Regarding the section “…and there are no guardrails, because of the need to push snow off after avalanches.” The comma is a stylistic choice, sure, but I’m curious about the reason? I feel like it reads the same without the comma

Bought tickets to the US open. Tried to transfer one of the tickets to my friend, and it’s been stuck pending for days. My event was today. born and raised to LA, moved to the east coast for college. I love coming back home; the vibe just changes, and it feels like a total reset. to me, life just feels “rougher” on the east coast and the people are always angrier

lately, I’ve noticed there’s been such an uptick in criticism about LA (both online and in person). What gives? and, most of the time, it’s from people who have never been here. I recently got into an argument with someone about LA because they said it was “so fake” and “weird” (they’ve never even been here!) but then rhapsodized about their recent trip to Brazil. (I thought it was weird because Brazil and LA are more similar than Brazil and their home town.) I get that we’re a big target because we’re constantly involved in popular culture, but other cities also involved in pop culture don’t get as much hate.

wondering if it’s normal to sometimes struggle to come up with pitches? I’ve been doing the usual recommendations—reading a lot, scavenging through the internet, going outside—but nothing is sticking.

matched with a guy online in January, we talked for 2 months before meeting in March (we were both busy af). I told him I just wanted something fun and not serious, and he wanted something more but was fine w/ being not serious. we hung out a bunch, he insisted on paying for everything, and even traveled to see me when I was out of town. recently I told him that I changed my mind and wanted to explore something more with him. he seemed excited and then a few days later started acting distant. turns out he took a bunch of drugs (said he’s in a bad place) and was sleeping those days that he was distant. ended up revealing to me that he’s afraid of being in a new relationship & still misses his ex but really likes me. what gives?
