Symptoms: slightly enlarged lymph nodes in neck and abdomen, nausea, vomiting, constipation

In February my dog has a teeth cleaning and extraction— we lost one of our boys very quickly to lung cancer a few years ago so I requested chest and abdominal x ray showing no abnormalities.

Fast forward to his annual checkup in mid-April, vet noted slightly enlarged neck nodes but did not seem concerned (told us to monitor the situation).

Fast forward again to late May— nodes still enlarged. Aspiration biopsy performed, results came back inconclusive but “suspect lymphoma” in mid-June. Intermittent vomiting began around the time of aspiration biopsy.

We switched from his kibble to fresh poached salmon and rice the week of his surgery and he tolerated that fine with no vomiting.

Thursday (today is Sunday) he had a lymph node (neck) removed for a more definitive biopsy.

During surgery to investigate vomiting vet did abdominal scan noting slightly enlarged abdominal lymph nodes.

He normally poops like a machine. Friday AM I got him to poop a a VERY small amount, movement was very thin/stringy. I know that the bowel movement can take a few days post surgery and it is apparent to me he is displeased about it, but again temperament is normal. The only other detail is swelling at incision area, which we are applying cold compress to 3-4x/ day (as vet instructed)

This morning he threw up while eating breakfast (salmon and rice). I suspect he threw up his final dose of carprofen. The entire day he has been salivating, but has not vomited again. The vet did not see any issues except for the enlarged nodes.

I don’t know how concerned I should be right now. We are going to call our vet in the morning. He has been receiving his cerenia with dinner at night, can I give him today’s dose early? Until late May he has never had any real issues with his GI tract (vomit maybe 2-3 times annually if that).

Obviously I’m not asking for diagnosis. I am asking for advice though. I am trying not to catastrophize, but on top of this I have been healing a TBI so my regulation is off. We’re currently sitting on the couch and he keeps drooling on and off and licking as one does when they won’t stop salivating. Saliva is clear, slightly sticky. I don’t know what my question is.

EDIT:
Normal food is Natural Balance limited ingredient sweet potato and salmon. He has a poultry as well as legume allergy and he has been on this food for almost 6 years (no chicken products or pea protein). We do believe the vomiting also started around the time of a new bag, but it’s hard to say because it was a bit ago now. The food formula supposedly has not changed, but the size and color of it did recently shift (2 or 3 bags ago)

SECOND EDIT: My landlady recently started spray glyphosate (even though she has a cocker spaniel). I am not entirely sure if that is related. I don’t know when she started but I noticed burns on some plants and then saw it in the backyard maybe a month ago.

My spouse and I are looking for our first home!!! There are some homes we’ve looked at that would require (most likely) both lead paint and mold remediation. The paint is peeling in a lot of places, so it’s not really a “just paint over it and let it be” type thing. Should one come before the other? We are looking at one house that needs a gut to the studs, we are not afraid to do that/put A LOT of work ourselves into it. I know professional remediation for the two would probably be 20-30k (more? Am I that delulu?) in and of itself. We would roll the cost of repairs into our mortgage loan and if we can get a diamond buried DEEP in shit for 50k, I don’t have an issue paying professionals to come in and do that. Maybe I’m crazy! Tell me if I’m crazy.

I’ve been out of work since November. I work in a psych hospital and a client punched me in the head. I’ve been stuck at home for 8 months (slowly healing but post-concussion syndrome is a bitch) losing my mind.

My parents have a cabin about 90 mins away from where I live. After telling my spouse about how exasperated I was, they pressured me to come here for a few days to recharge.

It’s been the worst vacation ever. I found out Thursday my dog has early stage lymphoma (and again I’m alone). My grandma passed away two months ago. Losing my first best friend in life and having my second best friend diagnosed with cancer….fucking sucks.

I’m in a mixed episode I think. I am taking my meds. I am depressed and dealing with ideation and also cannot sleep. I am not in danger of hurting myself outside of ideation. I already promised several very good friends I would not hurt myself.

I just feel alone. And sad. And just alone. I want to cry in my own bed with my dog and not alone at this cabin with “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” on repeat.

And my birthday is this week. It’s been such a shitty year I don’t even want to celebrate.

Bc of my injury I cannot drive currently so I do not have a car here. I am relying on my spouse to grab me tomorrow. I just don’t want to be alone here anymore.

Edit: I am not upset at my spouse in the least. Neither of us knew this would happen. I wish I had just listened to my inner hesitancy.

Food: natural balance limited ingredient diet, salmon and sweet potato, with the addition of oats and pumpkin

I’ve had Forti for 6 years and he’s been a very healthy boy! He had his first teeth cleaning (+ 1 tooth removed) in February. 3 weeks ago he had his annual and the vet commented on the size of his lymph nodes saying “they’re a little bigger than I want,” however we did blood work and everything came back alright. I was not at the appointment so this is what my spouse told me.

One of his nodes on his neck is still swollen, about the size of a gr4p3 (sorry needed to turn off the poison control filter). It’s also firmer (NOT HARD) although can be moved. We spoke with our vet over the phone on Monday and she once again confirmed that preventative bloodwork was done.

In addition, we lost one of our boys suddenly two years ago to multiple lung masses as well as a lipoma sarcoma on his leg that really affected his QoL near the end. Because of this when Forti had his teeth done, I requested a chest and abdominal x-ray just to ease my mind and it came back looking good.

He has a brother who is about to turn 2. We got him when he was 6 months old and had been weaned too early as well only negative interaction with humans in his first home. He is still learning what’s appropriate. When the boys wrestle, he often goes for the neck. There is also new construction down the street and my spouse wonders if it’s allergies?

I believe my spouse noticed the enlarged lymph node a week or two before we saw the vet, so 4-5 weeks now. Our vet told us if they get bigger or remain swollen for another 2-3 weeks to call back.

We are located in New York State.

Should I wait another couple of weeks? Does this sound concerning to anyone? He is otherwise really healthy, poops and eats on a timer, loves to wrestle and obviously cuddle and sleep, I haven’t noticed a change in thirst and he’s always been picky eating in the morning (sometimes just a couple bites and he’ll ask for the rest around 12/1p).

Also I am NOT asking for pricing, but my spouse and I are trying to buy our first home. Is an aspiration typically a more expensive test to perform? Obviously happy to go back into debt for this sweet baby, but I guess I would like to be prepared for any financial brunt that may be upcoming. If this is not allowed, mods PLEASE do not delete my post. I would just ask responders to disregard if not allowed.
