh, Mary! — This marked my 5th time seeing the show and my 5th Mary. Maya was fun, but it was not my favorite rendition of the role. She played some of the lines like “valley girl”, and it was not my cup of tea.

  4. Schmigadoon — Surprise hit of the trip. I had enjoyed the show, but I didn’t expect to respond so strongly to the stage adaptation. It’s just a delight to witness.

  5. Rocky Horror — Campy in the best possible way. Another show where I left with a huge smile on my face.

I have 30 min to get from one show to the next. Wish me luck!

The congestion around Times Square is miserable today. Sending quick footwork vibes to those facing similar challenges today. ✨

Where to find sheet music for Two Strangers?

I need to buy some sheet music from Two Strangers (Carry a Cake). I’m specifically looking for the Broadway version of “What’ll it Be”—it’s about 35 seconds longer than the West End version, so I can’t easily use that version’s sheet music.

I’m having a hell of a time finding it!
