DCIS question. After 2nd lumpectomy excision, all clear. Will I still have to have radiation?

Been lurking here since i got my diagnosis. You guys aee amazing. I don't know what i would have done without the vast experiential information and love you all have providdd to so many. Thank you. All of you.

Now I have a question.

I got the pathology report this afternoon, all margins clear! Yay! Thought i was done with this blip in my life.

Then I talked to the surgeon. She confirmed we were done with any surgical procedures, but said I would still need to consult with the radiological oncologist, and she said she the notmal next course of treatment is radiation. I'm devastated.

Has anyone with DCIS avoided radiation after successful lumpectomies? I'm just trying to adjust my expectations.

Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Just starting the journey. Would it be weird if I brought garden gifts to my first meeting?

Hi all. Recently diagnosed with DCIS, grade 3. Meeting with surgeon/oncologist on Monday to find out more about my condition and discuss my treatment plan. Would it be weird if I brought tomatoes and/or flowers from my garden to give to the nurses/doctor?

PSA - Back up your games, kids!

I started playing 5 or 6 years ago. I paid like $1.50 for no ads. Been enjoying all this time. More than 200,000 coins, etc. I never backed up because I don't have Apple or Facebook. Suddenly, my phone's screen dies. (Ok, I dropped my phone. Phone still works, but I can't see anything.)

So....got new phone and transfer everything over. Everything EXCEPT Wordscapes! When I contact Support they asked me if I'd backed up to Google. I had no idea I could have done that!!

My only option now is to pay $400 to replace the screen of my old phone so I can link my game to Google, then recover on my new phone. Ugh.

Don't be like me! Link your games!

Where is everyone getting fresh cilantro?

I live in rural SC and even if I go to a large grocery store 30 minutes away it's highly unlikely I'll find good fresh cilantro. I tried growing it this year but got maybe 3 sprigs. Every recipe for salsa here includes a huge bunch of cilantro. Where is all of raised cilantro coming from?

Can I use dried? Can I get fresh shipped to me?

Sincerely, Seeking Fresh Cilantro

Are my onions ready to harvest?

The leaves haven't turned yellow, but the bulbs are almost all the way out of the ground.

We had a unusually hot Spring, so the leaves flopped over a long time ago. So I can't go by that. I've been waiting for the leaves to yellow. What do y'all think?

$25 off Premium right now

If anyone is on the fence about upgrading to Premier, it's $25 off right now. I'm currently on the $89/year promo, but when it expires the renewal will be $110. So the current Premium annual price of $124 makes sense for me. It's infuriating to have to upgrade in order to watch more than one episode per week, but for just over $1/month extra I'll live with it.

If I pre-order a book using a credit and cancel Audible subscription before the book is released...

Do I still get the book?

My one-year subscription ends in June and I don't plan to renew. I need to use my remaining credits before I cancel, but one of the books I want to buy with a credit isn't being released until September. If I buy it now and then cancel, will it appear in my library in September?

More vole damage!

I'm at my wit's end. After the last tuber was chewed by voles, I planted tons of onions in this bed. But now there are 4 more casualties. 3 tubers I planted earlier this month are just gone and this beautiful plant is dying. I've dug down and stuck a garlic in the hole, but what else can I do? I can't find the hole where they're coming in, so I can't use the many trap/kill suggestions you guys gave me.

At this point in the season, can I dig this bed up and replant elsewhere? I'm in Upstate SC, zone 8a.

I'm dying!

What is wrong with my fig?

Bought the house 4 years ago (Upstate SC), and I know the landscaping had been neglected for years and years, since the elderly lady who was the gardener had died.

The first summer after we moved in, the fig tree was bursting with figs. Next year, fewer. Last year they got eaten by the local critters. This year, I see 2 big ones at the top and one smaller one.

What can I do to help my tree?

Edit: oh. I had no idea. Given that it had been neglected, I thought they just grew in my environment.

I will prune, remove hedges blocking sun and fertilize. thank you, fig family!

Does this have an eye?

I purchased this from a dahlia grower. Two of the tubers they sent already had sprouts. This one did not, and I cannot tell if it even has an eye. It's under lights now to see if one will emerge, but I thought I'd ask the hivemind as well

Hey is Walmart delivery and shipping different, earn they both use personal vehicles?

A few times I used Walmart free shipping and the items arrived in a person's vehicle, left at the door, no tip. But Walmart delivery, same thing, plus tip. How do they decide which items are delivery vs shipping?

How do delivery drivers keep cold food cold?

If I add an insulated bag to the order and ask them to pack cold food in there, will they? I've only ever ordered pantry items for delivery but I need some fridge items this time.

I've been waking this clump up for months and so far there are only 2 sprouts. Before planting, should I cut off the non-eyed ends? Or just plant it as-is? I just don't don't if the non-eyed tubers detract from the overall plant.

Thanks for any advice!

This dahlia was looking wilty even after being watered so I pulled it out, thinking it might be gall. It wasn't. Something is eating the tubers. This is in a raised bed with chicken wire on the bottom!

All of the other dahlias in this and my other beds look fine.

I'm in Upstate SC, zone 8b, if that helps.

Questions:

  1. Is there anything I can do at this point to deter critters from eating them?
  2. Should I put this tuber back im the bed so the varmint can continue eating this one and leave the others alone?

Please help if you can! Thank you!

update: A couple of my favorite IG dahlia farmers said I have to trap the voles. So here's a detailed video from Jaques In The Garden if anyone is interested in trapping/extermination methods:

Not sure if I should post here or in r/tomatoes, but here goes.

I'm growing a lot of sauce tomatoes this year and I plan on vacuum sealing amd freezing them for later use in making salsa. Last year I froze them with skins on, and it was a huge hassle once they were defrosted (they fell apart when dunking them in boiling water to get the skins off). Is there a widely-accepted way to prep salsa tomatoes for freezing?

Thanks!
