We said goodbye to Nala this morning as she left her vessel. She was battling kidney disease with the utmost strength and fight for over a year.

She was 14 and a 1/2 years old and we are so lucky to have had that long, beautiful time with her. She truly was an angel on Earth and she was our best friend in the entire world. We are never having children so she was the closest thing we had to feeling that unconditional love and bond.

My husband and I got Nala 14+ years ago and that is how long we have been together. We do not know life without her and we are heartbroken but we know we made the right decision.

She went out with dignity—calmly, comfortably and peacefully. Just as she deserved.

I know posts like these are difficult to read and I’m sorry but I really wanted to say thank you so much to this beautiful community for loving Nala as much as we did.
