Nice family outing in Burlington

A few days ago, my family and my brothers’ families went to Buffalo wild wings because the 4 kids, ages 17 to 2, really wanted to go there for their first time. I hadn’t been there in years.

Everyone was enjoying their meals up until someone screamed “CALL 911!” . A homeless man had walked directly from outside to the bathroom and immediately overdosed. Two firetrucks and ambulance later we had to grabbed our check and left, trying to downplay the situation to the younger children who had just witnessed their first OD in the Queen City.

I guess that’s just life in the big city.

Sarah George’s Policies Offer Good Intentions but Not Results

This was removed from r/burlington, so I’m reposting it here.

Sarah George constantly describes her policies as evidence-based, but where is the evidence? We still don’t have public data showing who receives diversion, who completes it, who reoffends, or what happens after repeated failures.

Given the evidence we do have, and what anyone can see with a walk through City Hall Park or a ride down the bike path, I think it is pretty clear that the city has trended in the wrong direction since George was first appointed in 2017 and elected in 2018.

The good news is that there is precedent for turning things around, and you don’t have to look any further than Sarah George ally Chesa Boudin, who was recalled in San Francisco in 2022. Since then, property crime and violent crime have declined dramatically.

We don’t need to criminalize homelessness, but we do need accountability. Sarah George has not offered that, and “trust me” is not a good enough reason to give her another term.

Please vote for Bram Kranichfeld today.

Nikhil Goyal's campaign sets fundraising record at $140k, with approximately 67% ($95k) coming from out of state donors.

I don't know how others feel about it but when a candidate sets the fundraising record and so much is from-out-of state money, I wonder who are they actually representing.

Vermonters have contributed just $43k to Nikhil Goyal's campaign vs $95K coming from places near and far like Palo Alto and Cupertino CA and New York City & State, CT, VA, Phoenix etc.

How do you feel about out-of-state money being the driver for local Vermont elections? Should future Vermont elections decided on the amount of out of state money a candidate can collect?

US Shops for New Dance Music Vinyl?

Does anyone have any recommendations for US Shops that mail order vinyl? Something like a Juno or deejay.de but US based. Smaller shops with great taste also accepted. I play a bit of House mostly and also Techno/Italo/Electro/Breaks

Well...

The report is out and they did not include any members of the general residential population, private sector workers or business owners.

They did not consider you a part of the community for the “Community Involvement” for the report. They cut out the vast majority of the people that make up Burlington.

The included groups are should be there but the general community needed to be involved as well.
